Colourful Tees, Dark Denim Jeans, Cover Ups and Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran Bag

Taking my Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag out again for a spin, with colourful tees and dark skinny jeans with statement cover ups on top for a little extra warmth. I really love this bag, but as it's so large and I don't always carry a lot, I don't use it as often as I should.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted purple and red Paisley print duster
Necklace: silver twisted chain necklace
Tee: thrifted Target crew neck tee coral red
JeansNobody Denim Cult high rise skinny ankle jeans in charred grey
Shoes: thrifted Seed Heritage tan braided sandals
Bracelets: the usual
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

I thought this pale coral tee would be a great piece to wear under this purple and red Paisley print cover up, to bring out the red in the print a little more. I think it worked well!

With the crew neckline though I definitely need to add a necklace for a little extra interest and so I went with this statement silver one that hadn't been worn in a while. Originally I was planning to wear a bag with silver hardware with this, but when I opened up my handbag wardrobe I saw this Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag and realised it had been too long between wears. I figured the gold hardware on the bag and the silver necklace were far enough apart that they would work well together.

I had a busy day, with some appointments and errands to run as well as attending my son's performances at school in the afternoon, and then sports in the evening, so I'd taken the day off to try fit it all in. It meant that as well as my usual essentials in my bag, I had a water bottle, my camera for the show, and a book for reading while waiting at the appointment. This bag carries it all so well!

Last worn: Paisley print cover up, silver twist necklace, pale coral tee, Nobody Denim jeans, Marc by Marc Jacobs carob brown Fran bag. First time I've worn the sandals as they are a recent opshop find.

Jeans: thrifted Cotton On The High Rise Skinny Jean black coated denim
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

A slightly less busy day on this day, but again I stuck with the colourful tee, dark skinny jeans and pretty cover up outfit formula as before. I had the school run, working from home, and a couple of appointments in the afternoon for both the kids and I, so again I wore my Marc by Marc Jacobs carob brown Fran bag. I needed to bring a book for all the waiting around at the appointments!

My sister got me this beautiful pink lace duster for Christmas and I always admire it hanging in my wardrobe but feel it has to be a special occasion to wear it. Wearing it on a regular working from home and school run day was a good way to break myself of that habit and give this pretty piece more chances to be worn, I really enjoyed wearing it!

Last worn: pink lace duster, lilac tee, blush beaded necklace, coated black skinny jeans, black Converse, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag (above).

Colourful Tees With Black Knits and Skinny Jeans

Two black jeans, black Converse and black knit outfits for the school run and working from home. Both of these outfits feature a pop of colour from my tees, against all of the black.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted Dotti black cocoon cape cardigan
Necklace: thrifted bronze foil statement necklace
TeeKmart basic purple tee
JeansSass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bagthrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

The first time I wore this purple tee I paired it with a lot of black, and really liked the resulting outfit, so I tried it again and also loved this outfit too! This time I went with a plain black knit, this cosy cocoon cardigan, and my Sass and Bide Playman printed skinny jeans to add a little more interest to my outfit.

Everything else was really muted and dark and neutral and I think it made the purple tee pop even more! It was a warmer day so I was able to skip the scarf too, and wear this bronze foil necklace I thrifted recently, it's nice with the purple. It actually ended up being such a warm day I was able to go without the cardigan later in the afternoon, after working from home and when running a couple of errands before school pick up.

Last worn: black cocoon cardigan, purple tee, Sass and Bide playman printed jeans, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag. First time I've worn the necklace as it was a recent opshop find.

TeeCotton On deep v tee in washed desert rose
Jeans: Jeanswest black skinny jeans with zipper detail
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC redyed with Angelus hot pink leather paint

Why I wore it:

This was a cooler day than the one above so I was glad I'd chosen to wear this cosy knitted poncho. It keeps me so warm in winter! Just like in the outfit above, I went with a colourful tee and a lot of black. The knit added some extra print and interest, and I really like this knit with pink tees, it's not the first time I've worn this combination. Again I wore my black Converse and black skinny jeans, but I felt this outfit needed a little extra colour so I added the pink Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC I recently redyed.

