Keeping with my usual posting method and sharing what I wore as I manged to get a picture of it, even if I didn't like the outfit.
What I wore:
Jacket: Kmart striped maxi cardigan
Tee: Grey 'making magic happen' tee C/O SheinJeans: Jeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch C/O JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote in plum (on sale in pink!)
Why I wore it:
The style challenge for the day was 'monochrome' although I couldn't resist breaking it up and adding a little bit of colour with my purple mini MAB tote bag. This outfit seemed like a good idea in theory but was a pain to wear. It didn't help that I was running late, but I felt this tee kept sliding around and wouldn't sit right for photos. It annoyed me as I wore it through the day too, but I'm not sure how much of my bad mood was coming from our failed shopping trip that morning! I just popped out to get something quickly but you can never do anything too quickly with a baby and a toddler in tow...
Last worn: striped duster, making magic happen tee, black Prima jeans, black ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff purple mini MAB tote bag.
Other ways to wear: striped cardi and grey dress, making magic happen tee and baby bump, black Prima jeans and winter layers, ballet flats and a wrap dress, Rebecca Minkoff purple mini MAB tote bag and denim jacket.
What I wore:
Sunnies: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers (on sale)
Jacket: Jeanswest Peggie kimono cardigan in purple mulberry marle
Scarf: Alexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarfTee: Jeanswest 'Lucy' colour block tee in grey marle/rosebud
Jeans: Sass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs black logo plaque ballet flats
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote in plum (on sale in blue and on sale in pink!)
Why I wore it:
Baby boy had his vaccinations, so in anticipation of having a tough day I'd planned a simple outfit. Just like the grey tee and black skinny jeans combo above, although with a little more colour from the purple cardigan and some print mixing with the scarf and jeans. The jeans met the 'special' style challenge prompt too as they always feel a little more special to wear than plain blue jeans.I really liked this outfit - comfortable for running a few errands, getting baby boy's vaccinations and then spending the afternoon with my sister. I added the scarf at the last minute as it looked like it might be a cooler day that morning but quickly took it off as it warmed up. I wish I'd just left it at home, I don't think it looks quite right and I much preferred the outfit without it.
Aside from the scarf not really working with the rest of what I was wearing, I did really like the rest of this outfit and I had a fun day wearing it.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, taupe skull scarf, grey tee, purple cardigan, printed skinny jeans, ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote (above).
Other ways to wear: taupe skull scarf and burgundy tee, purple cardigan and a maxi skirt, grey tee and a baby bump, printed skinny jeans worn two ways, ballet flats and a printed maxi skirt, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote and denim shorts.

I actually like both outfits, and I think that the scarf works okay with the second one! The first one is my favourite, though. It looks lovely but if it wasn't practical to wear then I can see how it'd be frustrating! Hope you're well, hun. <3

Thanks Kay! You're right, if it's not practical it's just a pain to wear!
DeleteThat is a very nice bag, it matches well with the outfit. You statement tee is also cute. I'm following you now so I can get regular updates from you, I hope you can follow back.
ReplyDeletewww.busyandfab.com
I like that first outfit!! But I know what you mean, sometimes things just get really annoying. I have a sweater where the seams are always off and sometimes I just can't take it! Haha
ReplyDeletehttp://www.closet-fashionista.com/
haha yes I feel your pain!
DeleteHappy new week! Very attractive bag! You definitely bring out the beauty in it! your looks are so comfy and super chic. Well wishes

Interesting to hear why you didn't like the first outfit because I thought it looked fun! But yes, if it was fussy and you were constantly adjusting, I could see why you would not be happy.
ReplyDeleteI do not have a MAB tote yet but that color is gorgeous and you're making me wish I had one!
Carylee | http://morepiecesofme.com
I highly recommend the MAB! :) You're right, I don't like fussy outfits. Otherwise it was great!
DeleteI definitely don't think these are outfit fails! I love the striped cardi in the first and I'm still obsessed with that bag! So cute!
ReplyDeleteFizz and Frosting
Looks comfy and stylish! The top sure sounds annoying!
ReplyDeleteDora www.BangsBang.com
I hate it when I put on a piece that is just annoying and fussy. Nothing is worse then spending your day constantly readjusting!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.iamchiconthecheap.com
Yes it's so frustrating!
DeleteWell, what can I say, we have those days... however I think it has a lot to do with out mood because they look good to me.
ReplyDeleteYes mood really impacts on how I feel about my clothes!
DeleteMeant to say OUR mood ;)
ReplyDeleteYou know what Mica, they weren't bad outfits at all. You looked great. I think if you substituted the cardigans for a blazer/jacket, it would give you the look you were hoping for. I love statement tees and I wear them with mine.

