Here's what I wore to go to an orientation day with baby T:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Shirt: Choies chiffon fret print shirt (C/O Choies)
Shorts: Jeanswest denim cuff shorts
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
It's the first and last time you'll see this shirt! I ordered it from Choies, along with my strawberry print shirt, a few weeks back. Out of the two shirts, I liked this one the most. It was the same bargain price, I just prefer the blue print over the pink print. However, I can't give this shirt the good review I gave the strawberry one last time I wore it. When I took this off at the end of the day, it had torn really badly under one of the arms. It can't be repaired, so I've had to throw out the top. I'm not too upset as I didn't pay anything for the shirt, but if I had paid for it I would have been really annoyed. The benefit of buying from Australian brands is that you have some support if something goes wrong. You don't really get that when ordering from overseas companies.
I wore this outfit for baby T's first orientation day at day care. I'm not sure if all childcare centres do this, but it basically meant I could go hang out at the centre for a day with baby T and see how they run things, while letting him get used to the place and people. It will make the transition easier for him when I go back to work.
I had no idea what to wear! I went with the shirt as the long sleeves would keep me warm if the aircon was cranked up, and button down shirts are a really easy option for life with baby when trying to look a little more dressed up. Shorts because it was still a really hot summer day, and Converse as I wanted closed in comfortable shoes. I'm not sure the look of the shirt works with the casual shorts and Chucks, but I was in a hurry and the outfit had seemed good in my head when I planned it, so I wore it out anyway.
I would have liked to have tried to wear the shirt again and worn it a different way, shame it tore so easily. I hope it hadn't been like that all day! I didn't notice until I took it off at night. No one said anything so I'm thinking it might have torn on the way home when I put the baby bag over my shoulder, and hopefully not from all the picking up and putting down of baby T I was doing during the day at day care.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wafarer, denim shorts, Converse all star, Balenciaga tempete Day. First and last wearing of the shirt.
Here's what I wore to spend the afternoon with my mother in law:
Tee: Atmos&Here oversized stripe tee
Shorts: Jeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts (on sale!)
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Another casual and comfortable shorts outfit! I picked these shorts to wear as I bought them in November thinking they'd get a lot of wear over summer...and I've only worn them 4 times so far. Autumn is creeping up already! It's crazy how fast time flies. It won't be long before I'm back at work.
Thought I would try a bit of print mixing again with these shorts, with this striped tee. It was a really humid and sticky day despite the rain, so I wanted to keep the outfit simple. Not entirely convinced the baggy tee and voluminous shorts work together. I love both pieces on their own, but together, not so much. Was comfortable for spending the day with baby T and my mother in law though.
Last worn: stripe tee, printed shorts, Havaianas, Balenciaga Day bag (above).

Those shorts are awesome! Sorry to hear about your shirt. I hope the orientation day helped you lots and lots!
ReplyDeleteI have total bag envy too!
Yes, it's a shame about the shirt :( The orientation day was so helpful though! :)
DeleteOh and blue is my favourite colour too!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute looks! Stopping by via What I Wore x
ReplyDeleteI love blue as well. Your printed blouse and handbag are gorgeous, but it's too bad about the shirt tear though. Wishing you a lovely rest of the week Mica. xx

I am intrigued by the idea of an orientation day at Day Care and you get to spend the full day there... I think it is a really good idea to help mums feel more comfortable and confident leaving the babies when returning to work.
ReplyDeleteWhen my little one first starts, he only went in for an hour every other day as settling in sessions for the first a week or two. And I never get to spend any time in the room longer than 5 mins.... So a day with the baby at Day Care just sounds fab! I wish there is something like that for us.
I think we got a wonderful centre, they were so helpful and kind. The orientation day really helped baby T on his first day - he wasn't scared by it all being new as he was so used to it. They let me call as many times as I want through the day for updates too, I'm really pleased we found such a great place!
DeleteLove both looks, the first one looks more laid back, simple but cute and the second one is so nice I really love the shorts :)

