Ombre Colour Block Maxi Skirt | Raues Custom Clothing Review

My usual outfit posts, featuring a gorgeous new top tailor made for me by Raues!

Here's what I wore to spend the day with mum and have dinner with family:
Ombre outfit burgundy oversize tee Alexander McQueen skull scarf colour block maxi skirt
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
ScarfAlexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarf
TeeAtmos&Here rolled sleeve oversized tee in wine
SkirtAsos colour block maxi skirt in red (on sale!)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

When this colour block maxi skirt I ordered arrived I loved it right away, but then wondered if it would really get a lot of wear after everything I pulled out of my wardrobe to wear with it seemed to be grey. It had seemed a great buy online....was so pleased to see how well it paired with the burgundy tee, it encouraged me to try more colour options. I really like the little ombre effect this outfit has! Was a really nice comfortable outfit for a day at the shops with baby T and my mum and then dinner with my family in the evening. As it was a warmer day and we were inside most of the time, I didn't need a jacket.

This is the second time I've worn the skirt (and I'm evaluating all my July purchases), so the final verdict:
I really like it. It was definitely a case of being blinded by the pretty item with a good sale price and buying without thinking too hard about what I could wear it with. Luckily, when it arrived I realised I hadn't thought it through and looked through my wardrobe to see what it would work with. Did take me a while to come up with something other than grey, but once I did I came across a few ideas. It is a good reminder to myself to plan out possible outfits for things in my head before I purchase, so I don't end up buying something that won't get worn often.

Last worn: Ray Bans, oversize tee, taupe skull scarf, colour block maxi skirt, Converse.

Here's how I wore my new top from Raues this weekend:
Raues custom clothing eva polka dot top skinny jeans trench coat boots
Jacket: Temt black trench coat
Scarf: Cotton On white pashmina
Top: Eva top C/O Raues
Jeans: Cotton On black skinny jeans
ShoesAsos Cleo leather boots in black

I have about 10 outfits from the past few weeks to post, but I just had to share this weekend's one with you right away. I have been looking forward to the arrival of this top from Raues, my very first custom-made item of clothing! I'm petite so own quite a few altered pieces, but never anything made from scratch just for me. I was so excited to wear it!

Sandra from Raues contacted me back in July to say that she would like to extend a discount code to my readers, and for me to trial the service and give a review. They ship worldwide, and you can get a 15% discount if you like the Raues Facebook page and complete your registration on the Raues site. A 15% discount code will be emailed to you when you complete both steps.

My Review of Raues:

In July I was really rather busy with baby, still learning and trying to figure out baby's routine, but I was intrigued enough to give it a go. Sandra and the Raues team have been so patient and helpful with me through the process. Signing up to their website and filling in my measurements, something that wouldn't normally have taken me long, seemed to take days when I had to fit it in around baby T's nap times! When you sign up to the website you enter your account details, and fill in all of your measurements. You have to fill in everything, I guess to make ordering easier in future as your sizes are there if you order a top, dress or skirt. However, distracted by baby T, I'd managed to put the wrong numbers down! Thankfully Sandra picked up on this as a few of my measurements were very different from normal ones, and she asked me to confirm. She let me know when my top was going to be made so I could re-measure and fill in the correct sizes this time! I appreciated her attention to detail and the checking that's built into their process. If you also manage to put in the wrong measurements or something isn't right, there is even an Australian return address, fantastic!

Once my measurement mistakes were fixed up, the top was made so quickly, and shipped right away! Once everything was confirmed, it took just over 3 weeks for my top to be made, shipped and land here in Australia. Not bad for a company that estimates 4-6 weeks shipping time. It was beautifully wrapped too. The quality is great - the top fits wonderfully and the peplum length is perfect, just below the hips, exactly as I specified. Good for hiding the post baby belly bulge! Like the other items on Raues, I could customise a few options on the top as well as getting it made to fit me perfectly. It was really fun getting something tailor made just for me, with the options I chose. I will have to take another photo when I wear it in better weather to show off the cute sleeves. Have been thinking about this lovely dress too.... If you want something unique and tailor made, by a company with wonderful customer service, I'd definitely recommend Raues. And don't forget to like the Facebook page before you register to get 15% off!