Just like the first outfit, I was able to go without a scarf and picked one of my recently thrifted necklaces to wear. I liked the neutral beads with the pink and black outfit.

This was nice and comfortable for working from home and then the school run in the afternoon.

Last worn: knitted poncho, pale pink tee, zip detail jeans, black Converse (above), Rebecca Minkoff redyed mini MAC bag. First time I've worn the necklace as it was a recent opshop find.

Coated Skinny Jeans, Converse and Winter Knits

I picked up these coated denim jeans at the opshop last month to give them a try. And despite worrying at first they looked too much like leggings, I've realised how fun they war to wear! Not sure how they will go in the warmer weather, but for cold winter days they have kept me nice and warm, especially paired with cosy knits like in these outfits.

What I wore:

ScarfAlexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarf
Jumper: thrifted Forever 21 wine ribbed knit jumper
Jeans: thrifted Cotton On The High Rise Skinny Jean black coated denim
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Mica Bag - Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB side zip tote in pale lilac hand painted by Sheila

Why I wore it:

The first time I wore these jeans I worried they looked too like leggings so I paired them with a long tunic tee. This time around I wore this cosy knit to keep me warm, and tucked it in to the waist to show off the jean zipper details and pockets a little better. I really liked the rich wine colour of the knit with the neutral taupe skull scarf too, and with the black coated jeans and black Converse I felt like adding a little extra colour with this fun hand painted bag.

I really liked this outfit - with the ribbed texture of the knit and the coated denim textures together it looked lovely. Perfect for the school run, a quick visit to a friend, and then working from home before school pick up in the afternoon.

Last worn: wine jumper, taupe skull scarf, coated denim jeans, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff hand painted mini MAB tote bag.

BagMIMCO Mim-Mazing crossbody bag in black and light gold

Why I wore it:

It was the perfect weather for this cosy knitted poncho on this day! I again wore my coated denim jeans, just like in the first outfit, I like the coated denim and the added texture of a chunky knit on top. With the black and white knit and the black jeans and again the black Converse, then the black Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag though, this outfit definitely need a little extra colour! It was the perfect excuse to wear the purple tee mum bought for me on our last shopping trip. I love the colour, it is a really rich purple that pops against all of the black.

Really liked wrapping myself up in this cosy knit for the school run, working from home, and then an appointment for my son in the afternoon.

30 Ways To Wear: Atmos&Here Slouchy Wine Purple V-Neck Tee

Continuing on with trying to make my #30wears posts a regular monthly feature this year. This month, I'm showing 30 different ways I've worn this beautiful deep purple wine v-neck tee from Atmos&Here.

30 Ways To Wear: Wine Purple V-Neck Tee

30 ways to wear atmos and here rolled sleeve slouchy deep purple wine tee awayfromtheblue

Cost Per Wear

I bought this tee back in October 2013, on sale for just $14.47, as I had an extra discount code. It's not the only slouchy soft rolled sleeve v-neck tee I have bought from Atmos&Here. I used to have a grey, black, and a striped one. This one, however, is the only one that I've manged to hit 30 wears with.

The super soft modal also has spandex in it which means that over the years, its stopped being so stretchy and more baggy as the spandex has worn away. Luckily this one seemed to hold its shape better than the others and I hit 31 wears with it, but it's been a lesson for me that if I want my clothes to last, pay attention to the fabric composition. I have a lot more cotton tees in my wardrobe now! Even if the extra stetch in this tee was helpful to see me through 2 pregnancies and very helpful in the breastfeeding days, I prefer just plain cotton tees now.

At 31 wears, it's now definitely too worn and stretched out to continue wearing, but still super soft, so will be a good pyjama top! It has had a low 47 cents cost per wear, and it's taught me a valuable lesson on paying attention to the fabric content of the things I buy, even if it's not something I'll be able to get a lot more wear from in future.

