Blue! Printed Maxi Dress, Lace Pencil Skirt and Teething Necklaces

Two more outfits as I continue on with the 'JaNEWary' style challenge. Both of these outfits fit the prompt for the day, but neither were what I would have worn if I wasn't playing along with the challenge. It's good to wear more of my wardrobe and avoid falling into a style rut though, that's one of the benefits of following along with a monthly challenge.

Here's what I wore to go out with family:
Blue and Purple lace & LV neverfull casual pencil skirt outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
NecklaceNibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
TankJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
SkirtAsos blue textured lace pencil skirt
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes pink clic clac
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

The style challenge for the day was to 'wear something outside your comfort zone'. I don't really own anything I'm uncomfortable in, if I do have it in my wardrobe I usually make the decision to get rid of it when I next wear it. I thought that wearing a pencil skirt casually would be a good thing for me to try again. I've tried a few times on the blog to wear a pencil skirt outside of the office, but I always feel I can't dress them down enough.

Wore this pretty lace pencil skirt with a simple tank and baby T's teething necklace. The last time I wore this pencil skirt was to the office - when I was in the third trimester!

Even though the pencil skirt has an elasticated waist and is really stretchy and comfortable to wear, I wasn't entirely comfortable in this outfit. The longer length of the pencil skirt came in tricky with picking baby up and putting him down a lot. Also felt very overdressed for going out with our families to pick up the photos from the photo shoot we had a few weeks back. I couldn't help thinking that with a blazer or cardi over the top, I'd wear this to work! Maybe the problem is that my office is so casual to begin with. Was definitely an outfit outside of my comfort zone, I much prefer pencil skirts for the office.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarerspurple tank, lace pencil skirt, Asos sandals, Louis Vuitton damier ebene neverfull.

Here's what I wore to have lunch with my family today:
Jeanswest Chantelle Printed Maxi Dress petite blogger Rebecca Minkoff Love bag
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Wilma necklace in pale daffodil (new purchase)
DressJeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress (on sale!)
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus gifted blue and silver bracelet stack
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

This was one of the days I wished I wasn't doing the style challenge, as I had wanted to wear a different dress. The challenge was 'wear a colour that enhances your eyes', so I went with this blue maxi dress and not the other dress I had been thinking of wearing. This dress is lovely and a wardrobe favourite, I love the back lace detail on it, but it's just not what I would have worn if I didn't have the challenge telling me to wear blue.

Still a pretty dress, and appropriate to wear for a lunch with family. My family had planned a big surprise...my grandparents had flown in! So many people had been keeping it a secret for me to have an amazing surprise. It was incredible to see them again and have them meet baby T. I haven't seen them for a very long time, it is wonderful having them here. I'd worn my new teething necklace in anticipation of having to keep baby T amused during lunch, but hardly had to use it at all as he was getting so much love and attention from everyone, we rotated him around so everyone could eat!

Last worn: blue printed maxi dress, Asos sandals (above), Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Spring Dresses and Converse Chucks

Wearing dresses and Converse again. I am terribly predictable lately ;) I am trying to wear more of what I own, but there are a few favourite pieces and combinations I just can't help repeating over and over.

Here's what I wore to have lunch with my mum:
Atmos&Here Willow Tee Dress Chucks Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
DressAtmos & Here Willow printed tee dress
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Yes, I'm wearing that tee dress again. I love it! Wore it out to have lunch with my mum and baby T. Picked the converse Chucks to keep it casual, and a nice big bag to carry everything in. I've worn the dress with boots before every time I've worn it, but it looks great with the Converse too I think.

Safe to say that this dress is my favourite spring piece - I've worn it once a week since I got it! I'd wear it more often, but with baby I only manage to get around to ironing about once a week. I really do wear it as soon as it's washed and ironed! I hope you don't get bored seeing it pop up on the blog so often.

Last worn: Ray Banfloral print tee dress, Converse, Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

Here's what I wore to go shopping with my sister:
Asos grey colour block skater dress belted Converse Chucks
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
DressAsos grey skater dress (on sale!)
BeltAsos skinny pale yellow belt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

I had to run a quick errand in the morning, so was rushing around getting baby T and myself ready. Went for a dress again for simplicity - and decided to try belt it this time so I'd be at least a little different from the last time I wore the dress and Chucks together. Wasn't sure about the belt through the day though, I think I prefer the dress without a belt. Ended up getting a call from my sister who had the day off, so we arranged to catch up a little later and go shopping. Meant I had a nice leisurely morning and could put the errand off till later.

