Spring Camis and Maxi Skirt Outfits

With the warmer weather, I've been enjoying wearing my cami tops again. I always say to myself I'll wear them over winter all layered up, but I never do, they seem to be kept for warm days.

Here's what I wore to go shopping with my mum:
Boho outfit printed cami long necklace colour block maxi skirt chloe marcie bag
NecklaceRoie Designs long freshwater pearl necklace with tassel
Top: Jeanswest Audrey tonal print tank
SkirtAsos colour block maxi skirt in red (on sale!)
Shoes: Wittner 'Columbia' cross strap sandals in tan
BagChloe Marcie medium hobo bag in Nut

Another super hot day when I wore this - just like the day before! Baby T and I headed out with my mum to the local Westfield to keep cool in their air conditioning and to try get more Christmas shopping done. Had a productive trip! Mum got lots of things that she needed, and she treated baby T and I to a few things too. As we had the stroller, I took the chance to use a handbag as well as the baby bag. The baby bag rests on the stroller leaving my arms free for my own bag if I choose.

It's been over a year since I last wore this printed top. To be honest, I don't always like the way it sits as it's really long on me, so it doesn't get worn often. But I really liked wearing it tucked into the maxi skirt, so it's staying in my wardrobe for the time being.

I posted an instagram pic of this outfit - and it's my first instagram with the new "Like to Know It" service! If you sign up for Like to Know It, and you like any of my instagrams with the #liketkit hashtag, you'll get an email with all of the details of the products I've showcased. Thought I'd give it a try, let me know if you find it useful.

Last worn: printed cami, colour block maxi skirt, Wittner sandals, Chloe Marcie hobo bag.

Here's what I wore to have some visitors over:
Floral printed ruffle cami top grey marle target jersey maxi skirt outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Cami: Jeanswest 'Amber' floral print ruffle cami
SkirtTarget grey marle maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

Still a really hot day! I'd actually picked this outfit out the day before, just like I used to do. This floral top I thought would pair nicely with the colour blocked maxi I wore previously, but I didn't like the combination when I put it together, so I ended up wearing the other printed top above. I tried the floral cami on with the grey maxi skirt instead and liked it better, so set the outfit aside to wear the next day.

We were going to have a busy morning with the other mums and bubs from our mothers group, and I'd been looking forward to it. However, baby T had a pretty disturbed night (probably due to the heat!) so I decided we'd stay home instead after running a few errands. Wore what I'd planned to anyway, and I'm glad I did as we got lots of visitors later that afternoon and I felt suitably dressed. Would have been embarrassing if I'd been having a pyjama day when people started showing up ;)

While I'm on maternity leave for a little longer, it is nice to be able to continue to wear the things in my wardrobe and not just default to jeans and a tee all the time. Although there are still some days where I just want a good denim outfit, or days when I don't even manage to get dressed, most of the time I'm trying to have fun with what I own and actually wear things in my wardrobe instead of "saving" them for special occasions.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, floral cami, grey jersey maxi skirt, Havaianas.

Spring and Summer Denim Outfits: Shorts and Skinny Jeans

Two denim outfits - a Spring-y one with layers, and a summer-like one with denim shorts. The heat shot up suddenly here in Queensland, giving us a taste of the hot summer to come!

Here's what I wore to go pick up our new car:
zara tweed blazer peach cami skinny denim jeans spring layers
SunniesRayban new Wayfarers
Jacket: Zara frayed basket weave cardigan in blue
NecklaceDogeared 3 Wishes stardust bead necklace layered with vintage gold initial necklace
DressJeanswest peach ruffle cami
JeansJeanswest Super Skinny Jeans in Mid Indigo
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs pretty nylon Eliz-A-Baby bag

You might remember me on the blog a while back (while I was still pregnant!) talking about going car shopping. We eventually found the perfect car and placed an order shortly before baby T arrived. There was a mix-up at the dealership unfortunately, so there was a bit of a delay. It's been a long wait, and after lots of updates from a very apologetic sales guy, we finally have the car we wanted with all the bells and whistles and safety things for baby! So exciting! My favourite part is that it has little air conditioning vents in the back - perfect for keeping baby and Cooper cool on a hot day.

Wanted to look a little dressed up for going to the dealership so added the tweed cardi over the top of the casual jeans and cami outfit. I wore the outfit without the jacket when I went out that morning with baby, but we picked the car up in the evening when a light jacket was helpful.