I don't have a lot of this deep wine-purple coloured burgundy in my wardrobe, so it's been interesting looking back to see how I have worn this. I like it a lot with black and other darker colours, but it has been worn with some brighter pairings too. Here are 30 different ways I've worn it over the 10 years it's been in my wardrobe.

Wine V-Neck Tee With Denim

5 ways to wear wine purple tee with denim awayfromtheblue

I don't think there can be a more classic combo than a v-neck tee and denim! Sometimes I'll pair this tee with jeans, or shorts, even denim skirts. With the plain block colour, printed jeans work too. As do sequins, wearing my awesome Haus of Queenie custom kimono in the middle there.

Deep Purple Tee With Floral Prints

4 floral outfit ideas with deep purple wine tee awayfromblue

I like throwing a cover up or duster on top of a denim and tee outfit, as I have here in these 4 outfits. A floral cover up is a great way to add more colour and print to a plain tee like this wine one.

Wine V-Neck Tee With Stripes

deep purple atmos here tee with stripes awayfromblue

As I've shown above I'm partial to florals, but stripes and even other prints like leopard work well against the plain dark background of this tee too!

Deep Purple Tee With Skirts

5 ways to wear wine purple tee with skirts awayfromblue

You saw the denim skirt with this wine tee above but it works with all other kinds of skirts, like a maxi skirt or with a pencil skirt for the office. I loved that it still fit over the bump with my maternity pencil skirt at the bottom there!

Wine Tee With Blue

wine tee with blue 3 outfits awayfromtheblue

Blue is my favourite colour and I'll wear it with everything. While this dark tee is a bit more burgundy than plain purple, living up to the 'wine' colour label well, I do still like wearing it with shades of blue just as I would with a purely purple tee. Different shades of blue in a scarf work well, and even a brighter turquoise like you can see in the middle of these outfits is good with the tee.

Deep Purple Tee With Grey

3 grey and wine skirt and tee outfit ideas awayfromtheblue

Of course if you're not sure what colour to wear with something, neutrals always work! This tee works well with grey skirts. I really like it with the grey skirt in the first and last outfits, so good I wore it twice! And it was nice to knot it over the grey tie-dye maxi dress in the middle there for something a little different.

Wine Tee With Other Shades Of Red

4 outfit ideas deep burgundy tee with other shades of red awayfromblue

I have tried now and then to be a little more adventurous with this tee. Pairing it with much brighter shades of red, and other lighter shades of burgundy. I've really liked the combination, done on a small scale with a little crossbody bag, or on a larger scale with a printed cover up or that striped maxi skirt in the third outfit.

Deep Purple Tee With Brights

wearing wine purple tee with orange and yellow awayfromtheblue

One unexpected combination I really ended up liking with this tee was adding a brighter piece against the deep wine purple shade. I really liked the wine with the rust orange skirts, and the little yellow bag and yellow print on the shorts in the second outfit there. It was a good way to lighten up this tee and I'm glad I gave the orange and burgundy colour scheme a try!

Chloe Small Paraty, Denim, And Statement Cover Ups

Adding a little extra interest to a plain tee and denim outfit in both of these outfits with statement cover ups. A fun sequin piece and a long flowing duster help to make these outfits stand out a little more.

TeeAtmos&Here rolled sleeve oversized tee in wine
Skirt: JayJays distressed denim mini skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe small Paraty bag in wine purple

Why I wore it:

This was such a fun day! Had a bit of a trim for my hair. It's really not growing as fast as I'd like (I'm trying to donate it again) so I thought a little trim would speed up the process! Spent some time shopping afterwards, as well as all going out for lunch. I didn't buy anything for myself but we did have fun buying some birthday presents for the kids and taking advantage of some of the sales to do so!

This sequin kimono is so beautiful and statement-making, one of the sales assistants in the shops said I was "very Harry Styles", haha! I love seeing people's reactions when I wear this, even on just a standard day out shopping with the family. It always makes people smile, I love wearing it! As I said to my sister, it is definitely designed for dancing the night away, but it also just brings me so much joy wearing it with everyday outfits.