Every time I pass this spot with the pretty yellow flowers all over the ground I think I should try get a blog photo there. It reminds me of all the lovely autumn yellow and orange leaf pictures the northern hemisphere bloggers are sharing. Since I had more time in the morning than expected, I decided to take the tripod along with the stroller when I walked Cooper. Didn't quite turn out as nicely as I wanted - it's a lot to juggle, a tripod, a dog and a baby in a stroller! But it's nice to try get a different spot for photos. Even if I'm not changing up my outfits, I can change the spots I stand in when I get the photos, right? haha.

Kameleonz Bali Sunglasses and Discount Code | Evening at Wintergarden Brisbane

I'm blogging less regularly as life revolves around baby T. I still have photos from last week to post, as nap times have been a little shorter than I'd like! First though, I wanted to share a couple of outfits from this week as they include an exclusive promo code and a little information about the late-night shopping trip I shared on instagram.

Here's what I wore to take advantage of Brisbane's "winter heat wave":
Aussie blogger chambray shirt dress converse louis vuitton neverfull printed scarf
Sunglasses: Bali sunglasses C/O Kameleonz
ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs scarf in Island pine-print
Dress: Ezra chambray shift dress (on sale!, new purchase)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

One benefit of being home with baby and not commuting means that I get to avoid the cold early morning starts and take advantage of the almost summer-like warmer winter afternoons. It was the perfect chance to wear my new chambray dress and go bare-legged. I'm wearing new sunglasses too, thanks to Kim from Kameleonz Shades. She extended a little treat for all my readers - 20% discount at Kameleonz with the code 'MICA'!

I chose to get the 'Bali' shades. They are polarised and have UV 400 protection. Now that I'm driving a lot more, polarised sunglasses are really helpful, and I couldn't resist the awesome bluey-green metallic lenses on the Bali. Like all of the Kameleonz range, the sunnies come with interchangeable side arms, so you can mix and match depending on what you're wearing. Such a great idea! I'm wearing the teal, but the Bali glasses also come with green and black arms too that you can see in the picture above.

They are really affordable for what is essentially 3 different sunglasses, but an extra discount always helps. Whether you need them for the US summer or sunny Australian winter, you can still use the discount code as they ship internationally. I can confirm shipping to Australia is really quick too!

Last worn: printed scarf, white Converse, Louis Vuitton Neverfull. First time I've worn the dress and sunnies.

Here's what I wore to go out for the evening:
winter stripe tee dress tights ankle boots leather jackets blue skull scarf
JacketAsos Black by Markus Lupfer printed leather jacket
ScarfAlexander McQueen skull scarf in light blue
Dress: Atmos&Here navy stripe tee dress (on sale!, new purchase)
ShoesAsos Aggie leather western ankle boots in black
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Earlier this week I had the chance to get dressed up a bit and head out to Brisbane Wintergarden for a special event. My first evening out since baby T arrived! Was a little sad to be missing bath time, but it was a fun night.

Wanted to be comfortable and warm as it gets quite cool in the winter evenings, and I wanted to wear my new striped dress. The leather jacket, scarf and ankle boots kept me cosy, and I added the bright handbag to stop the outfit being too blue.

At Wintergarden we were treated to champagne, nibblies, and the chance to shop and hear more about the latest fashions coming into the centre. I shared some photos on instagram. We stopped at Seed Heritage, Coach, Mecca Maxima, MJ Bale and Designer Archives.
At Seed Heritage we got to see the new Seed Collection that's coming into stores in August. If you love luxe fabrics you should check it out, so many nice pieces. When we got to shop I did get a little distracted by the baby section and splurged on baby T, but I picked myself up a cute scarf too.  I volunteered for a demonstration at Mecca and got a mini-makeover in the form of cat eye makeup. Not a look I'd have tried myself, so it was really fun to sport it for an evening.
The Coach store was another highlight, we got to hear more about the new direction the brand is going in design-wise, and the new collection that is launching on the 15th September. Worth saving for! Also had the chance to fall in love with the Smythe bag, it's really pretty!

It was my first blogger event, and I really enjoyed it, despite missing baby T a bit. Even had the chance to meet another Brissy blogger, Pip from Outside is Colours. She has such a flair for fashion, check out her instagram!

Last worn: printed leather jacket, skull scarf, Asos ankle boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita. First time I've worn the dress.

Winter Wear and Post-Baby Swimwear Buying Tips

Baby T has arrived, and I'm blogging less regularly as life revolves around a newborn. I don't manage to get out of pyjamas every day, we are still in the early stages!

