Rainy Day, Vintage Belted top

Very cold and rainy today - had to wear pants to work. Reviewing the photos after though I wish I'd either worn heels or worn different pants. But I really liked the belted top :)

Here's what I wore today:
Top: Vintage from the Thrifty Kitten (see matching skirt here)
Belt: Barkins (came with this dress)
Bracelets: the usual plus a fuschia jade and labradorite one from Indigo Rose Design
Pants: pinstripe pants from Basque
Shoes: skechers black flats
Bag: Marco Tagliaferri first generation birk bag in navy

Failed trip

DH, Cooper and I were going to go to the beach up the coast today with some of DH's mates. They left early this morning and we were going to join them this afternoon as we had some things to do this morning. Just as we were about to get into the car to join them we got a message to say the rain had set in and it was a complete washout. It was good to find out before we made the long trip, but a shame as we were looking forward to it.

As I was feeling comfortable in my beach wear I didn't bother to change all day.

Here's what I wore:
Tee: Jeans west grey frill sleeve tee
Shorts: Jeans west
Bracelets: the usual
Shoes: Cotton On thongs
Bag: ThursdayFriday 'together' bag with birkin print

Covered up with this amazing paisley print jacket from Just Jeans. Got it on sale, reduced from $60 to $5! Weird pic because I'm trying to show you how relaxed it is with the loose sleeves. Really nice to wear.

Hope you had a lovely Sunday and none of your plans fell through because of the weather!

AWL Vintage Market

Took a trip to the Animal Welfare League of Queensland's vintage market today with DH, my mother in law and sister in law.

We had a really good time. Thankfully the rain held off until later in the afternoon when we were back home.

Here's what I wore today:
Top: Jeanswest "Sarah" stripe tank
Necklace: gift from DH
Bracelets: the usual plus swarovski crystal bracelet from Indigo Rose Design
Jeans: also jeanswest!
Shoes: Cotton On thongs
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in Aquamarine with python embossed leather from Shopbop (new purchase!)

Closeup of accessories:

Some more pics of the day :)

This was the Thrifty Kitten stall - it was good to see the facebook store items up close, and browse the extra ones available at the market. I even got to meet Zoe, who is a sweetheart and has the best eye for picking great items from the AWL thrift stores. It was nice meeting her after we've emailed so much when I've bought things through the facebook store.

I went home with a great dress and sweater. We also bought some cupcakes and baked goods too, but they were hastily gobbled up!

Cooper enjoyed coming along to the markets - I love that AWL makes their events dog friendly!
He was very tired on the trip home after all the excitement and started to fall asleep on my leg. Isn't he cute?

Hope you had a great Saturday too!

When it's okay to wear trackie dacks

Not feeling well today. I curled up for most of the day with Cooper, as well as working from home to get some urgent things done.

Walking the dog or feeling sick are times I think it's okay to wear trackie dacks. (Or tracksuit pants for the non-Aussies!) When do you wear trackie dacks?

Here's what I wore today:

Pants: Juicy Couture
Top: Just Jeans ribbed button detail tank

Look at Cooper's little tongue - he's so cute! He's such a snugly couch potato. I'm glad every day that we adopted him.

I was featured over at the Fashionoclast in their Frivolous Friday round up today if you want to check it out here. I'm not wearing trackies there ;)

Here's another cute picture of Cooper to apologise for the lack of a proper outfit post.
Hopefully feeling better and back to normal tomorrow!

Lack of Cowboy Boots

Lazy Sunday today. I created a "western wear" outfit for the Frivolous Friday challenge at the Fashionoclast.

I think the scarf as a bandanna worked well, but the addition of cowboy boots would have been even better for the challenge. My Asos boots did the job instead, as I don't own cowboy boots. I feel I should somehow.

Top: Jeanswest singlet
Scarf: no brand, from a market years ago
Bracelets: the usual plus two labradorite ones from Indigo Rose Design
Jeans: Sass and Bide "neon nights"
Boots: Asos Cleo leather long leg boots

Closeup of accessories:

Do you own cowboy boots?

Striped Maxi Dress

I am in love with this maxi dress! I saw Reebonz had a Suboo sale a few months back and although I'd never heard of Suboo before the prices were cheaper than the sale prices on the Suboo website itself so I thought I'd give this dress a go.

The dress had to be altered as I'm so short, so this is it back from the tailor for it's first outing. Perfect for a relaxing Saturday and dinner with the in laws in the evening.