The Getaway Plan Tee, Striped Maxi | Printed Top, Pencil Skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs HIllier Hobo

Here's what I wore on Sunday:

Top: The Getaway Plan circle band tee (New purchase)
Skirt: Thrifted black and white pleated striped maxi skirt from AWLQ jumble sale
ShoesNineWest Lovelyou studded flats in black
Bracelets: the usual plus old Diva purple, blue and pink bracelet stack
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC with python embossed leather in aquamarine

Relaxing Sunday after a busy Saturday. After the day time trip DFO to shop for Father's Day, we went and saw The Getaway Plan on Saturday night. Although they were all sold out of tees in my size, I have a tradition of buying a band tee every time I see someone play...so I bought this one anyway. I think it looks okay oversized, what do you think? Maybe with a less voluminous skirt next time. It was certainly very comfortable though!

Last worn: striped maxi skirt, studded ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC. First time I've worn the tee as it is a new purchase.

Here's what I wore to work today:

SkirtJeanswest zip detail ponte pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in two tone blush and black
Bracelets: the usual
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo in blush pink with silver hardware

This top is one of the pieces I bought for myself at DFO on Saturday. Such a nice print, thought I'd pair it with a plain black pencil skirt to let the top take all of the attention. Always nice to wear a bit of colour on a Monday, so I paired it with a pink bag as well.

Wearing a new purchase and an old favourite today! Took the photos without my trench today to show off the layering better. This jumper is one of the great pieces I picked up at the op-shop at the local festival the other weekend. I think it is actually supposed to be a cropped jumper, but as I'm petite it worked out to be the perfect length for layering! :)

Messy hair and messy scarf today! Although a lady in the office complimented how "put together" I looked, I certainly didn't feel it today. Was lovely of her to say something though. Added the scarf to keep me warm in the office and in meeting rooms, but didn't need it outside during the day and in the early evening. It's starting to warm up nicely now. If only it was as warm early in the mornings too, I'd be more likely to get out of bed and have time to fix my hair before work....haha!

Nice relaxing Sunday. Had Church Online in the evening and spent some time outside with Cooper enjoying the sunshine during the day. Although it's still cold in the morning and evening, it's nice and warm during the day.

Just realised as I was looking up the last time I'd worn this bag that it's been getting a lot of wear lately! Should try use other bags on the weekends and mix it up a bit. It is perfect for weekends and errands though :)

French Connection Print Dress, Scarf, Heels, Alexander Wang Rocco | Layered Top, Pencil Skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran Bag

Here's what I wore to work on Wednesday:

Necklacegifted freshwater pearl necklace
DressFrench Connection 'Fast Rhonda' dress in black/caramel
Shoes: Wittner 'Bloomy' black heels
Bracelets: the usual
BagAlexander Wang Rocco with gold hardware in dark argon

Three days in a row I've gone for a printed French Connection dress now, sorry! Had to think of something easy yet professional to wear, and rather than fussing with separates I went for the lazy printed dress option. We were filming an internal video at work and I had a part to play in it so wanted to look as professional as possible. I'm be curious to see what the final video looks like - got to see a bit after I'd done my clip and it looked okay. Will be good to see everyone's parts together.

Last worn: beige trench, Marc by Marc Jacobs island pine scarf, French Connection print dress, ankle-strap heels, Alexander Wang Rocco bag.

I was wearing a trench over this but it was impossible to take a photo showing the fake "layering" with the top so I braved a photo without the outerwear this morning. Have been eyeing up this top in my wardrobe for a while wanting to wear it, today was finally the day. It was a little awkward tucked in though, the skirt didn't hide the buttons well, haha. Must wear a stiffer skirt next time!

Although it's not in the picture as it only arrived in the afternoon, I ended up wearing my new custom bangle from Yondale Design, you can see it on Instagram. It's a beautiful piece! Went a little custom-crazy a while back, and ordered this cuff and a necklace. I'm looking forward to sharing the necklace with you too when it arrives.

Had another presentation practice at work on Monday - so heels again for a bit of a confidence boost. I got to do my presentation twice, once to a small group as we break off to do them, and once to the larger group. It was definitely a lot scarier with more people in the room, but I'm pleased I managed to do it. All of the feedback was really helpful. Now I just need to think of a topic to talk about for a few minutes next time, and practice some more!