Here's what I wore to run some errands:
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
JacketAsos Black by Markus Lupfer printed leather jacket
ScarfAlexander McQueen skull scarf in light blue (currently on sale!)
Tee: Glassons long sleeve top black and white stripe
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Wearing this skull scarf with stripes again! I like the combination of black and blue too. Looking for easy outfit options I can put together quickly. Stripes, maxi skirt, converse and a cute scarf is a helpful formula when I'm not sure what to wear.

We called in our always eager family to baby sit while DH and I ran around trying to complete some errands one particularly cold early morning. Very grateful for family being able to help us. It's easy to do all of the required running around for documentation and things when we know baby T is content at home rather than being exposed to a bunch of strange places and people when he's so young. It's flu season so we are trying to keep him home as much as possible.

Last worn: Ray-Bans, leather jacket, skull scarf, striped top, maxi skirt, Converse, Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

Here's what I wore to spend some time by the pool:
Sunnies: Orange sunglasses from Paddy's Market in Sydney
Swimwear: Sugar Smash single strap one piece c/o Funkita
Sarong: black floral print sarong from my sister's travels
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual

The lovely Chris from Funkita emailed me to let me know about the latest collection 'Swim this City' and ask if I wanted a suit. I'm a big Funkita fan, so of course I said yes! Will be wearing this frequently when I get back to my usual routines and can go swimming again. Although it is winter and our pool is outdoors, it's in the sun most of the day and it can get up to 25 degrees (Celsius) in the middle of the day here in Queensland. Good enough weather for a dip. Sadly I couldn't actually wear this to swim today as I still don't have clearance from my doctor to get back in the water after birth yet - this was taken when baby was a month old.

I don't often share my exercise or swimwear on the blog, but for a change I thought I'd use the opportunity to share some post-baby swimwear tips, and happily show that it takes a while for your body to bounce back after pregnancy. I've been getting some comments about how quickly I lost the baby weight. I haven't lost all the baby weight - it will take a while to do so, and I'm in no rush. I still have a noticeable bump, I'm just dressing it differently. Dressing for a post-baby body, you want to hide your belly rather than draw attention to it like you do when you're pregnant. It's also tricky to know what size you will be in things as so many aspects of your body have changed!

I might not look as good as the athletes who wear Funkita swimwear when they compete, but with the tips below I feel comfortable and confident enough to share swimsuit photos on the internet 4 weeks after giving birth. :)

Some tips to find good swimwear for exercising post-baby:

  • Buy from a brand you have experience with or that has a good size chart to ensure a proper fit. I've got multiple pieces from Funkita, and the sizing chart is really easy for me to follow. I even sized up to get a piece that I could wear during pregnancy, and it fitted well. My pre-pregnancy bikinis still don't fit yet, so paying attention to measurements is important.
  • Go for a bold print. I love the print on this suit. It is form fitting but the colourful print is really helpful at disguising the tummy. Black would be flattering too, but I think a print is better than a block colour. My stomach looks much smaller with the printed suit on than without.
  • Try a one-piece. I'm definitely a bikini girl, all my other swimwear consists of bikinis so this is the first one-piece I've worn for a long time. Not only are they really popular at the moment, having the fabric covering my post-baby belly makes me feel more comfortable. I'm still getting used to the way my belly looks, it's helpful to have it covered up so I don't get self-conscious!
  • A sarong is a wonderful cover-up when you're not in the water, and a chance to do a bit of print-mixing to further draw the eye away from the belly too!

Hope that you found the tips helpful, or know someone who might. It was fun sharing my pregnancy outfits on the blog, and I'm enjoying continuing to share what I wear and my thoughts now about life with baby T.

Third Trimester Casual Maxi Skirt Outfits for the Baby Bump: Stripe Tee, RM MAM | Ombre, LV Neverfull

Here's what I wore for casual Friday:

Necklacecustom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
Tee: Atmos&Here oversized stripe tee (new purchase)
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
ShoesNine West silver strap sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Marc by Marc Jacobs enamel turnlock stripey hinge black and white bangle, Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Being in my third trimester, I've been finding a few clothes that fit me in the earlier trimesters definitely don't fit me any longer, as baby is growing so well! I still can't quite kick the habit of browsing through online clothing sales when I get email notifications though ;)

Earlier in the week I came across this oversized stripe tee on The Iconic. I have another Atmos&here oversized tee, and I love it. I last wore it to hide my growing belly, but it still fits the bump. When I saw it came in a striped version, I just had to get it, and I picked one up in black too....haha! Resulted in a very casual outfit for casual Friday at work. Some days I'm so grateful for the very relaxed dress code we have in the office, makes getting dressed easy.