Yes, such a shame it didn't even survive one wear! :(
DeleteI reallh like the sheer printed shirt pairing with the denim shorts look! My family says there may be a typhoons coming in later this week so I am hoping you can stay indoor and be safe! Weather is getting so unpredictable these days!
ReplyDeleteWe are safe down here in Brisbane! Hope your family was safe too! So pleased to hear no deaths from it, everyone was well prepared!
DeleteLove your outfit - very casual yet so chic. And blue really suits you! What a shame you had to throw it away!
ReplyDeleteLove the shorts and top together! From the Trendy Wednesday Blog Link Up @ http://www.classyyettrendy.com

Classy Yet Trendy
That sucks about the Choies quality in that shirt.
ReplyDeleteI had a bad experience with an overseas company too, nothing fit! I mean it was like 8 garments and I ordered XL and L and they were all almost a child's size :(
I am always so anxious about fit ordering from a new place! I'm pleased the measurements posted matched the items exactly, as like yourself I've heard of cases where it doesn't go as expected!
DeleteI love that top you paired with your shorts. I am so jealous that it is warm enough for shorts where you are. It is so cold here and we have so much snow.
ReplyDeleteSummer here in Australia! :)
DeleteI like blue outfits - there's something really summery about the color that's very appropriate for the season. The print mixing in the second outfit is done flawlessly!

What a drag about your shirt tearing! I sometimes see Australian brands when I'm thrifting - I always think of you!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Sheila! :) It's nice to know I'm a little part of your thrifting adventures!
DeleteOooh, I love that first outfit - really want to recreate it actually. Haha, that top is perfect!
ReplyDeleteGreat print mixing in the second look as well. Blue's your color!

Thank you! You would rock it! Although maybe buy a similar shirt...not this one exactly, ha!
DeleteI love soft tops and shorts pairing. Looks like we are heading towards that kind of dressing pretty soon. It is beginning to heat up here. You look good in shorts
ReplyDeleteLoving all of the blue!! That first top is so cute and that bag is gorgeous!!

Yep, time flies! :)
DeleteWhat a shame, such a cute top! Oh well, gives you an excuse to look for a "replacement." (;
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I love your Balenciaga too!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops of Sapphire
I have always wanted a Balenciaga bag! Yours is lovely and I adore your two style renderings featured here. Hugs on your day! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I'm done with all those cheap fashion overseas websites. The quality isn't there and even for freebies, half the time things don't end up fitting or not surviving the first wear. Too bad, it was a cute top!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
It is such a shame when the quality isn't there, as being overseas there isn't much you can do about it, the returns would often cost more than the item! Buying locally is a great idea!
DeleteThat's a shame about how the shirt tore! That speaks of the lack of quality! That type of material is prone to do that. LOL about wondering when the shirt tore. That happened to me and I thought the same thing. Like OMG, I hope I didn't go around all day looking like that. Baggy and baggy usually doesn't work, but your outfit looks GREAT Mica! Did you like the day care facility?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
I did really like the day care place - and so near to us! Perfect for baby T! :)
DeleteHaha hopefully you didn't walk around all day like that - but that's the thing..you just don't know how long it was unnoticed for, ha!
That bag is still a stunning addition to your outfits! Love the blue tones in both outfits!
ReplyDeletebe the plebeian
What a bummer about the top. Even if the price was dirt cheap, it should last more than one wear. This a big reason I am hesitant to buy from these website. You look great in blue!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining TBT Fashion Link up. Have a great weekend and hope to see you next week!

Yes it's such a shame as I never expected it to happen, thought shirts were a 'safe' bet, ha!
Deleteshame about the top mica. i do love those shorts - the print is great! i have a soft spot for navy and it's nice to see the tempete out - bal colour names have been so good for my french learning! lol :) are you looking forward to being back at work? x
ReplyDeletesteph / absolutely-fuzzy.com
I'm looking forward to the adult conversation I guess, hehe. But I'm full of mixed feelings about the return to work - like every mum is no doubt!
DeleteI am crying because I so want to be wearing shorts, loving the first outfit, my fav. Thanks for linking up and hope to see you this week
ReplyDeleteYes, luckily it looks like the summer heat will stick around for a little longer to ease us into autumn!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind comments! :)