Dress: Suboo Riviera Nautical Maxi dress from Reebonz
Hat: vintage 1950's sunhat from The Thrifty Kitten $15 sale last week
Necklace:  long black multi chain necklace from Indigo Rose Design
Bracelets: the usual plus fushia jade stone bracelet from Indigo Rose Design
Shoes: Balenciaga sorbet RGGH studded sandals
Bag: Chanel vintage quilted lambskin flap also from Reebonz

I'm not a hat person but I made an exception for this stunning hat - perfect for keeping the sun off my face on a hot sunny day like today. It has the honour of being the only hat I've purchased.

Hope you all had a lovely Saturday :)

Orange and purple

Have been wanting to try orange and purple together after seeing this amazing outfit from Sheila at Ephermera.

Got a chance to try today with an orange tee and purple bag.

Here's what I wore today:
Tee: Sass & Bide new day rising tee
Necklace: Juicy Couture charm on a gold chain, both gifted from my bestie.
Bracelets: the usual
Jeans: Sass & Bide
Shoes: Big W thongs ($2!)
Bag: Balenciaga 2008 Sapphire RH city

Closeup of accessories:

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Orange Pants on a Rainy Day

DH and I went out to DFO to pick up some new work clothes for him. We got there early morning and were still there in the afternoon, shopping up a storm! Not the quick trip we had anticipated. I bought a few things myself, including this halter neck maxi dress for a wedding we have coming up next month. Reduced from $120 to $30! Got lots of tees and tops too, so many things were reduced to $5 it was difficult to resist!

It rained heavily all day, so today's pic is an inside one. Here's what I wore today:

Top: Jeanswest singlet
Necklace: gifted, freshwater pearls
Bracelets: the usual plus 2 freshwater bracelets by Indigo Rose Design
Jeans: Burnt Ochre orange pants from Vero Moda at Asos
Shoes: Cotton On thongs
Bag: Balenciaga Black 2010 Part Time with GSH

Kind of disappointed with the way these jeans are starting to sag at the knees after only a couple of wears - maybe a little bit too much stretch in them.

Cooper doesn't mind spending time inside away from the rain - as he has lots of toys to amuse himself with!

He is such a spoilt little man!

Orange pants, pink nails

I have a small confession. I bought these pants at Asos thinking that they were red pants, not orange. I was using a different computer that evidently had major issues showing colours. I think I love them even more than the red ones though!

Here's what I wore today:
Singlet: Sass & Bide Musical Genius tank
Necklace: Black multi chain necklace from Indigo Rose Design
Bracelets: the usual
Jeans: Burnt Ochre orange pants from Vero Moda at Asos
Bag: Vintage Chanel chevron evening bag
Nail polish: Chanel 535 May pink polish (gift from my bestie)

Closeup of accessories on the polish on my nails:

I have owned 2 pairs of bright pants before: a bright pink pair when I was much younger that I loved, and a red pair of Ripcurl ones a few years ago. I no longer have either, and I doubt I would fit into them if I did.

Here's an old pic of the red ones:

What do you think is better, red pants or orange pants? Could I justify buying a red pair too?

Feeling uninspired

Today was a funny day weather-wise! Showery and stormy but very hot and humid too. It was very cool yesterday and I expected it to be the same today, but it was overcast and rainy and warm at the same time.

Had absolutely no idea what to wear. I wanted to wear something warm because of the rain, but cool because of the humidity. After spending much too long staring at my clothes and needing to get to the post office before it closed I just picked random things. A very uninspired outfit. I like red and blue together, but this is maybe too much blue.

Here's what I wore today:

Necklace: gifted from a wonderful friend
Bracelets: the usual
Top: Cotton On
Shorts: Jeans west denim cuff shorts
Shoes: Cotton On thongs
Bag: Balenciaga Sang 2010 GSH flat clutch

(Scary ghost like pale skin courtesy of my camera being unsure what to do with the weird weather too, hehe!)

Closeup of accessories:

Got a pressie from my bestie today too!  This is what she gave me:

She is the best bestie ever, don't you think? Spent some time this evening putting the polish on - my first Chanel polish! I will try to take a picture of it in natural light tomorrow to show off the lovely pink colour.

CSI Experience, Sand Sculptures

Had a great day today spending some time on the coast with my sister and her boyfriend. We had a lovely stroll along the beach, had lunch, saw the amazing exhibits at the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships and went through the CSI Exhibition.

Here's what I wore today:
Dress: Asos red leopard print dress with dipped hem
Belt: had it so long not sure, maybe Supre?
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in Rubis and a hair tie!
Shoes: Asos Flirt leather sandals
Bag: Balenciaga Coquelicot 2011 RH Velo from Reebonz

Closeup of accessories:

Here's one of the amazing sand sculptures we saw - this one was the biggest, it was incredible.

