What I wore:
Jacket: thrifted Valleygirl pinstripe blazer
Necklace: Tai gold alphabet necklace layered with Roie Designs long freshwater pearl necklace with tasselTank: thrifted Cotton On yellow tank (new purchase)
Skirt: Target grey marle maxi skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Swing bag in canary yellow (on sale in pink!)
Why I wore it:
Wore this after the dawn service on ANZAC day. I had layered up for the dawn service in a black top and cosy hoodie to stay warm, and it was nice to remove those layers and show some colour for the rest of the day. It's the first time I've worn this tank - one of my new purchases.I decided to wear this blazer as it fit the 'fine lines' theme for the last fox pack style dare challenge on instagram, and as it was a little chilly to have my arms uncovered. This is the third time I've worn this blazer (previously worn here and here). I bought it on one of my op-shopping (thrifting) trips while I was on my maternity leave, thinking it would fit perfectly when I didn't have the baby bump in the way. I wasn't too impressed with the way it fit when I was pregnant, and this time around I wasn't entirely happy either. I think it's the shoulder pads and the placement of the cuffed sleeves. It's leaving my wardrobe, no point hanging onto it if I am fussing about the way it sits when I wear it. I'm certainly not lacking blazers!
Leaving My Wardrobe: pinstripe blazer
Last worn: pinstripe blazer, grey maxi skirt, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff yellow Swing bag. First time I've worn the tank as it is a new purchase.
Other ways to wear: the same outfit at 40 weeks pregnant! Regular blazer as maternity wear, grey maxi skirt with pink striped tank, spring dress and Converse, yellow bag with a blue dress.
What I wore:
Sunnies: Rayban new Wayfarers
Kimono: Choies red vintage pattern kimonoNecklace: House of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
Tee: Thrifted Dotti blue tee
Skirt: AT by Atmos&Here Mars striped maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey
Why I wore it:
Spent the morning at the shops with DH and baby T, and then we had the grandparents over in the afternoon, so just a nice casual and comfortable outfit.I've worn this kimono with a blue top before and really liked the colour combination, so I thought it would be nice with this new-to-me cobalt blue tee. And it was a lovely little bit of print mixing with the striped maxi skirt. I'm really pleased to see that I haven't actually worn this kimono with grey yet - I'm being a little bolder with my colour choices lately, encouraged by the personal stylist doing 'my colours' briefly so I know a little bit more about what things look good on me and look good together.
Last worn: Ray-ban Wayfarer, printed kimono, striped maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM bag. First time I've worn the tee as it is a recent purchase.
Other ways to wear: kimono and gold jeans, striped maxi skirt with pastel cami, grey RM MAM bag with lace outfits.

I always want to go and get some bold plain tops . . . and usually end up leaving the store with black or grey!
ReplyDeletehaha yes I'm the worst for always buying grey. Because it goes with everything!
DeleteI couldn't see any flaw with the pinstripe blazer until you mention shoulders. Yup, I think they are a tad big on you. The yellow/grey combination is so fresh, it makes me think, if I have anything yellow in my closet?
ReplyDeleteyeah I think shoulder pads are never good on me! I could try take them out..but I'll just donate it back so someone who will enjoy it more can have it :)
Deleteyou look amazing my dear, great pictures! :D the first outfit is my favorite <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer that the blazer isn't working out in terms of fit! I really love the lightweight look and the summery pinstripe! And you look great in yellow! Great choice to add some bright tops.
ReplyDeleteGina- On the Daily Express
It is a great idea, just not that nice to wear, so better to let it go :)
DeleteThat bright yellow top goes so well with that blazer, all the times you wore it it looked great :)
ReplyDeleteThe kimono and skirt looks very nice paired together as well!
Hope you had a great mothers day :)
RedLip&Love
I'm definitely lacking in the bright top department, haha, but that's because I don't really wear bright colors. I'm more about the darks and jewel tones.
ReplyDeleteYea, the Harry Potter studio is super cool, if you ever get back to London you have to see it ;)
And my knee brace is because of an old gymnastics injury. I hyper-extended it twice so it hurts when I walk too much
http://www.closet-fashionista.com/
Sorry to hear about your knee injury! I wondered, as it was similar to mine, although I hurt mine in an accident, nothing as fun as gymnastics!
DeleteLoving the grey and yellow combo. Grey is one of my favorites neutrals besides tan. Great spring-summer looks!

Grey & Yellow go so well together. I didn't find anything wrong with the blazer judging from the big outfit picture at first glance, it actually looks very nice with the top, but you are right, if you are fuzzing about the fit everytime you are wearing it, it ain't a good keeper.
ReplyDeleteAlex - Funky Jungle
Yep, better to get rid of it and wear one of my other blazers I like the fit of better! :)
DeleteI always like seeing how you have worn things through pregnancy and non-pregnany because I think you did such a great job at that. Your yellow and grey look good together.

