JORD Watch Giveaway! Plus Stay at Home Mum Outfits and Blogging

As well as a very special JORD watches giveaway, I'm sharing two very laid back, easy stay at home mum outfits that don't require a lot of effort. Also talking about some of my thoughts on blogging the lazy outfits and why I keep this blog going.

Here's what I wore for a lazy Sunday:
casual summer SAHM style outfit grey tee denim shorts statement necklace

Balenciaga tempete blue day bag giant silver hardware JORD wood watch
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: beaded statement necklace from local markets
TeeJeanswest rolled sleeve grey marle tee
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch C/O JORD Watches
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

I nearly didn't take a photo in this outfit. It's one of those extremely casual 'should I really blog this' type outfits. I share what I wear on the blog, but since I've gone down to 6 outfits a week I can have a day off from photos now and then. It comes in handy when I love my outfit but baby refuses to nap, or decides to alter my outfit in some way...but it also means I'm starting to question if I should blog everything I wear (which was my goal starting this blog). I wasn't going to share this at first. Later in the afternoon, when I thought about going out I realised all I needed to do to add some interest to this plain and comfy outfit was a fun statement necklace.

I've been reading a lot of bloggers questioning what they are doing lately, and it's certainly got me thinking. It might just be a little thing, just adding a necklace, but it's proof to me that I should keep going with this blog. It makes me put a little more thought and effort into what I wear. I'm always going to have a laid-back, casual every style and no extremely ground-breaking or exciting outfits, but it's nice to document those every day outfits. After all, we all get dressed every day, make the most of what's in our wardrobe, and go about our lives. While editorial shoots and never wearing something more than once is feasible and possible for others, it's not my style. I get inspiration from the simple everyday outfits I see (and read about) people wearing, and that's why I blog my day to day outfits too.

I know that being a stay at home mum has been a big change to what I wear, but before you know it I'll be back at work and back to sharing my business casual office outfits as well as those more relaxed weekend running-around-with-baby outfits. Thank you to those who are hanging around through the change. I've got a great giveaway below as a thank you!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarerswood watch, grey tee, denim shorts, Havaianas, Balenciaga Tempete Day.

Here's what I wore to go out shopping:
Casual comfy modest maxi skirt summer outfit bright tank stripes hobo bag
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
TankJeanswest 'Jenni' basic singlet in Hawaii blue
SkirtTarget black and white striped maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch C/O JORD Watches
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

This outfit is another super casual outfit, and so comfortable. I'm actually not too impressed with the photo, but loved the outfit. I actually wore this a while back when I was picking up some family from the airport, I just didn't get a chance to take pics and blog it. I enjoyed having an 'excuse' to to re-wear it!

Wore this out to spend the morning at the shops with baby T. I had planned to get my watch resized, as I mentioned in the review when I got it I was anticipating that I'd have to get the band shortened. Of course every time I walked past the watch place it was busy, and I didn't have time to hang around with baby T. Will need to go back another another day.

Last worn: blue tank, striped maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Balenciaga Day bag (above).

    1. It does make me try a little harder, and that's been a great thing for my style over the past few months, Would have been to easy to revert back to jeans and a tee everyday as a SAHM. Instead, I'm trying out new ideas and trying to wear more of my wardrobe :)

  6. Never apologize for sharing a super casual outfit. If anything it makes me like you more. You're realistic. This is how real moms and real women dress for a casual not-much-to-do weekend. I think that's the best part of your blog, how real you are with your followers. Keep that up! (:

  9. There are some days I question blogging too, but I do like how blogging makes you put a bit more effort into things. Isn't it weird that we put more effort into something that only strangers will see than what people in our real lives will? Ha.

  10. I love my Jord watch! great outfit. As for blogging, I think the best thing its to always be yourself instead of what you think people want to see. For me, I have worked in the fashion industry in styling and design for over 12 years so that will always be apart of who I am. The striped maxi looks great on you! <3 /Madison

  24. You are so right that by adding a necklace it adds a great interest to your outfit. I don't think most of the outfits out in the blog land is really ground breaking but it's nice to see how people wear similar items in your closet and get inspiration from it. I have found a schedule that works with my life and it seems to feel less pressure on my self to publish 5 days a week.

