Last time I shared about the latest Jeanswest collection, I mentioned that they were having a 40% off sale. They are having one again now, it's in it's final days so hurry!
On the last day of the previous sale I caved and bought some more maternity wear. I had a bit of a giggle when I got an email a couple of days letter telling me about the New Tribe collection (including one of the tops I'd just bought) and asking if I wanted any pieces to try...
If you ever wanted confirmation that I only accept items to feature on the blog that I'd pick out to buy myself, that's a pretty strong sign! I took the chance to pick out something different instead. Wanted to share a little about the new collection for this post and as it's nearing Christmas, a Jeanswest gift guide.
What I wore:
Sunnies: Rayban new Wayfarers (on sale!)
Scarf: white Target crochet detail scarfTee: Jeanswest Sonny maternity tee in lagoon marle (C/O)
Shorts: Jeanswest Georgie maternity boyfriend shorts (new purchase, available in non-maternity also)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
Why I wore it:
When I saw this Sonny maternity tee, I was instantly drawn to the grey marle version. But I thought about it and decided to try this lagoon colour instead. I'm glad I picked it, it's such a nice colour for spring/summer and different from any of my other tees. Mostly because of the colour, but also because it has a lovely satin trim at the neckline. These maternity shorts were another of my 40% off sale purchases too, I figured being so large over the spring and summer I'd appreciate another pair of shorts. The perfect outfit for working from home and doing the day care pick up / drop off.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, crochet detail scarf, studded mouse flats, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere. First time I've worn the tee and the shorts.
Other ways to wear: crochet scarf and a LBD in the office, studded mouse flats and skinny jeans, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere with a layered winter outfit.

(prices are before the 40% off discount, so take advantage of the current sale to snap up some bargains!)
What I wore:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers (on sale!)
Necklace: Jeanswest Taki necklace (C/O)
Tank: Jeanswest maternity tank in sea glass
Shorts: Jeanswest maternity rolled up shorts
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
Why I wore it:
This lovely maternity tank in sea glass is the piece I bought before I got the email letting me know I could get it free to try. As I'd just bought a bunch of maternity tanks, instead of picking out more maternity clothes, I decided to try something different and go for the necklace. You can see a bit more of the tribal influence in the necklace. It's a lovely statement piece. They have some gorgeous tribal prints with pops of sea glass green through the collection, if you're not needing maternity wear there are lots of great pieces to chose from. If I hadn't been so unsure about the bump squeezing into it, I would have picked up this beautiful silk printed maxi dress.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), maternity shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere(above). First time I've worn the tank and necklace as they've recently been sent to me.
Other ways to wear: maternity shorts in the third trimester, Havaianas and a maxi dress, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and skinny jeans.
A question around gift guides:
The main driver for people sharing gift guides on blogs seems to be to share affiliate links. Like others, I use affiliate links so that sometimes I earn a small commission if you purchase a product through a link I've shared. Thank you to those of you who support my blog in this way - a little extra pocket money is nice!
I've seen so many gift guides this year that I'm not sure if they are actually useful and helpful to readers or if it's just bloggers trying to maximise their earnings. I'm constantly being reminded that I should be sharing gift guides this time of year by the networks I'm part of too. I've certainly been getting the vibe I should be sharing some, so I'm giving it a go.
I figured that rather than do dedicated posts, which bore me when I see them on other blogs, I'd put gift guides in my normal posts (like I did here and with the Shopbop gift guide). That way I'm being helpful if you want it and if you're sick of all the gift guides there's still the rest of my normal post.
Please let me know what you think, I'm always open to feedback! Do you like gift guides or are you over them like I am?
Some of the items in this post were given to me to review. As always, all opinions and outfits are my own.

Have the same handbag. Love it! Use it always. Why keep it. Use it!
DeleteI love that sea glass colour - I'm in the market for new shorts - I'd forgotten about Jeans West, their 40% off sales are wicked! I must check them out!
ReplyDeleteThe sales are so good for my wardrobe, not so much my bank balance ha!
DeleteHope you scored a nice pair of shorts in the sale, they've had some really cute ones in the regular line that haven't made it across to maternity sadly!
Your outfits look so comfy yet pretty! These colours really suits you and bring out your eye colour! x

You have so many good pieces from Jeanswest. I always like what you wear from there. Let me know what response you get about the gift guides. This is really the first year I did one, and I sort of feel like there are so many out there it's overwhelming. Maybe that's just because we are in the blogging world though??

Straight A Style
Very true, I think being around more blogs we probably see more than a normal person would. It's been interesting reading the responses though :) No really strong feelings either way.
DeleteThese were great buys for sure. Plus it looks amazing on you :) This color really suits you very well!
ReplyDeleteARedLip&Love
I am not sure whether we have Jeanswest in the US( at least they are new to me) however I love all your picks from them especially the scarves!! Gift guides seem to always elicit mixed feelings. Although I did a couple dedicated guides I also try to mix them a bit with my regular outfit posts. Some love them some don't mind I guess. Curious to see what you'll hear from your readers. Happy weekend dear. xoxo, Elif
ReplyDeletehttp://theboxqueen.com
I think they are just in Asia/Australia. They do ship overseas though! :)
DeleteI think mixing in gift guides with normal posts is best as the people who want them can read them and others can skip them :)
I'm a sucker for a good dressy scarf :) You're looking fantastic! They have great maternity wear at Jeans West!
ReplyDeleteThey do! I'm glad I went there first with my last pregnancy, everything's been perfect so far!
DeleteI enjoy the gift guides if I feel they are genuine. Some blogs are just collections of gift guides with no other text/picture, I think that is getting a little out of hand. But embedded in a post, I really enjoy them.