Straight A Style
Thanks Amy! I wanted to wear a lot of my regular wardrobe as much as possible during pregnancy :)
DeleteMy favorite place to score basics are thrift shops. Especially layering pieces that I know I will only use for a season or two. If I can find a versatile top that layers a billion ways and only pay a few bucks for it, then I can splurge on a nice pair of jeans or shoes. (my fav.) (;
ReplyDeleteI know I've mentioned it before, but I love these leaving your wardrobe bits on your blog. I've been really trying to let go of anything that doesn't make me feel 100% wonderful. I've downsized a lot with many gaps that need to be filled, but what I'm creating instead is a fabulous wardrobe I can feel confident in. (:
Hehe yep I save on clothes and splurge on accessories! :)
DeleteI'm glad you like this topic on my blog! I'm trying to get rid of all the 'okay' pieces in my wardrobe and leave all of the confident and fantastic feeling pieces too! It's a work in progress as our tastes change over time I think!
Love this hello bag and top. xx

I love wearing bright colours, so I naturally adore the yellow and grey outfit w/ the blazer.I can understand if you aren't too pleased with the fit. I definitely have a good number of blazers to alternate too.
ReplyDeleteBold & Eco Décor
Yep, I also have a lot of other blazers I could wear instead, haha. Better to let this one go! :)
DeleteYou always rock maxi skirts and you dress them so well! I love how you style them every way. With the blazer and the kimono! Both are such pretty looks!
ReplyDeleteDenise | Fashion Love Letters
Thanks! I do like my maxi skirts :)
Deletegray and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations! you style brights so well!

I never thought yellow and grey would look this pretty together! I am going to try this colour combo this week too!! Also I love your duster in the second outfit :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you know how much I love your purses!! You have the best ones. Brights are constants in my wardrobe. They are perfect for spring and summer. You got lucky finding great ones. Lovely yellow. One of my favorite warm weather colors. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day dear. XOXO, Elif
ReplyDeletehehe, yep I do love my handbags!

I think you styled that kimono wonderfully well - I would have never thought of pairing it with a long skirt.. quite genius Mica!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lorena! It's a bit more of a slouchy look than when it's worn with denim, but sometimes you just want to be slouchy and comfy! :)
DeleteLove the bright tops!

I love wearing bright colours but I know what you mean about them being few and far between. Shame about the pinstripe jacket but if you're not happy with the fit you probably won't wear it. Hopefully you'll replace it with one even better.
ReplyDeletevery true - no point keeping it unworn if I don't like the way it wears :)
DeleteOnce again I love both outfits. The first one is just like a ray of sunshine with that yellow top and matching bag....such a lovely way to incorporate colours into the look.
ReplyDeleteColour tops sure come in handy! I remember when you said how that was one thing you realized you needed in your wardrobe detox, so good you found the one you can wear everywhere. I need to get myself one.
The second looks is awesome! I love the subtle mix of prints...the stripes and the floral! In addition, that blue top is fantastic.

It is good to try fill a wardrobe gap after the detox! :)
DeleteI don't have many plain coloured tops, either. Yellow looks great on you!

It's tough to find a good fitting blazer. It's really cute they way you styled it, but if it doesn't fit it was right to let it go!
ReplyDeleteYep, better to let it go and wear the ones that do fit nicely instead, haha!
DeleteLove that yellow top on you and your hair is exceptionally cute in those photos also! The bag - always swoon worthy! I've been craving another RM bag….
ReplyDeleteCarylee | more pieces of me
haha I am always craving another RM bag...they make great bags!
DeleteI love the gray and yellow color combo. You look stunning, love! xx

Oh I definitely need to do some sort of closet purge too so that I can get rid of stuff and I love how you used it to see the gaps in your wardrobe. That bright yellow top is so darling on you and it's so cool that you have a matching bag!

Good on you for thrifting your basic tops! Also, good work on quickly parting with a piece (the blazer) that isn't just right!
ReplyDeleteI haven't gone thrifting in ages but you're so right, they do organise by colour don't they. Stores right now are definitely focused more on monochromes and greys. It's nearly impossible to find anything other than that. I was shopping with my mum last week who was looking for plain coloured tanks to put under coats and stuff and we couldn't find much. Even at Target! Though, they did branch out into navy and red territory hahaha!

More yellow, madam! Looks amazing on you! I also love your pragmatic approach to wardrobe clearance!
ReplyDeleteI need to be a lot more active at cleaning out as I have way too many things haha!
DeleteYellow and gray are my favorite combination!! LOVE the bright hues. Sometimes its best to let go of some pieces than hanging on to them for no reason. I think its time for the blazer to find a new home.. :)

It is certainly time to let it go and make room for things I actually wear! :)
