First, the Shopbop sale has just gotten even better! Get an extra 25% off sale items with the code '25MORE' for the next 3 days only! I keep the Sales and Discounts page updated regularly, but this sale is so good I had to include it in a post too. Perfect time to buy all those items you had added to your cart waiting for a justification to buy. Or is that just me? ;)
What I wore:
Jacket: Wittner 'Santa Fe' cobalt blue leather jacket
Scarf: Alexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarfDress: Zara printed bib front tunic dress
Shoes: Asos Cleo leather boots in tan
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
Why I wore it:
The challenge was 'oldie but fave', and this was Kiki's take on it. This dress is only 3 years old (I bought it on a trip to Sydney), so it's certainly not the oldest dress I own. It's definitely one of my favourites though! I was actually surprised to see that I hadn't worn this dress with these tall boots before, in all the (15) times I've worn it. It's one of those pieces that is perfect in summer or layered up in winter, a great all-rounder and I'm so pleased I bought it all those years ago. This is probably one of my shortest lived outfits that has ever been on the blog though, despite how much I liked it. As usual, after a busy morning everyone was fed, clothed and ready to go out the door. I stopped to take photos and then after putting the tripod away I turned to baby T to go put him in his car seat....and he vomited! My first instinct was to scoop him up and cuddle him, which didn't work out nicely for my outfit as he wasn't quite finished!
I had been debating wearing this jacket that morning, as it is one of my most expensive items of clothing (more expensive than some of my hand bags!). Lydia left a comment last time I wore the jacket suggesting it would look nice with this dress, so I was eager to try the combination. I foolishly decided that as it was only a short morning out, going to the library and then playgroup, my jacket would be okay. I had wanted to give it its first wearing in a while, after not wearing it a lot last year when baby T was still a newborn as I was worried about him spitting up on it!
Had to text my friends to tell them we wouldn't be seeing them, and I spent the rest of the day at home with a sick baby after getting us changed out of our messed up clothes. My outfits for looking after a sick baby are never blog-worthy, and they never tend to stay clean for long!
I might wear this exact outfit again another day as I didn't get a chance to wear it for long and I really liked it. I wonder if this disappointment is what people who have 'professional' fashion blogs feel, getting all dressed up in something you like and it only lasts for a few camera clicks? I prefer actually wearing my clothes, and enjoying them!
Last worn: cobalt blue leather jacket, Alexander McQueen skull scarf, zara printed tunic dress, tan boots, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.
Other ways to wear: leather jacket, skull scarf with stripes and metallic denim, printed tunic dress in summer hiding a first trimester baby belly, tall boots with skinny jeans, LV speedy bandouliere bag for the office.
What I wore:
Scarf: Alexander McQueen pink pashmina in skull and floral print
Dress: Ezra chambray shift dress
Shoes: Asos Aggie leather western ankle boots in black
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
Why I wore it:
This chambray challenge was the hardest one for Kiki and I! We spoke about it quite a few times, as we were unsure how to pull it off. I was a step ahead of Kiki as I already owned a chambray dress, but I have never been to sure about how to style it for cooler weather! A chambray dress is also the Style It Project challenge for June, so I got a few ideas about how to make my chambray dress work for winter from Kimba's blog.My first thought was to try leggings and ankle boots with this, as that was the outfit idea I liked the most, but I don't have any full-length leggings. With the darker denim panel at the hem of the dress and the leggings cutting off above the ankle boots...it was not a flattering look. So I wore exactly the same thing, but with tights instead. I think it looks nice this way. It does make me wonder why I keep holding onto this dress though as I always find it hard to wear. I'm not letting go of it just yet, will wait until spring comes around again and see how I feel about it then before I decide. It is easier to wear in the warmer weather.
Last worn: printed leather jacket, pink skull scarf, chambray shift dress, Asos black ankle boots, Louis Vuitton Speedy bandouliere (above).
Other ways to wear: leather jacket in spring, pink skull scarf with yellow tee, chambray dress with converse, ankle boots in spring.

Love the outfits! Like you, I find it hard sometimes to let go of clothes too....especially when I think I might have the moment to wear them soon....which sometimes never happen. LOL.
ReplyDeletehaha, yes I have so many pieces just waiting in my wardrobe until it's the 'perfect' time to wear them, just means they hardly ever get worn :(
DeleteI have a chambray dress too but I've only worn it once because I am ultra lazy and it needs ironing. So slack. Although I quite like it, I am questioning its longevity in my wardrobe because I straight up do not iron ever. I am trying to resist the urge to click that ShopBop link . . . must . . . stay . . . strong . . . !
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - I also try to avoid ironing and sales, haha! I've spent way too much this month....although there were some cute bags and shoes on sale...I didn't buy any. I may have added a few to my cart, but then I stepped away. Willpower!
DeleteI love the pop colors on both look, absolutely stunning.

