Despite the chambray being a bit of a pain to iron I'm really glad I got this skirt. I'd been thinking about a denim maxi for a while before I got this one. I still have a lot of outfit ideas for it. It's so simple to wear.
What I wore:
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Ruby Olive Softies Charlotte teething necklaceTank: Atmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
Skirt: Noisy May long denim maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
It had been a while since I last wore this striped tank and it met a few of the days style challenges on Instagram. I wasn't sure how the trapeze style tank would work with the voluminous maxi skirt but half-tucked in it works.I tend to do a half-tuck with most of my tops, it's a style trick I use when looking for different ways to wear things as well as when I need to stop things overwhelming my petite frame. I really liked this outfit, ideal for running a few errands. I liked it last time I wore this chambray skirt with stripes too.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, striped tank, chambray maxi skirt, Havaianas, Balenciaga tempete Day bag.
Other ways to wear: stripe tank and flares, monochrome outfit with chambray maxi skirt, Balenciaga tempete Day bag and shorts.
More Denim Maxi Skirts Under $50:
The first one is the most similar to the skirt I'm wearing. Bargain price too!
What I wore:
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Wilma teething necklace in pale daffodilTank: Cotton On red singlet
Skirt: Noisy May long denim maxi skirt
Shoes: slim gold Havaianas
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold (on sale!)
Nails: OPI Breakfast at Tiffany collection 'I believe in manicures' and 'Sunrise...bedtime'
Why I wore it:
Although it's the 11th time I've worn this chambray maxi skirt, it's the first time I've tucked a top in to show off the elastic waistband. Maxi skirts with elastic waists are the most comfortable item of clothing I own, even though they look like you put more effort when compared to jeans. I wore them a lot in the post-partum days, after enjoying their stretchiness across pregnancy.Hit just two style challenges on Instagram as I wore this to the annual Chinese New Year banquet with the in-laws and wanted to wear something red - this tank being the only red thing I can breastfeed in (and even then it's not ideal for feeding). I did briefly consider wearing shorts and my red kimono, but wanted to look a little more dressed up for dinner so a maxi skirt was perfect. The yellow bag and teething necklace aren't quite gold, but it was as close as I could get to a red and gold outfit while staying baby-friendly!
Last worn: red tank, chambray maxi skirt (above), gold Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mustard yellow Regan bag.
Other ways to wear: red tank in winter, chambray maxi skirt and magenta pink, Rebecca Minkoff mustard yellow Regan bag and denim shorts.

DeleteOh, wow, I've not seen a chambray maxi in a long while and nothing like this. This looks so comfortable and great for your occasion and style challenges, given the current climate. <3 Wish you a lovely week, Mica.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great skirt--it's SO versatile, which I love. Both outfits are fun, I love the stripes in the first one. You have such a great collection of teething necklaces too. I just got a couple and I'm really excited to use them--I didn't have any when Jona was a baby.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find them as useful as I do! :)

I could barely even tell that that is chambray- what a cool skirt!
ReplyDeleteI love stripes and bright colours so definitely like both these looks. I'd like to add some chambray to my wardrobe, I've wanted to for ages but need to find the right piece. Thanks so much for your comment on my last post. Really, really appreciate your help and also to know you understand!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I could help although so sorry we've both been through that difficulty!
DeleteI love that you've styled the denim maxi with a fitted top tucked in and a looser one tucked out. It's pretty amazing that one small detail can really change the overall appearance of the ensemble! I can't wait until it is warm enough to start wearing outfits like these again =)

Yes, you can make such a difference in an outfit with small tweaks :)
DeleteI am loving denim maxi skirts at the moment! I bought an a-line one from the thrift store and I wear almost every weekend (only on weekends because I need more office-appropriate clothes for weekdays). :)

I've never owned a chambray maxi before, but I love the look of yours and now, I think I may want to get one for the spring. Especially since they're what I'm looking forward to most come spring and early summer, when my bump will be the largest. Thanks for sharing and I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!

that denim maxi skirt looks great on you...and how cute is that doggie:)?
ReplyDeleteI have always been a fan of half tucking tops! I am chesty, so tucking something all the way in gives me an odd shape. When I have tuck it gives the illusion that I am proportionate, which couldn't be farther from reality. (; I call it "smizing." Another blogger friend on here taught me the word and it's basically dressing yourself to give the illusion of a smaller frame. I do it all the time now! However Joshua doesn't really "get" it. lol
ReplyDeletehaha I like that word! I get it, even if your hubby doesn't! :)
DeleteThe chambray skirt looks very nice Mica, the second look with the yellow accents is my fave.
ReplyDeleteThanks all for your lovely comments :) I adore my chambray maxi skirt, I'm a big fan of denim anything!