And like you said, when you share what you wear and your thoughts on it, it helps to give other people ideas, and then when they share what they wore, you could see a new way to wear something...it's good to get style inspiration from other bloggers! :)

  27. I am always under pressure when it comes to taking pictures for the blog. You see, I am like you, an SAHM and I don't overly dressed up for no particular occasion but I often feel that it would be too simple for the blog to document me with my slouchy tees and jeans paired with Birkenstock, hence my once a week outfit post, when I'd dress up for some outings or get together. I can't end up buying non-practical clothes just for the sake of blogging now, can I? I think I will just take you as an inspiration and just go with my daily look. After all as you point out, it is still dressing up, right? Great post, Mica

    ReplyDelete

    1. I think you're right! Even if it is super casual, it's still a look we wear out, so why not share? Everyone puts something on to go outside, I find it interesting to see what people wear on those laid back kinda days, maybe they have a unique spin on something that I haven't tried yet! Although yes I blog the events I do get extra dressed up for too - it's nice to have a 'reason' to dress rather than just getting dressed to wear something other than pyjamas, haha!

  30. Blogging definitely makes me put more thought into what I wear, even on days I am not taking photos because I know people know I am a blogger. I think it motivates me in a good way. I love both looks. We all have casual days but casual doesn't mean non-stylish.

  31. I know what you mean! My blog is anything but editorial and I wear the same pieces a lot. But that's what NORMAL people do. We don't have thousands of dollars to spend on new clothes for each week. So even if our blogs are just to document what we wore for ourselves it's worth it. But you definitely inspire me with your perfectly simple style and great accessories! :)

  32. Loving your bold necklaces, and your new watch looks fabulous! How fun and unique that it's made of wood!

Lately I've been super casual and kinda lazy on the blog. I feel like the combination of the winter and having a job where wearing jeans every day is a-okay, has resulted in landing me in a rut of skinny jeans, sweaters, and boots. Of course I have no intention of freezing or slipping on ice in a pair of heels, so I just need to deal with that and try to get more creative and out of this rut!

    1. I think we all get into ruts now and then! the beauty of blogging is that we can see them, and ask for ideas if we want to change things up a little, or go back through our archives...it's a fun style resource to have, a blog!

    1. Exactly :) And that's what I find most interesting - seeing how people re-wear what they own. They might have a signature style and always wear something one way, or they might try and make it a little different each time. it's fascinating to me, which is why I blog what I wear :)

  37. I love casual looks. Most of the time I dress in a casual fashion when I don't have to go to work. I think it is great to add accessories like statement necklaces or a beautiful clutch to a casual look.

  38. Very nice casual looks! Casual is basically my default setting :P Haha. I think re-wearing clothes is normal. Not everybody can afford to wear a different item each day. I also think bloggers aren't always honest and there's a big misconception out there, because I doubt people only wear it once, I think it's more accurate to say you only blog about that piece of clothing once.

    1. Good point Ellen - sometimes people don't blog everything they wear and they might re-wear something more than it seems! It's always interesting when people do blog and share each time they wear something though, there are lots of good bloggers that are very inspiring to me that do that.

  39. I had questioned why I blogged before to myself a few times, and then I realized, I am comparing my hobby to someone elses business and I am comparing my beginning to some one elses middle. Not helpful. Also I am not one to quit a full time job to blog for a living, that is just not me. so with that reality check, I was able to refocus back onto why I had started my blog to begin with, to share and inspire others who could use some help with colors and officewear outfits, and I know my friends and loyal readers appreciate that, and I am able to feel satisfied with just that. That makes me happy. An occasional reality check is very important. I am glad you know why you blog and even glad that you chose to continue doing so...

You give me ideas :) I think it's important to grow with your blog. If you're blogging about the same thing with no type of change then it's going to get boring. Many fall victim to that.
