Navy Tops, Prints and Louis Vuitton Damier Bags

I've been enjoying wearing my Louis Vuitton bags lately. Although my MM neverfull and speedy bandouliere are printed, I tend to see them as simple bags to wear and will happily wear them when I have a printed piece in my outfit.

I've learnt from experience that it's best to wear a printed bag with just one other printed piece of clothing, I like the outfits better that way. Plain navy tops seemed a good choice to wear with the prints.

What I wore:

Necklace: Nibbly Bits Wilma teething necklace in pale daffodil
TankMEV Britney bubble tank in mood indigo C/O Zibibo
Skirt: Garfunkle Australia pleated print skirt
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

Wore this on a hot day with another specialist for baby boy. The big neverfull tote was ideal for carrying around all of the paperwork required. I have the MM size and it's perfect for me!

I was attempting to organise and declutter one day when I came across this skirt that I'd put aside with all of my other officewear pieces. No point in having them out taking up space in my wardrobe while I'm on maternity leave. I realised it would be nice to wear casually on days where I didn't want shorts or a maxi skirt though, so I kept it out and boxed up the rest of my workwear.

If if you're wondering why I'm not back at work yet, while I returned to work early when toddler T was a baby, I'm not doing that this time. I'm taking the full year of maternity leave I'm entitled to with Baby Boy. Yes, Australia does have awesome maternity leave entitlements.

As it was December, the #SummerStyleFile instagram style challenge was on so this pleated skirt fit the "pleats please" challenge nicely. I really liked this outfit, I was unsure about the black printed skirt with navy top at first but it turned out looking okay and I felt really comfortable in this all day. The yellow teething necklace just ties it all together. Can't believe it's been 2 years since I last wore this skirt! It needs worn more frequently. Hopefully now I'm going 6 months without shopping and trying to achieve 30 wears on everything I'll actually wear it!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, navy breastfeeding tank, printed pleated skirt, studded sandals, Louis Vuitton neverfull.

Necklace: Ruby Olive Softies Charlotte teething necklace
Tank: Kmart navy ribbed tank
Shorts: Jeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts

Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Just under two years ago I had a wardrobe detox session with a personal stylist. I'd recently purchased these shorts at the time and was excited about them. One of the suggested outfits the stylist came up with was to wear a darker top with these shorts and make it look a little like a playsuit. At the time I made a note to try it when I got such a top in my wardrobe. It was the first outfit that came to mind when I saw this navy tank on sale at Kmart, so I was pleased to give the combination a go at last. The shorts were perfect for the two style challenges on instagram too, white in the print for Summer Style File and swishy for Darecember.

Like the outfit above, I really enjoyed wearing this. Wore it for a quiet day so it was one of those outfits you feel are a bit of a waste as you didn't do anything special in them! I've already worn it again with different accessories as I liked this outfit so much.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers (above), Kmart navy tank, printed navy shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Other ways to wearKmart navy tank and printed cardi, printed navy shorts and grey tee, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and a maxi skirt.

  1. I'm glad you guys get the full year too for maternity leave; I couldn't imagine going back so soon. Also- do you buy all your bags online?

  2. Ooh I love that first printed skirt, such great colors!!!
And yep, Australia is definitely amazing, women here barely get anything and it all depends on your employer.

  3. I love when two prints you wouldn't think about pairing together just work. I takes the versatility of a wardrobe to the max! Hope you are well and have a wonderful week!

  4. I don't really own much print, which I'm now realising is a bit sad. That skirt is so cheerful! I just find it difficult to wear skirts like that without becoming swamped in fabric. I hope baby T continues to improve :)

  5. Oh wow, that is so nice you get a whole year of maternity leave! We need to have that here. I love the shorts with the navy top, they really do make a great pair.

  6. Hey Mica I really like these two summer looks - and I cannot believe that you did not wear that skirt for two years.. then again I can relate because I am guilty of doing the same.

  7. Good for you for taking the full time off!

I love both looks but the second I'm obsessed with. So adorable!

    I hope you're enjoying your summer :)

  8. I like the printed bag with one printed piece. Sometimes I do go a little crazy with the pattern mixing everywhere though. I love the yellow and especially the necklace. Wow a whole year of maternity leave. That's so great, I never knew it could be that length of time.

  10. Go you! Taking a full year off is so unheard of. Most new mummas don't get such luxuries. I only have one friend who was able to do the same. I'm not a mum but I do believe there should be more support for both parents to spend more time with Bub.

  11. The on year maternity leave is really an amazing opportunity, we have discussed it before, and I can't believe that in several countries there is barely any at all.

  12. Wow, the outfits are so gorgeous! I love how warm and sunny it is over there, please send some of that sunshine to the UK, we could really use it, haha! :) <3 Also, good on you for taking a full year maternity leave! :) It's an amazing opportunity and we don't get as long in England, so it's great that you can make the most out of your time! :) <3 xoxo

  13. Great outfits! I really like the colorful necklace added to the second outfit, and I absolutely love the first outfit - the shades of blue and yellow are so pretty together! And of course the best bags!

  14. I love both outfits so much for such different reasons and you're making me miss summer! That skirt is amazing, as are both bags! I hope everything is going okay with your baby! How stressful that must be to be seeing specialists when he's so young! Hugs to you and your fam! XO

  15. Love your LV bags! What you said about not pairing them with too many patterns makes sense. They both look great. Glad you are taking your full year. I so wish we had that here!

  16. OK, that skirt in your first outfit is gorgeous! I mean, I like printed skirts and shorts in general but I'm really adoring the bright colors and just the way you styled it in general! :]

  17. Love how everything ties together in the top image down to your sandals and good work on the high shorts and tank! Haha I know what you mean about "wasting" an outfit too. So annoying when that happens.

  18. Mica, I LOVE BOTH OUTFITS! They look so pretty on you! That navy & yellow looks so good together. I love the prints of both bottoms. I don't blame you for taking the entire year this time. Spend time with your family. Australia is so generous with their maternity leave. Here in the US it is only 3 mos and they want you to rush back after that. LOL I don't have children, but I always felt for the ones that did. It's a constant struggle.

  19. I like how you mixed the prints in both looks! That's awesome that you guys are entitled to a whole year of maternity leave :) The US and other countries should definitely follow your lead!