Yes I know what you mean! That, to me, can get pretty boring :(
DeleteReally cute look and nice blog. :)

It's been a while since it's been shorts weather definitely! I'm glad summer is here again :)
DeleteGreat look, it looks nice and warm where you are :) it is so cold here :(
ReplyDeleteSummer here in Brisbane! :D
DeleteI love those green tops on you! Such a pretty mint tee. As for gift guides, I tend to find the gifts they choose to be a bit outrageous or too expensive. Most bloggers pick really girly things and I only have two "girly" people to shop for so it doesn't help! I'm done with my shopping so I'll probably skip out on those posts and come by just to see what's new with you :)
ReplyDeleteOh I'm jealous you've got your shopping finished! I'm still struggling with the usual suspects on my list, hunting for the perfect gift!
DeleteI enjoy your gift guides... keep them coming! Love your maternity pics... you look comfy amd stylish xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Shannon :)
DeleteYou look amazing !!! You're very beautiful and this color makes you look better! Love your style and this post! xx

Gorgeous colours! I love the colour sea glass!

Mica your bags! Another cute one! Every time I visit your blog you've got a post with a really stunning bag. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI think gift guides are a bit redundant at times. I only really look at ones from bloggers whose style I admire, whose opinion I trust, or who has put a noticeable amount of time and effort into curating their guide. A lot of the times I think people kind of half-way do their gift guides and they end up being a bunch of random tidbits, you know? If you did a gift guide for women I'd like that, especially if it had a few bags on it! :)

haha I do like my bags! :P
DeleteI could do a bag gift guide but it would be so big...there's always another bag I'd want, ha!
That backpack is under 50. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI want one.
Looking great babe :)

Yep such a bargain price for such a practical piece! :) Jeanswest ship internationally too ;)
Deleteha ha ha, that last option in your poll is quite funny:) I really don't mind affiliate links, I don' t seen anything wrong with using them. If somebody takes the time to make shopping lists, I think we should be grateful because it saves us time.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in both outfits. I love both types of shorts! Great summer outfits:)
http://modaodaradosti.blogspot.ba/
hehe glad it amused you! I wish I could figure out why it stopped working :(
DeleteI don't have a problem with affiliate links (and use them myself!) I just think sometimes gift guides are ways to do nothing but share links, which isn't very interesting.
What a cute top!

love the hat and scarves you picked. That bag goes perfect with the outfit! beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful! Love your bag ♥

I think if you want to do gift guides you should, but if you don't then don't! It's up to you what you want to blog about and what works on one blog doesn't always work on another!
ReplyDeleteI like to see gift guides from people I've followed a long time as I hold their opinion higher than bloggers I don't really know.
Corinne x
www.skinnedcartree.com
Very true Corinne! We should blog about what makes us happy :)
DeleteAnd I agree, if there's a blogger I've followed for a while I'm much more likely to have similar tastes and so buy things from their links/recommendations.
Love your purse a lot! Great style!

Mermaid in Heels
I'm with you - I try to only accept items I am genuinely interested in trying, even better when they turn out to be a huge win.
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Yes it's nice to try new things, but I think if you're getting them free best to pick companies and products you know you'd use day to day and spend your own money on :)
DeleteI don't mind a gift guide post (I am planning one for this week, AWKS, haha) . . . the only issue is that if you read a lot of blogs, you see LOTS of them! You just never know though, you might see the perfect piece for someone who is hard to buy for!
ReplyDeletehaha yes there are SO MANY gift guides, I think that's what's getting to me.
DeleteI can guarantee your post would be good to read too, and not just a dump of 50 or 60 links begging for clicks :)
Thank you all for your kind comments - and thoughts about gift guides! It was interesting reading some other perspectives! :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you embedded a gift guide within your regular outfit post, I think that's a good idea! I think the gift guides can get a little out of control, which is why I don't do very many. And I love the aqua/seafoam colors on you!
ReplyDeleteYep, less is certainly more with gift guides! :)
DeleteThere are some great stocking fillers in your picks - definitely will have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteBtw - you always have the amazing handhandbag collection
First off, you totally pull off this shade of blue? Sea glass? Whatever it's called. haha. It's lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I totally have the boring feels when it comes to reading people's "gift guide" posts. I'm honestly not sure one has ever been beneficial to me. Mostly because I write down what comes out of people's mouths all year long. So come Christmas shopping time, I look at my list and wah-lah Uncle Bill is getting this game he said he wanted back in July. (; I do however, like the way you set your gift guide up. I think if you're going to share something, show us what you own from your guide and why you like it. You know? Less is always more!
Thanks Kiki! I know exactly what you mean with gift guides! I haven't been quite so proactive through the year, but I'm not always finding gift guides useful. i think slipping them into a normal post is best, rather than a dedicated post!
DeleteLovely shades of sea green in both tops and lovely to see the burgeoning bump - looking good!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I too get bored of gift guide posts as they rarely relate to anything I would really buy. Trouble is they are everywhere at this time of year.
http://petitesilvervixen.blogspot.co.uk/
Yes I'm certainly finding that too, gift guides are everywhere!
DeleteThat color green looks great on you Mica! Matches very well with denim.