And we had some fun in the CSI Exhibition too, they have an area where you can have your photos taken in Gil Grissom's office. It was lots of fun playing with props. We ended up with quite a few photos, so I thought I'd share one with you.

Ended the night with church online as usual. http://live.lifechurch.tv/

Hope you had a lovely weekend :)

Belts and Buckles, Virtual Fashion Week party

Nice relaxing Saturday with DH and Cooper. I wore my bling belt as part of the Frivolous Friday: Belts and Buckles challenge at the Fashionoclast

Here's what I wore today:
Tee: Supre
Necklace: Chanel (via Reebonz)
Bracelets: the usual plus a Swarovski crystal one from Indigo Rose Design
Belt: extremely old, no idea where I got it
Shorts: Jeans west
Bag: Balenciaga 2005 Magenta RH work (Yep, again! Sorry I'm in a bit of a bag rut but I love this bag!)
Shoes: Cotton On thongs

Wore some blingy accessories to match the belt buckle. It's basically a standard belt buckle covered in diamantes. It was my favourite belt for a few years.

Closeup of accessories:

The lovely Sam from Style of Sam threw a Virtual fashion Week party yesterday - and I virtually attended! Check out the fun pics everyone sent in for the party here. I hope it's a new tradition on her blog.

Singlet and Shorts, Asos Fashion Finder

Relaxing Sunday again - DH and I went out for lunch. The weather called for shorts and a singlet again, but I thought I'd switch it up a bit so it was a little different from yesterday's outfit. Wore paper bag waist shorts and wedges instead of denim shorts and sandals.

Here's what I wore:

Singlet: Jeanswest animal print racer back singlet
Shorts: Asos paper bag waist shorts
Necklace: oldie from Diva I think
Bracelets: the usual plus a labradorite one made by a talented friend. It sparkles in the sun, so pretty.
Shoes: Nine west wedges
Clutch: Balenciaga Sang 2010 GSH flat clutch

Closeup of the accessories:

I think these are the perfect wedge - they are high but the platform makes them so comfortable.

Signed up for the Asos Fashion Finder this afternoon - I'm on there as AwayFromBlue. Is anyone else using it?

Finished up the day with church online in the evening at http://live.lifechurch.tv/. Hope you had a lovely weekend :)

Blogger interview, Cooper and Mica want Oscar's Law!

I am so excited to see this post on The Fashionoclast today! Frederik, one of the writers at the Fashionoclast asked if I would like to be interviewed and of course I said yes. The thing I like best about it is how eloquent his introduction is compared to my responses ;)

So go ahead and check out my first ever blog interview here at The Fashionoclast!

Relaxing day today spending time with my family and a trip to the park. Cooper got some exercise while we fed the ducks and strolled around. My sister and I couldn't resist playing on the swings for a bit before we left!

Here's what I wore:
Singlet: Oscar's Law pink ladies singlet (via  http://www.oscarslaw.org/)
Necklace: gift from DH
Bracelets: the usual
Shorts: Jeanswest denim shorts
Shoes: Balenciaga sorbet 2010 RGGH studded sandals
Bag: Balenciaga 2008 Sapphire RH city

I wore my pink Oscar's Law singlet as Cooper and I want Oscar's Law!

In Australia puppy farms (puppy mills or puppy factories) are legally allowed to exist and provide pet stores with puppies to sell, while over 200,000 animals are put down in shelters every year. (Source)
I dream of one day being able to proudly say that I come from a country where puppy farms are outlawed and the only animals in pet stores are shelter animals waiting to be adopted.

That's why I support Oscar's Law. (Plus Cooper looks so cute in his bandanna!)

Tiki Style in a maxi dress

Today's outfit is my entry into the Frivolous Friday challenge over at the Fashionoclast. This week's theme is Tiki Style!

I thought it would be wonderfully easy until I realised I gave all my hula girl costume accessories to my mum when I returned the grass skirt she lent me. But the show must go on so I threw on the loudest dress I own (recent purchase actually) and a flower in my hair to make a challenge-worthy outfit.

What I wore today:

Dress: Somedays Lovin White Heart tiger Maxi dress (modified and worn strapless as it's much too long otherwise)
Flower in my hair: Frangipani from the tree in the garden
Necklace: Juicy Couture charm on a chain, both gifted from my bestie.
Bracelets: the usual plus some labradorite ones made by a talented friend
Shoes:  Asos flirt leather sandals (hidden by the flared hem of the dress)
Bag: vintage Chanel chevron evening bag
Cute fluffy doggy: Our adopted Shih Tzu cross Cooper.