Last worn: jersey maxi skirt, silver sandals, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB. First time I've worn the tee as it's a new purchase.

Here's what I wore to go shopping today:

Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Disney Couture Winnie the Pooh bangle, Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Had a bit of a busy Saturday! Spent the morning with DH shopping in baby stores, went car shopping, took a test drive, had lunch and then I went shopping with Mum for some maternity essentials. I ended up picking up two new maxi skirts from Target too. You can probably tell that I've been in a very maxi skirt mood lately, so it was easy to justify the purchases. Plus the stretchy elastic waists and fabric mean I can buy my pre-pregnancy size and still accommodate the bump!

This maxi skirt has a small elasticated section on the back, but as it's so long I need to wear it high enough over the bump that it's all it needs. Thought that this red singlet would be quite complimentary with it. It certainly got a lot of lovely comments on instagram. :) Felt very colourful and summery all day.

Zara Belted Tunic Dress, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC | Grey Top, Skinny Jeans, Louis Vuitton Neverfull

Here's what I wore on Sunday:
Zara printed bib front tunic dress worn belted over second trimester baby bump

Rebecca Minkoff coated canvas berry stripe mini MAC
NecklaceDogeared 3 Wishes stardust bead necklace
Dress: Zara printed bib front tunic dress
Belt: C/O Poppywinkle brown weave belt
Shoes: Wittner 'Columbia' cross strap sandals in tan
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

The last time I wore this dress I'd picked it out as it was lightweight and it hid the baby bump nicely in photos. Although in person it was impossible to hide when I moved :) Now, the bump definitely isn't hidden in photos any more! So amazing being able to see the pregnancy progress through my blog. Really blessed!

Wore the dress again today as it was a lightweight and easy option for the heat. Although the combination of the belt and the baby bump made it a little shorter than I liked when the breeze picked up. Hopefully I can wear it again in pregnancy, just maybe when it's cooler with leggings underneath.

Last worn: printed dress, weave belt, Wittner sandals, Rebecca Minkoff canvas mini MAC.

Here's what I wore for a training course today:

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets

Today I had another training course outside of the office. I much prefer wearing jeans to training days, as you never know how cold the rooms will be, from experience it's mostly too cold for bare legs! As there was no provided dress code, I went with my black skinny jeans as they can easily pass for pants and blend in if everyone is in business wear ;) Carried my neverfull bag as I had to carry snacks and training material around.

Had a day of training on Thursday, which was a lovely break from my currently hectic work. The course was held off-site, and had a really relaxed atmosphere. I learned a lot, and I'm looking forward to putting into practice some new techniques to make my job easier.

There was no dress code provided, so I wore what I would normally wear to the office and went with a simple outfit, passing off my maternity jeans as plain pants again ;) This top has been hanging around in the back of my wardrobe a while, so brought it out as it's going to be really valuable as the bump grows. I alternate between thinking I have plenty of clothes to see me through the rest of the pregnancy, and days where I can't seem to find anything to wear that looks decent and start to panic that I'll run out of clothes. I blame pregnancy hormones!

Had to wear a little bit of pink today for Valentine's Day! Not as bold as the bright red dress I wore last year, but a nod to the day just the same. And of course, jeans for casual Friday. So grateful for Jeanswest maternity jeans!

DH and I finished work a little early today to go and check out my photo in the 'My Human Family: Rescue Dogs Find a Home' exhibition. It's been in Sydney and Canberra, and now it's in Brisbane. Out of 400 entries, the photo I took of DH and Cooper relaxing in the hammock was one of the 40 chosen to be displayed. It was so nice getting to see my photo, I've never had anything in an exhibition before so I was really excited. Worth checking out if you're in Brisbane! It's here for another week and there are so many great photos and stories.

Hope that you have a great Valentine's Day, however you are celebrating. :)

Striped Maxi Dress, Louis Vuitton Neverfull | Black Top, Asos Graphic Pencil Skirt, Balenciaga Sorbet City Bag

If you haven't seen it already, you might want to watch my latest short video or this post may raise a few questions, haha! Thank you for all of your kind words and congratulations on the reveal post!

Here's what I wore on Sunday:
three dots striped maxi dress second trimester baby bump non maternity dress

Simple maxi dress for the weekend. Although I've worn this bag and dress together before, repeated the combo again on Sunday as I had to cart some paperwork around. The neverfull is a great bag for that!

