I've set myself the challenge of wearing 31 different dresses for the 31 days of October to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. You can make a donation here, and it's not too late to sign up and start your own challenge to raise funds.
Now, what I've been wearing: more quick and easy outfit formulas! Wearing printed shirts casually, with maxi skirts, and getting my Rebecca Minkoff Love bag out again. I really like this bag! I've included my youtube video review of it below.
What I wore:
Necklace: Tai gold alphabet necklace
Top: Zara star print shirtSkirt: Target grey marle maxi skirt
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey
Why I wore it:
When I was looking for printed shirts to wear to work, I saw this one and was going to wear it, but at the last moment changed my mind to pick another striped one instead. I knew I still wanted to wear this shirt though, so I tried it with a maxi skirt.I really, really liked this outfit. I always enjoy wearing this shirt, maxi skirts are comfortable, and the Rebecca Minkoff bag Love bag is such a great bag, goes with everything. I didn't do much in this outfit, just day care drop off/pick up and a doctor's appointment (for my knee) and working from home, but it was really a perfect outfit.
Last worn: star print shirt, grey maxi skirt, black ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.
Other ways to wear: star print shirt and shorts, grey maxi skirt with red tank and cardi, black ballet flats in the office, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag and skinny jeans.
Where to buy the Rebecca Minkoff Love bag:
(some of the above are on sale too!)
What I wore:
Sunnies: Rayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Tai gold alphabet necklaceShirt: Target blue abstract floral print shirt
Skirt: Jeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey
Why I wore it:
I tried the printed shirt and maxi skirt combination with this #noBuyJuly15 shopping ban breaking purchase, the lovely blue printed shirt. I've worn it to work before but really wanted to wear it casually too. It looks great with jeans, but maxi skirts are better with the knee bandage, and I had to do a lot of driving so needed to wear it.I don't know what it was about this outfit, if it was the combination of the shirt and skirt together (this skirt sits a little lower on the waist than my other maxi skirts), or if it was because I had a terrible afternoon that I didn't like it as much as the outfit above.
The day started off great, early morning wakeup from toddler T meant we had plenty of time to get to playgroup without rushing, and enough time to get home and get lunch organised. Then that's where the day started to go wrong. I ended up running late for a really important appointment, getting stuck in traffic...I was so flustered by the time I got to the destination! Thankfully the rest of the day was a lot more relaxed and enjoyable. Still wouldn't repeat this outfit again though.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, blue printed shirt, black jersey maxi skirt, black ballet flats (above), Rebecca Minkoff Love bag (above).
Other ways to wear: printed shirt and a pencil skirt, black jersey maxi skirt and a graphic tee, black ballet flats and skinny jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag with a pleated skirt.
And as mentioned above, my video review of the Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag:

Ahh that bag is so perfect isn't it. I love the 31 dresses to raise awareness for ovarian cancer. I don't think I could keep up as much, even for a good cause. I just love pants dammit!

I was on a roll with my style challenges, then the season transition hit and I realized virtually NOTHING I had from last year fits me now. It's been a process, working new pieces into my wardrobe that I can wear all Fall and Winter long. I really hope once I'm feeling better about the state of my wardrobe, that I can join in on more of them! I always love your style challenges. You can so creative and aren't afraid to try different things!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm hoping I can do this one - 31 days and 31 dresses is quite a challenge for me!
DeleteIt's great your weight loss has been going so well too! :)
I love the prints on both of those tops!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, I don't think I even own 31 dresses! Ha ha. I could do that with sweaters though ;)

DeleteThose are both lovely blouses! I like the patterns and the shapes - good choices!
ReplyDeleteWill you be doing 31 DIFFERENT dresses during Frocktober?
Yep! 31 different dresses! I figured it was a good way to wear through my dress collection and identify the ones I don't need to keep any more :)
DeleteI've had days like that too when I don't like my outfit then everything else just goes down hill from there. I like it though! The prints of both of those blouses are so fun, and I love that bag!
ReplyDeleteThey are the worst kind of days! :(
DeleteI've never heard of the 31 dresses challenge for October, but that's a wonderful cause. Gosh, I'm sure October will be filled with lots of great outfit posts from you! Can't wait to see how you style the dresses.
ReplyDeleteAlso that bag! Ohhh. I kind of fell off the Rebecca Minkoff fan train for a bit, but that bag might pull me back on. Lovely.

Both of your blouses are so pretty and I love their small patterns. The best of luck with your challenge too, Mica. It is a little hard but you can do it. I love dresses and I own a ton. I could probably do it but I like variety (changing up my outfits).

Hmmm.... I would say this blue shirt would look great with pants or a pencil skirt for example, Mica. Love your first look from head to toe. That bag is blends perfectly with your skirt, beautiful styling!
