Postpartum Outfits: Stripes and Maxi Skirts

I've been eager to get back into my regular wardrobe post-baby. My third trimester capsule wardrobe was fun, but I really was looking forward to having a bigger selection of clothes again.

Unfortunately, at two weeks postpartum you can't quite fit into everything in your wardrobe. Stretchy fabrics are the way to go! They are extremely comfortable too.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Postpartum outfit stretchy stripe tee maxi skirt Balenciaga bag

AwayFromTheBlue | Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
SunglassesRay-Ban new Wayfarers
TeeAtmos&Here oversized stripe tee
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Why I wore it:

Just a heads up that I will be wearing these tees a lot! I have this striped tee in black and burgundy and grey...when I see something I like I buy multiples. They are super soft and don't need ironing so they are on high rotation at the moment. Plus the stretchy factor works nicely post-baby with all the extra curves to be covered.

Wore this out to take baby boy to a quick checkup, and to grab some lunch.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, striped tee, black maxi skirt, Havaianas, Balenciaga Tempete Day bag.

Other ways to wearstriped tee and tartan scarf, black maxi skirt and a graphic teeBalenciaga Tempete Day bag and denim shorts.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | nursing friendly maxi skirt outfit colour block black singlet

AwayFromTheBlue | Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere deer charm
SunglassesRay-Ban new Wayfarers
SingletJeanswest maternity nursing cami
SkirtAsos colour block maxi skirt in red
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Was so happy to be able to wear this maxi skirt again, even if I did go the very boring route and wear it with a breastfeeding singlet. This skirt was too long worn under the baby bump and never looked right worn above the bump so I've not been able to wear it since October.

Wore this out to attend a child health clinic appointment with baby boy. I was feeling happy and confident in my outfit until I looked down halfway through the day and saw baby had added a little something to it....thankfully after I took photos, but sadly while we were out in public!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers (above), breastfeeding singlet, colour block maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere.

Other ways to wearblack singlet and black skirt, colour block maxi skirt for a night out, Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere and a wrap dress.

Postpartum Style: Babywearing Outfits

With two under 2, adjusting to life outside the hospital has been tricky. Walking is as good an exercise postpartum as it was in pregnancy, so we try get out of the house at least once a day to walk Cooper. His little legs appreciate the stretch, even if we don't achieve it every day.

I thought I'd share two of my simple baby wearing outfits with you, for a slow and small walk around the neighbourhood with the boys. No accessories, messy mum-bun and a very tired makeup-free face, but it's nice to document the unpolished side of life, and celebrate being able to get out of the house!

What I wore:

Singlet: Best & Less blue stripe breastfeeding singlet
Shorts: Cotton On blue denim shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

Why I wore it:

This was actually what I wore for my first solo outing with all the boys. We didn't manage to complete our usual long walk, but we did get out the house and entertained Cooper and Toddler T for a while so I counted it a success.

Despite being April and autumn in Queensland, Brisbane was still pretty warm. I'd assumed with an autumn baby that I'd be dressing for autumn temperatures post baby, and packed away all my shorts thinking I wouldn't need them for a while! I haven't been able to find all of them, but did find this pair and it was nice to wear something non-maternity for a change.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, breastfeeding singlet, denim shorts, Havaianas.

Other ways to wearbreastfeeding singlet and newborn baby T, denim shorts and a striped tunic.

Singlet: Best & Less blue stripe breastfeeding singlet
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

Why I wore it:

Another family walk around the neighbourhood. While I'm wearing the same nursing top as I did a few days before (above), I wore a maxi skirt instead of denim shorts. Comfortable, simple and easy to wear outfits like this are ideal for babywearing. I prefer to avoid anything with buttons or zips when I have a baby strapped to me.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), blue breastfeeding singlet (above), black maxi skirt, Havaianas (above).

Other ways to wearbreastfeeding singlet and skinny jeans, black maxi skirt and kimono with a baby bump.