Without it this deep purple tee and distressed denim skirt was a bit plain, I really liked how it elevated the outfit a bit. And I loved how similar this purple Chloe Paraty bag is with the deep purple of the tee, they are the perfect pairing.

Last worn: sequin kimono, earringscoin necklace, stone pendant necklace, purple tee, distressed denim skirt, Havaianas, Chloe purple small Paraty bag.

Other ways to wearsequin kimono worn 2 ways, purple tee and maxi skirt, distressed denim skirt and leopard print, Chloe purple small Paraty bag and floral dress.

Why I wore it:

With the blue tee, blue necklace, distressed denim shorts, periwinkle Paraty, and navy Havaianas, this was a very monochromatic blue outfit! This statement duster was a nice way to add a little more colour to my outfit. I really like blue and green together!

Just like this outfit above, adding the extra duster layer on top helped me feel more pulled together. It was a quiet day, just having a playdate with one of my son's friends.

Jeans and Tee Outfits With Printed Kimonos and Chloe Marcie Bag | Weekday Wear Link Up

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, sharing more autumn outfits with skinny jeans, sneakers, colourful tees, kimonos and my Chloe Marcie hobo bag. I love autumn days where a light layer like a kimono is all you need with a pair of jeans to keep warm.

What I wore:

JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

This was a busy, but fun day! Had the usual school run, helping in my son's classroom, some time working from home before school pickup in the afternoon, and then shopping with my sister after I picked the kids up. We both only needed to grab a couple of things, but since she was near the bayside area she called and we decided to do our shopping together, and then have dinner. Was a very productive day.

With the deep purple tee and black Nobody Denim skinny jeans and black Converse, this was looking like a very dark outfit! I thought that the Chloe Marcie lightened it up a little, as did the gold necklace which was a nice bit of matchy-matchy with the hardware on the bag, even if it's slightly different shades of gold. I added the kimono to brighten the outfit up even more, although the purple tones in the tee and print are very different I thought they worked nicely together. Even if it was a little bit warm in the middle of the day, I was thankful for the kimono when things cooled off in the afternoon.

Last worn: purple printed kimono, slouchy tee, gold circle necklace, black Nobody Denim jeans, Converse, Chloe Marcie bag.

Chloe Handbag Collection: Past and Present

What I wore:

skinny jeans, Adidas superstar, tropical floral print duster, red tee, Chloe marcie bag | awayfromtheblue

tropical floral print duster pearl bracelet stack, Chloe Marcie shoulder bag | awayfromblue

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
NecklaceRoie Designs long freshwater pearl necklace with tassel
Tee: Jeanswest Emma woven trim tee in terracotta
Jeans: thrifted Jeanswest faded black cropped butt lifter jeans
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus faux pearl bracelet stack
BagChloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

Another working from home day while the kids were at school, and a very chilly start to the morning! I did wonder if this kimono was going to be warm enough, but thankfully the day heated up a little. Another pair of black skinny jeans as well - these were just $1 and in my size at the opshop so I couldn't say no! Good denim is hard to find, especially when you're petite like me so I was thrilled with these!

Added the bright red tee - very bold and colourful with the black - not just because it matched the red flowers in the floral print of the duster, but because it would help ensure my son saw me at school. He was getting given an award and I wanted to show up at the ceremony and surprise him. He definitely had no problems noticing me!

Ended up taking this bracelet stack off when making a lot of noise at my desk trying to type up meeting notes! But I did like how the faux pearls matched the freshwater pearls on my tassel necklace nicely, even if they weren't the most practical choice for a day at my desk with lots of note taking!

Last worn: tropical floral duster, red tee, pearl and tassel necklace, bracelet stackAdidas Superstar sneakers, Chloe Marcie bag (above). First time I've worn these jeans as they were a summer thrift find.

How You Can Wear It:

Colourful printed kimonos are a great layer to add before the temperatures get too cold! They provide a lot of extra print and colour to a classic jeans and tee outfit.