Thanks Kim, I think you're right! :)
DeleteLoving the quote on your tee! Perfect for a Monday.

I love that you share and explain why you like/don't like your outfits, it makes your blog and style of writing and connecting with your readers very relatable. That said, I love the way you've incorporated the pops of purple in both looks, it's such a lovely color on you and paired with darker neutrals, such as black and grey! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!

Thanks Jalisa! I think it's important to share the good and the not so good! :) We all have off days.
DeleteI know you weren't too happy with the first outfit but it's my favourite! I think you look great, stylish and comfy.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
I like your look for the style challenge. The graphic tee is very cool. I love your pop of color with the bag. Very beautiful.

It's amazing how our mood can affect our outfit choices! Some days I'm wearing something and I just don't feel great - even though there's nothing wrong with the outfit. I think you look great in both!

Aww sorry that these were both outfit fails for you :( I really like the first one, especially the t-shirt. Bummer that it didn't sit right because it's so cute and whimsical :)
ReplyDeleteMili | Sharmtoaster
It is a fun tee! Jut didn't have a fun time wearing it that day haha!
DeleteLove the bag! I love the second one with the scarf!!
ReplyDeleteDarriyan♡ | www.darriyancateland.co.uk
Aww yes, we all have outfit fails from time to time, it's totally okay. In theory we put together outfits that we think are gonna work but then it's a big 'uh-oh' moment. ;) Your pants in the second outfit are so cool! I don't think I could pull them off as well as you do here!

DeleteYou really didn't like these outfits? Sometimes it happens that it is not what we hope it will be. But I like the first one. It is perfect in neutrals with pop up of purple. Such a cute bag. o)

Coffee, Prose, and Pretty Clothes
I do like that tee in your first look, but so frustrating that it was bugging you all day. I hate when just one thing makes a whole outfit feel uncomfortable! I love those jeans in your second look though!
ReplyDeleteYes one little annoyance can get really frustrating by the end of the day!
DeleteOh I love the first outfit, the striped long maxi cardigan looks really cute! I have the blue mini mab tote and I need to get more uses out of it!
ReplyDeleteMacarons and Mischief
This is such a cute look!!! I love the bag!!!

I understand what you mean but I like the first outfit! I think you look lovely! The cardigan is very nice! We need to feel comfortable with what we wear to project confidence!
ReplyDeleteVery true! Comfort is important :)

It's so hard to wrap my mind around the fact that your side of the world has the opposite of seasons than us. When I read 'spring' I was like "what?" So funny. Love that graphic tee!
ReplyDeleteI always love grey! I think both of these are great. You are too hard on yourself about the first outfit though I do love your honest opinions.

Straight A Style
Aww thanks Amy! It looked alright, just wasn't comfortable to wear.
DeleteI especially like the second outfit! With those bold pants, the dark purple really compliments them!
ReplyDeleteI love the slogan on your first top. It's so sweet and fun! Perfect for this season :)

Quite far! I'm in Brisbane which is a different state :)
DeleteI can't shop with one so hats off to you that you even try with two! haha I actually like your monochrome look, but I know tops can fit oddly at times making everything seem inconvenient.
ReplyDeletehaha yes sometimes it's too much to handle!
DeleteThe first outfit is literally what I wear every day. Just without a fancy bag. But I see that is is a fail for someone more fashionable than I am.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
I wear similar combination a lot too :) It looks fine, just was a fail as the top kept annoying me all day!
DeleteLove this look!!! That bag is so perfect! and I love the t-shirt in the same look!
