Cyber Monday Sales! Easy Second Trimester Outfits: Bright Tanks and Maxi Skirts for Spring

I wore the tank top and maxi skirt combination frequently in my last pregnancy, so I have a go-to outfit for those 'I don't know what to wear' days. My maxi skirts have stretchy and comfortable elastic waistbands and are so easy to wear. Add a bright and colourful tank top and I'm set for a hot day! And comfortable too, even though everything I'm wearing is from my regular, non-maternity wardrobe it accommodates a baby bump nicely.

What I wore:

Away from Blue | Easy Spring Second trimester outfit stretchy tank printed maxi skirt

Away from the Blue | printed maxi skirt Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag plum
Necklace: thrifted pearl and heart charm long necklace
SingletJeanswest 'Jenni' basic singlet in festival fuchsia
Skirt: Izabel London Aztec print maxi skirt (C/O)
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs black leather Swarovski beaded wrap bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote in plum (on sale with 25% off and free shipping at Rebecca Minkoff)

Why I wore it:

More house hunting! I've mentioned it here and there on the blog but finding the perfect house is taking longer than we thought. Anyway, the outfit. This maxi skirt is quite a thick one but it wasn't too warm paired with the berry singlet.

I was really wishing I'd picked something different for my feet though. Buckling and unbuckling sandals before entering an open house when pregnant and juggling a toddler is not the easiest thing to do...I ended up leaving the sandals unbuckled by the time we got to the fourth house.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, berry tank, printed maxi skirt, Balenciaga sandals, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote.

Other ways to wearberry tank and a statement necklace, printed maxi skirt in winter, Balenciaga sandals and skinny jeans, purple Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote with a black dress.

If I wasn't having problems at checkout, the Rebecca Minkoff sale is the one I'd be shopping! I have my eye on the custom bag offerings! Sadly, I can't get past the shipping stage without getting an error. I've emailed but still haven't heard back.

What I wore:

Away from Blue | Spring second trimester pregnancy outfit lace kimono bright tank black maxi skirt

AwayFromBlue | green tank Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC with python embossed leather in aquamarine
JacketShein cream lace kimono (C/O)
NecklaceRoie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
TankJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Emerald green
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC with python embossed leather in aquamarine (on sale with 25% off and free shipping at Rebecca Minkoff)

Why I wore it:

It was a slightly cooler day than the one above, so I took the chance to add a kimono over the singlet and maxi skirt combo to try make it a little different.

I've worn this singlet and skirt together before, just with different accessories, and no kimono or baby belly. It's a nice simple combination. I don't wear a lot of green, so this singlet hasn't been worn often, but I'm being much more adventurous with colours after my wardrobe detox session with a personal stylist and I even went out and got a similar shade of green in a maternity tank.

Last worn: lace kimono, green singlet, black jersey maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff aquamarine mini MAC.

Other ways to wearlace kimono and a chambray dressgreen singlet at 39 weeks pregnant, maxi skirt and a graphic tee, Rebecca Minkoff aquamarine mini MAC and skinny jeans in winter.

Jeanswest New Tribe Collection - Sea Glass Green and Maternity Shorts

First up, if you're looking for Black Friday sales (especially ones that ship internationally and not just to the US) check out my sales guide for all the best ones and the coupon codes you need!

Last time I shared about the latest Jeanswest collection, I mentioned that they were having a 40% off sale. They are having one again now, it's in it's final days so hurry!

On the last day of the previous sale I caved and bought some more maternity wear. I had a bit of a giggle when I got an email a couple of days letter telling me about the New Tribe collection (including one of the tops I'd just bought) and asking if I wanted any pieces to try...

If you ever wanted confirmation that I only accept items to feature on the blog that I'd pick out to buy myself, that's a pretty strong sign! I took the chance to pick out something different instead. Wanted to share a little about the new collection for this post and as it's nearing Christmas, a Jeanswest gift guide.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Second trimester maternity shorts and tee summer scarf outfit

Away From Blue | Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
Scarf: white Target crochet detail scarf
TeeJeanswest Sonny maternity tee in lagoon marle (C/O)
Shorts: Jeanswest Georgie maternity boyfriend shorts (new purchase, available in non-maternity also)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

When I saw this Sonny maternity tee, I was instantly drawn to the grey marle version. But I thought about it and decided to try this lagoon colour instead. I'm glad I picked it, it's such a nice colour for spring/summer and different from any of my other tees. Mostly because of the colour, but also because it has a lovely satin trim at the neckline.

These maternity shorts were another of my 40% off sale purchases too, I figured being so large over the spring and summer I'd appreciate another pair of shorts. The perfect outfit for working from home and doing the day care pick up / drop off.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarerscrochet detail scarf, studded mouse flats, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere. First time I've worn the tee and the shorts.