30 Ways To Wear: Lilac V-Neck Tee

For this month's 30 ways to wear post, it's another purple piece! And one I've been wearing on frequent repeat lately, this lilac v-neck tee. It's been a really versatile piece to have in my wardrobe but it wasn't worn all that frequently when I first bought it.

30 Ways to Wear: Lilac V-Neck Tee

30 ways to wear a lilac v neck tee purple outfit ideas | awayfromblue blog

I purchased this tee back in July 2013, so hitting 31 documented wears in April 2022 is not a sign of a piece that's been a frequently worn staple since I got it 9 years ago! I have been wearing it a lot more frequently these past few years, as I've switched from mostly wearing printed tops to more basic block colour tops and adding prints to my outfit with kimonos or scarves (depending on the weather) instead. So even though it took 9 years to reach more than 30 wears with this tee, it is one I have been wearing so frequently lately and I think it has definitely proved its worth in my wardrobe.

Cost Per Wear

I bought this tee at The Iconic, from a label called Spectrum that is no longer available. One of the other tees I hit 30 wears with is from the same brand, just in grey. Such good quality I'm sad the Iconic no longer sells them! It was on sale and I had a discount code, so it was just $11.95. At 31 wears, that's 38 cents a wear, definitely good value!

I have worn this tee a lot more than 31 times - I did consider removing it from my wardrobe for a bit as I was wearing it so little, so wore it as loungewear around the house quite a few times. Of course I quickly realised it definitely deserved a place in my permanent wardrobe, and worked it back into my "leaving the house" outfits and so back into being documented on the blog. It's holding up really well and I'm pleased with this purchase. Here are my 30 favourite ways I've worn it:

Lilac Tee and Neutrals In An Outfit

4 easy ways to wear a lilac tee with neutrals awayfromblue

This has to be the easiest way to wear any brightly coloured tee - not just this lilac one! Wear it with neutrals. Try greys, blacks, even browns, and let the purple tee be the main statement piece in your outfit.

Lilac Tee and Kimono Outfit Ideas

5 kimono outfit ideas with a lilac vneck tee shirt awayfromblue

I do love throwing a kimono over a tee and denim outfit, as you can see in these 5 outfits! With this lilac tee it's nice to be a little matchy-matchy and wear a kimono that has a bit of purple in it - that dark floral print kimono is a pairing I love with this tee.

Pink and Purple Outfits With A Lilac Tee

pink and purple outfit ideas with lilac tee worn 4 ways awayfromtheblue

I really like pink and purple together! And as you can see in each of these 4 outfits, any shade of pink, from a pastel blush bag or neon pink scarf or pink bag or shorts, all work well with the lilac tee.

Pink, Blue and Purple Outfits Featuring a Lilac Tee

pink purple and blue outfits with lilac tee awayfromblue

As well as loving pink and purple together like in the previous set of outfits, I like to extend that duo out into a try by wearing pink, purple, and blue together! It's a combination of colours I'll never get bored with. As you can see in these 4 outfits any shades of blue or pink can be combined with the lilac. There are so many possibilities with this trio of colours.

Lilac Tee In Office Outfits

3 ways to wear a lilac tee in the office with pencil skirts awayfromtheblue

With a business casual office environment, a colourful basic tee is a nice choice with a pencil skirt for a day without a lot of meetings. For something a little more dressed up, you can always throw a blazer on top like I have in that last outfit.

Lilac Tee and Jeans Outfit Ideas

4 simple outfit ideas lilac tee and jeans awayfromblue

Another fail-safe outfit: jeans and a tee! For something a little different, you can see in 3 of these 4 outfits I've paired the lilac tee with printed jeans. It's a nice way to add more interest into a staple everyday combination.

Maxi Skirts and Dresses With Lilac Tee

6 outfit ideas of a lilac vneck tee with maxi skirts and dresses awayfromtheblue

Maxi skirts and dresses are something I often reach for, perfect for mum life! As you can see in these 6 outfits, the block colour lilac tee works equally well with a printed maxi skirt as it does with a basic neutral colour one, and even layers well over a maxi dress like in that fourth outfit.