This cami top is one I got from my sister as part of her wardrobe clear out. Such a great piece, I'm glad she didn't want it any more.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, Zara cardi, skinny jeans, Havaianas, Marc By Marc Jacobs baby bag. First time I've worn the top.

Here's what I wore to try to avoid melting:
Stripe tank denim shorts Havaianas summer style
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Singlet: Cotton On stripe sailor tank in dusky green / grey marle
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
ShoesHavaianas tropical print thongs

Such a hot day when I wore this! Defintely no need for an extra layer. I honestly felt like I was melting, and baby T had a hard time coping! Out of nowhere the Spring weather took a turn and treated us to a little bit of summer heat. Was quite a shock to the system for me, and a bit of an upset for baby T, poor little man has never felt such heat in his life. I had to venture outside to the post office, so wanted to wear as few clothes as possible to do so, yet still look decent. A light-weight tank and denim shorts was good to try keep cool, and for lounging around at home afterwards trying to cool down again. It was not as cool in the morning as I hoped it would be, but at least we were back home before the real heat of the day. I wasn't up for standing out in the sun again just for a picture, so stayed inside the house to take this, haha!

I've only worn this tank once before, over a year ago. I do recall trying to wear it in pregnancy, but the baby bump had outgrown it when I tried. I don't really wear green a lot in my wardrobe, which might be another reason it hasn't been worn much. I did enjoy wearing it this time though, so it's staying in my wardrobe for now, and I'll make more of an effort to wear it over the warmer months to justify keeping it. I have quite a few pieces like this in my wardrobe - great sale bargains I just had to have...which don't end up getting worn much at all. I need to keep this in mind when I shop the sales racks in future!

Last worn: Wayfarers (see above), stripe tank, denim shorts, Havaianas.

Grey Tee, Denim Shorts, Acne Pistol Boots | Teal Henley, Striped Skirt, Patent Mouse Flats

Two more outfits created using items from the "wear after baby arrives" box I added to as I outgrew clothes in my wardrobe after pregnancy.

Here's what I wore to spend the day with DH and baby T:
Acne Pistol boots, grey tee and denim shorts
SunniesRayban new Wayfarers
TeeAtmos&Here grey Arizona zip tee (on sale!)
Shorts: Jeanswest denim cuff shorts
Shoes: Acne pistol boots in "skin"

With the spring weather heating up, I wanted to quickly take advantage of the chance to wear shorts and boots together! I really like the combination of shorts and ankle boots, but it's not something you can wear year-round. I actually think I missed my chance, I was getting a little warm with the long sleeved tee in the heat of the day. Maybe with a tank next time.

After I had worn this, I stumbled across Alice from Happiness at Mid-Life wearing a similar designed top, but layering a bright tank underneath and having the zips undone to show the colourful tank peeking through. Such a great way to wear a zip-detail top! Definitely want to give it a go with this tee as soon as we have a cooler day.

Last worn: grey zip detail tee, denim shorts, Acne Pistol boots.

Here's what I wore to go out for lunch:
Jeanswest teal henley shirt french connection striped gathered pencil skirt
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklacecustom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
Shirt:  Jeanswest 'Aubrey' pintuck yoke henley in deep teal (on sale!)
SkirtFrench Connection 'Abby' twisted skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats in black patent leather

I bought this skirt back in the second trimester when I felt I was running out of nice pencil skirts to wear to the office. Most of my pencil skirts are fixed waist, only a few were elasticated, so this elasticated waist skirt seemed like a great idea. Despite only managing to wear it a few times before the baby bump got too big, I also reasoned I could get my money's worth by wearing it casually as well after baby arrived. I felt rather over-dressed in this outfit though, felt much too similar to something I'd wear to the office. It's almost an identical outfit to the previous time I wore it to work, just with a different coloured top. Same shoes and everything! I didn't realise that when I wore it, just when I looked up the last wearing of the skirt.

While it was great to get this skirt out again and wear it without a baby bump, I think I'll need to try harder next time I wear it to dress it down and make the look a little less office-like. I have such a hard time wearing pencil skirts outside of work, as I wear them so casually in the office anyway! Do you have any ideas for how to make it more casual? A tank or denim jacket was suggested last time, maybe I should try that next time.

Last worn: teal henley, striped skirt, patent mouse flats.