Other ways to wear: crochet scarf and a LBD in the office, studded mouse flats and skinny jeans, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere with a layered winter outfit.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Jeanswest New tribe Collection Maternity Singlet shorts necklace

AwayFromTheBlue | monogram initial Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers (on sale!)
Necklace: Jeanswest Taki necklace (C/O)
Tank: Jeanswest maternity tank in sea glass
ShortsJeanswest maternity rolled up shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

This lovely maternity tank in sea glass is the piece I bought before I got the email letting me know I could get it free to try. As I'd just bought a bunch of maternity tanks, instead of picking out more maternity clothes, I decided to try something different and go for the necklace. You can see a bit more of the tribal influence in the necklace. It's a lovely statement piece.

They have some gorgeous tribal prints with pops of sea glass green through the collection, if you're not needing maternity wear there are lots of great pieces to chose from. If I hadn't been so unsure about the bump squeezing into it, I would have picked up this beautiful silk printed maxi dress.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), maternity shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere(above). First time I've worn the tank and necklace as they've recently been sent to me.

Other ways to wearmaternity shorts in the third trimester, Havaianas and a maxi dress, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and skinny jeans.

A question around gift guides:
The main driver for people sharing gift guides on blogs seems to be to share affiliate links. Like others, I use affiliate links so that sometimes I earn a small commission if you purchase a product through a link I've shared. Thank you to those of you who support my blog in this way - a little extra pocket money is nice!
I've seen so many gift guides this year that I'm not sure if they are actually useful and helpful to readers or if it's just bloggers trying to maximise their earnings. I'm constantly being reminded that I should be sharing gift guides this time of year by the networks I'm part of too. I've certainly been getting the vibe I should be sharing some, so I'm giving it a go.

I figured that rather than do dedicated posts, which bore me when I see them on other blogs, I'd put gift guides in my normal posts (like I did here and with the Shopbop gift guide). That way I'm being helpful if you want it and if you're sick of all the gift guides there's still the rest of my normal post.

Please let me know what you think, I'm always open to feedback! Do you like gift guides or are you over them like I am?

Some of the items in this post were given to me to review. As always, all opinions and outfits are my own.

Back to the usual what I've been wearing. It was actually a little exciting to open up the big bag of maternity clothes I'd set aside post-baby, and rediscover pieces I'd loved in my last pregnancy. I was extremely happy to see these Asos maternity pencil skirts again, they were real workhorses before.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Second trimester workwear Asos maternity pencil skirt ruffle cami

AwayFromBlue | Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH
Scarf: Louis Vuitton "comete" bandeau scarf
Necklace: Lovisa silver love knitted heart pendant necklace
CamiJeanswest 'Maria' cami in cream
SkirtAsos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual plus House of Harlow Aztec bangles in fuschia pink and silver, white and silver, Hermes pink clic clac
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Just like last time I wore this scarf as a headband to the office, I got a bunch of compliments, which is always nice! I had a scan to check baby's progress in the early morning, and then it was Melbourne cup day so we had a bunch of events in the afternoon in the office. As I had just recently finished up the Frocktober fundraising challenge, I didn't really want to wear my usual dress option for Melbourne cup.

I figured the ruffles on this cami made it a little more dressy than a standard pencil skirt outfit, and the scarf in my hair was a nod to the headpieces worn to our themed event that afternoon.

Last worn: Louis Vuitton bandeau, ruffle cami, tartan pencil skirt, black ballet flats, Balenciaga part time bag.

Other ways to wearLouis Vuitton bandeau as a belt with a LBDruffle cami and a maix skirt, tartan pencil skirt in the third trimester, black ballet flats and skinny jeans, Balenciaga part time bag and a striped dress.

What I wore:

AwayFromBlue | 2nd trimester asos maternity pencil skirt teal henley business casual office

Away From Blue | JORD fieldcrest wood watch, Balenciaga black giant G21 hardware part time bag
NecklaceDogeared silver wishbone necklace (on sale!)
SkirtAsos maternity graphic print pencil skirt (non-maternity version here)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Back when I was still hiding the baby bump on the blog and in the office, I'd gone through my wardrobe pulling out a few possible outfit ideas. This pretty teal top was one of them, so it had been hanging at the front of the wardrobe waiting for me to wear it. I didn't get around to wearing it before starting Frocktober, so it had been sitting there unworn.

Was wondering what to wear with this pencil skirt when I saw this top and figured I'd better wear it again before the spring weather heats up too much. It was a slightly cooler day when I wore this so it worked out perfectly. I wasn't too happy with the length of this top worn like this - I usually always partially tuck it in - but I liked the combination of the teal with the black and white.

Last worn: teal henley, Asos graphic pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Balenciaga part time bag (above).

Other ways to wearteal henley and a maxi skirtgraphic pencil skirt and burgundy tee, studded mouse flats and jeans, Balenciaga part time and skinny jeans.