I love your skull scarves - always have. In the first outfit it looks like the print of the dress sort of mimics that of the scarf. I have a hard time letting go of a lot of my clothes usually. But I have to. =)
ReplyDeleteAw that look is amazing! I love your bag and the scarf is a perfect idea to complete the whole outfit!

I love how you styled your chambray dress for the cooler season! Such a cute look! That bright pink scarf is fabulous!

Again I like both outfits. The blue jacket has a beautiful color. The color blocked chambray dress looks like one of those pieces that can go any one way with styling.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm not an ultra professional fashion blogger, as in I don't take outfit pics every day, but my outfits are never just for a couple pictures. And often if the clothes aren't dirty, I'll re-use them in different combinations throughout the next days. I would really dislike having things in my closet that were only used to shoot a picture once. Even my prop umbrella is being used ;-)

I agree Alex - much better to have a wardrobe full of clothes you wear and enjoy, instead of just having a bunch of clothes that are pretty for taking a photo but have no practical use! :)
Deletethe scarf is so cute :) I like both outfits , they look really good on you :)

Your blue Zara tunic has performed marvellously, 15 times in 3 years is a pretty good number.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I really like is when you can actually see that you have worn one garment in so many different ways, for me its like a little sense of accomplishment,
Oh and answering your comment, I won't be keeping the headband as it is a matching headband to the top and I want the person who gets it next to have the set :)
I guess it makes sense to let the headband go too as it's part of a set :)
DeleteI have been thinking about adding to the blog the number of times I've worn something, but as I haven't been doing it since the beginning it's a bit time consuming. I've been doing it here and there, as I find it interesting! I'm pleased to see I've worn it a few times :)
Both dresses are super cute! I really like the blue leather jacket in the first look :)

I am absolutely obsessed with moto jackets! Is your blue jacket okay after Baby T's incident? I'm afraid of that for when I have kids too. I won't want to get any of my treasured clothes ruined! Do you have any tips for that?
ReplyDeleteMy number one tip would be the one I didn't follow, don't wear fancy clothes around an unwell baby, haha! Make sure everything is machine washable is a good start. Also baby wipes! Lifesavers. No good on leather though.
DeleteI'm hoping the jacket comes good, fingers crossed!
Oh no! Poor baby T! I hope he is feeling better. I hate it when babies are sick, it's just not fair... At least you were able to snap a few photos. Lydia was totally right, that jacket and dress pairing are divine. I really need to up my jacket game this fall. I used to be really into blazers, but I over did that post baby because they hid the extra lbs. Now that I'm back to a pretty comfortable size I just don't care for them much. Maybe a few jackets will be a good addition.
ReplyDeleteI'm still bummed I skipped a day, but at the same time I didn't want to buy something to wear one time. I was never comfortable or confident in any of the chambray options I found. Perhaps if it were cooler out it'd be different? I love how you styled yours!
It's perfectly normal to skip a day when you're not feeling it, better to wear something you like than feel uncomfortable for the day just because that's what a challenge said to wear! :)
DeleteBaby is feeling a bit better, we've had a tough time lately healt-wise, just because he's started at daycare and I've started back at work - germs everywhere! haha.
I love all your scarves you always have super cute ones :) I really like both looks (as always) both dresses are nice :)
ReplyDeleteRedLip&Love
My clothes with the baby in general never stay clean for a long, hehe! Is Baby T ok now?
ReplyDeleteMost clothes of famous fashion bloggers are gifted, but I'm so with you, Mica! I love to style my stuff over and over again in different ways. Beautiful accessoiries collection you have, dear! In love with both leather jackets! Great color combo as always! <3

DeleteI have never tried short dresses in cold weather before. My fear has always been that the leggings might not be sufficient. I should give it a shot one day. I love the blue jacket! The color is adorable and cheerful. And your Alex Mc Q scarf collection is TDF, Mica. Enjoy your day, I'm off to Shopbop now ;)
ReplyDeleteHave fun shopping the sale! I had to skip it this time around, I've bought quite a lot this month eek haha.