Another black and white French Connection dress today! Decided to wear another skull scarf too, why break the pattern? hehe. Had a day full of meetings and a bit of running around the city between buildings, so the boots kept my feet dry and warm as I did so. Wish I had thought to bring an umbrella, but didn't get soaked until I left the office to go home, so that worked out well.

This dress is another Leona Edmiston sale purchase :) I really like the print, and as it's a long sleeved dress it was perfect to keep me warm. So many colours in it, today tried to pull out the green and blues with the Rocco bag. Also a better picture of the new addition to 'the usual' that bracelets I wear - my sister brought me this cute Tiffany bow bracelet back from her travels, she got it in NY. I'm blessed to have such a generous and thoughtful sister! :)

I made yet another matches fashion sale order, haha! I picked up two Marc by Marc Jacobs scarves I'd had on my wishlist for a while, and this scarf was one of them. They are massive and so soft, perfect :)

Wearing the black trench again as it was down into single digit temperatures today. Also had to layer a singlet under the knit as it was so cold! Had considered wearing pants, but didn't feel like wearing the heels required with them. Just wanted to be warm and comfortable, and work appropriate for a big meeting.

DH and I got a free lovely sunny day at last, so we headed down to the beach with Cooper. We walked out to King Island at low tide. You can see a pic of it I took during high tide on instagram. Although Cooper wasn't allowed on the island (it's a nature reserve) it was a fun walk out there, and he got to have a few paddles along the way. Sand covered little monster had bath time as soon as he got home though, haha.

Just a nice casual comfortable outfit for walking around, and of course I had church online in the evening.

Woah, a lot of Marc By Marc Jacobs today, haha. And another new purchase! I bought a couple of dresses in the Leona Edmiston sale, and I picked them up from my tailor this weekend. They are always too long on me, but when I get them on super sale I don't mind paying a little extra to have them taken up to fit. Nice simple outfit for a Monday. Bit colder than yesterday though, I think a scarf would have been a useful addition.

Got my long-overdue haircut on Saturday and I'm still figuring out how to style it to be honest! The hairdresser always makes it look so easy and pretty in the salon. Wasn't an issue on Sunday as the sea air made it wavy and it didn't need any input on my part, haha.

Planned this outfit the night before, and woke up to a lot of rain. So much rain it knocked our power out a couple of times during the night. I decided to go ahead and wear what I'd planned anyway, although boots probably would have been nicer for walking. Luckily the rain dried up during the day and I managed to get some outside photos, after my poor attempt before I left for work. Left my hair wavy and natural as it was raining anyway :)

I think the scarf worked okay due to all the other brown tones in my outfit, what do you think?

The truth about this branded polo shirt I was given through my work is that it is two sizes too large. They ordered a batch to hand out to celebrate the success of a large project, and there were not a lot of size options available. This was the smallest, but at the time I didn't see it as an issue as I wasn't expecting to wear it often.

When we were asked to wear it again today, it was a little tricky. I couldn't tuck some of it into jeans or hide it under a hoodie like last time, as they are not the best mid-week office clothes. After comparing the options on facebook, I decided to just wear it with a pencil skirt. It was fun talking to the other ladies in the office and comparing the ways they had worn theirs today - a few of us are smaller than a size 12 so we were in the same situation with shirts too big.

Although my office is business casual and people do wear jeans every day of the week in the office, I do try to keep them just to casual Friday. Not every team or department is as relaxed with their dress codes, and I want to make a good impression. Will see if I change my tune when I have to wear the polo again next week of course!

Simple dress and heels outfit for Monday. A little bit of colour with my scarf, as I really like wearing pink with this dress. Probably should have gone with a different length of coat with this dress though, maybe a more cropped one? Not my favourite outfit.

Decided to wear my Bayswater bag as it's been neglected a bit lately, although when it started raining in the afternoon I regretted my decision, haha. Luckily I managed to keep the bag nice and dry. The Oak NVT bays is terrible for waterspots I've read, always so worried when it rains!

My legs were a little cold yesterday, so decided to wear pants to work today. Like the skirt I wore last week, this is another item of clothing I once had on heavy rotation but now barely wear. Only wore them twice last year! I had to give these up when I injured my knee and had to stick to flats, as they really only work with heels. Should try wearing pants to work more often now my knee has healed. As well as having warmer legs, I like this outfit better than yesterday's. :)