Closeup of accessories:

Was the perfect thing to wear for a BBQ lunch at the in-laws house. We spent the evening relaxing in the back yard with Cooper before I had to go online for Church Online. Here's a fun picture of Cooper in the hammock with DH :)

If you do have some spare time this weekend or this upcoming week you can check out the message playing at church online - it's a really good one called 30 second theology  It's watching a bunch of moving, sad, funny and hilarious commercials from around the world and talking about them for a bit. Covers everything from parents to self esteem and beauty, safety, how precious life is and power. Good stuff! http://30secondtheology.com/

Blue jersey dress

So happy to have such lovely weather for the weekend. The weekend was off to a great start with take-out and a movie night with DH and Cooper last night, it was lovely.

Had a very relaxed Saturday today. Tried to catch up with every one's blogs as I've fallen terribly behind this week. It was a crazy week at work, lots of extra hours. Hoping next week is better.

Here's what I wore today:
Dress: Asos drop waist jersey dress in blue
Necklace: gift from a lovely friend
Bracelets: the usual
Shoes: Cotton On thongs
Bag: Balenciaga 2008 Sapphire RH city with violet tassels

Really like this dress, it's so comfortable and easy to wear. I was halfway to the post office when I noticed the tassels on the Balenciaga city and the tassels on the side of the dress were maybe a bit much though, next time I wear this dress I'll pick a bag without tassels. Doesn't look too bad in the pic, but the tassels swing about a bit when I walk.

Closeup of accessories:

Hope you have had a lovely Saturday, whatever you were up to.

Jeans and a tee again

A very relaxing Sunday again - it rained most of the morning but when it stopped in the afternoon I was able to take Cooper for a much needed walk. Also had my first session on my exercise bike. May have overdone it a little for a first time, maybe 30 minutes at once is too much for my knee. DH has told me if it's sore today it will be really sore tomorrow. Fingers crossed it won't be!

Just wore comfy, casual clothes today.

Here's what I wore:
Oversized tee: Wildfox Couture
Jeans: Jeanswest
Necklace: Chanel (via Reebonz)
Bracelets: the usual
Shoes: Cotton On thongs

As you can see the sun was shining when I took the pic - my top seems really bright sorry! There is a photography thread that was recently started on Effen Haute forum that I'm participating in, hopefully I'll soak up some tips about taking better photos.

Closeup of accessories:

Although I'm not volunteering at church online (http://live.lifechurch.tv/) this evening as it's my week off, I will just be attending as a guest and we have a meeting for it later. I love that my church is online so I don't have to dress up specially for meetings! :)

Hope you had a great weekend!

Garage sale goodies!

Very rainy afternoon, but nice morning. We went for a trip to the Beenleigh Baptist church garage sale in the morning. Cooper came along too of course, and loved being the centre of attention.

Here's what I wore today:

Tee: Jeanswest Agnes tee in khaki (From my Jeanswest haul here)
Jeans: again Jeanswest
Necklace: glass pearls made by a talented friend
Bracelets: the usual plus a gifted glass pearl and bow one, and 2 freshwater pearl bracelets made by a talented friend.
Bag: Chloe Ethel in sweet pink
Shoes: Balenciaga sorbet RGGH studded sandals

Really pleased to be able to wear my Chloe Ethel bag again :)

Closeup of accessories:

We were just going to the garage sale to show our support and drop off something for some friends, but of course there were a few impulse buys!

I bought these cute leopard print slippers that my mum had put aside for me - they fit perfectly and are so comfy! My mum always picks the best things! Cooper is still unsure if they are for me or him - he keeps biting them now and then. They are very similar to his fluffy toys I guess.

And a very last minute purchase was this exercise bike! Not planned at all, which frustrated DH a little. Oops!
Someone jokingly asked if we wanted it at the end of the sale, as they were packing up all the items that didn't sell to donate to the Salvation Army store. We had missed it when we were looking around before. They were very surprised when I jumped at the chance to take it! DH was especially shocked - I think this is the strangest impulse buy he's seen me get! Tried it out quickly and it worked great, although it's old and dusty it still works.

Those that know me personally know I've badly injured my knee a couple of times recently, and that's why I can't wear heels as much anymore. I used to wear them every day. One of the things the physio suggested for me was an exercise bike, to build up the strength in my muscles without having the varying terrain and resistance of  biking outdoors. The price and hopefully short term requirement for use always put us off getting one.

Very excited with my new-to-me bike and looking forward to using it to strengthen my knee.

What's the strangest impulse buy you've made?