This dress highlights the bump a little. I'm really glad I don't have to hide it now that I've spilled the beans! :) We wanted to keep the secret to ourselves for a while, and to have the joy of surprising our families on Christmas day. It was a really wonderful Christmas! Telling all of our friends and family was so exciting, and we were so pleased to share our happiness with them. I also thought it best to tell my boss before I posted anything online about it.

Last worn: Rayban, stripe maxi dress, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton damier Neverfull.

While I've told my boss and the relevant managers know for planning reasons, I haven't shared the news with everyone else at work yet, for a handful of reasons that I won't go into. As a result, I'm minimising the bump as much as possible in my office wear, despite how pleased and happy I am to see it progress! My latest Asos sale purchases were maternity work wear like today's pencil skirt, to help with appropriate office dressing.

I'm also throwing a waterfall cardi on top while I'm in the office, instead of my usual straight line cardi. I think the drape makes a difference. When I did quietly share the news with one of my friends in the office, she confessed that she had noticed one afternoon and just thought I'd gained a little weight, so hopefully everyone who notices anything is thinking that and I can keep things under wraps for a little longer. ;)

For the immediate future, the blog will be a mix of minimising the bump for the office, and dressing as I please on the weekends. Baby will be mentioned from time to time, as it is at the point where the bump influences what I can wear, but I don't intend to turn this blog into anything other than a daily outfit blog. You can always email me or leave a comment if you want to know anything baby-specific! :)

Although most people headed back to work Monday, DH and I have a couple more days off. I go back to the office mid-week. Dressed simply for Monday. We went out for lunch, ran some errands, and had an appointment in the evening. Luckily we were indoors when the heatwave-breaking storm hit, and we didn't have to venture out and get back in the car until it had mostly blown over. I did wish I'd worn something more substantial on my feet as we ran through the rain back to the car though, haha.

Nice loose layers for today. Still quite warm, although no-where near the temperatures of last week! Just nice and casual for visiting some family.

Really loved this top the first time I wore it, but have been unsure how to wear it again since as it's a bit long on me. Partially tucked it in again, with the maxi skirt I thought it looked quite nice.

Sales and Outfits! | Christmas Day Dress, Boxing Day Maxi Skirt, LV Neverfull Tote Bag

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with friends and family!

Here's what I wore on Christmas day:

Necklacecustom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
Dress: Asos biker print maxi dress
Shoes: Wittner 'Columbia' cross strap sandals in tan
Bracelets: the usual plus gifted gold bangle set
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Knew this dress would be perfect to wear for Christmas. I've had it an embarrassingly long time without wearing it as it was too long, but had it shortened last week so it's much more wearable now. It has a dipped hem, but unfortunately you can't see it well in the photos as Cooper sat right in front of it! The bracelets were a birthday gift which worked perfectly with the dress.

We had a wonderful Christmas day with church in the morning, lunch at the in-laws and dinner at my parents. My sister and I received a matching pair of onesies as a Christmas gift, so near the end of the day we had changed out of our dresses and were sitting around in our onesies, haha!

We stayed at my parent's place overnight, so we got to spend Boxing Day together today. Had the chance to wear some of my new Christmas goodies! I'd asked for bracelets for gifts and got so many nice ones that it was hard to choose what to wear first, but thought these beaded ones would go nicely with the necklace I'd packed.

Had a huge breakfast, leftovers for lunch and dinner and spent some time in the pool to cool off. It's been a busy few days for us with a bit of travel, but it's been wonderful spending time with family. Was so good to relax and spend time with everyone, as well as seeing everyone starting to use and enjoy their Christmas presents.

Christmas Eve: Asos Black Beaded Necklace Dress, Louis Vuitton Neverfull

Here's what I wore on Christmas eve:

Sunglasses: gifted Cotton On 'Kirsten sunnie' in yellow
Dress: Asos tribal necklace dipped hem black dress
    Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
    Bracelets: the usual
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Thought this dress would be a good thing to wear on a very hot Christmas eve, and the built in beading means no extra accessories were needed! I bought this dress years ago, but it doesn't get worn often as it's hand wash only because of the delicate beading. It's so comfortable I should wear it more often! I'm pleased how many nice pieces I'm finding in my wardrobe when I make an effort to wear more of what I own and buy less.

Scheduled this post as I will be away from the computer on Christmas day, spending the day with family. I hope you have a wonderful and safe Christmas, however you celebrate.

(The cute Cooper image we put in our Christmas cards this year!)

Last worn: yellow sunglasses, studded sandals, Louis Vuitton neverfull. First time I've worn the dress on the blog.
