Skinny Jeans, Scarves and Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC cross Body Bag

Two simple and casual stay-at-home mum style outfits! Scarves, skinny jeans and Converse with my favourite Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag. It is officially the first day of winter here in Australia, and the weather really started to cool towards the end of autumn, when I wore these outfits.

What I wore:

ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs Stargazer scarf in aquamarine (on sale!)
JumperJeanswest 'Serena' ombre knit
JeansJeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC with python embossed leather in aquamarine

Why I wore it:

I've worn this scarf with red and with purple before, so thought that I would wear it with a neutral outfit to add some colour. Kept me cosy too. I caught up with a friend in the morning, and then baby T and I went op-shopping.

The style challenge for the day was 'red lippie'. I'd seen that prompt coming up and after seeing it come up on almost all the style challenges I've done, and after getting some feedback from you all about it, I decided to just take the plunge and get one. It's a lot brighter than my usual red tinted lip balm! A lovely sales assistant at the body shop helped me pick one. I've been wearing it for a few days now and I quite like the colour.  I don't layer it on as much as she did - it was really bright when she put it on, I only do one layer, easing myself into it!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, Marc by Marc Jacobs Stargazer scarf, ombre knit, black skinny jeans, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC.

Other ways to weargalaxy print scarf with red dress, ombre knit at 40 weeks pregnant, skinny jeans with a button up shirt, Converse with dresses for spring, aquamarine bag with a blue dress.

What I wore:

Jacket: Zara cream jersey blazer
ScarfAlexander McQueen modal skull scarf in white/pink (on sale!)
Tee: thrifted Dotti blue tee
JeansJeanswest Super Skinny Jeans in Mid Indigo (on sale with extra 30% off!)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC with python embossed leather in aquamarine

Why I wore it:

The Fox in Flats style challenge for the day was 'luxe layers'. The weather cooperated nicely, it was quite a cold and rainy day! Thankfully playgroup can be held inside on days like this, so we stayed dry. I wanted to wear the tee and the blazer as I was aware it was getting near the end of May and I still have that goal of wearing things twice in a month after I buy them. You can read a little more about my goals and reasons why here.

Since it's the second time I've worn both of these items, my purchase reviews:

Cobalt blue tee - I really like the gathered waist on this tee, the metallic thread detail and cut-outs around the neckline (similar to the black tank I have) and it fills the 'gap' in my wardrobe for a plain, bright coloured top. However just like my yellow tank, I found it tricky to wear it often this month. I think I just have too many tops in general, adding more probably wasn't a good idea. I'm still keeping it in my wardrobe, but I'm not going to be in a rush to add any more!

Zara blazer - this is the cream version of the black blazer that I love so much. I'm not as enthused with this one, probably as I've had to wash it so much since I got it. It was an ebay purchase and when I pulled it out the satchel it was really wet. After being in the mail for a few days and damp...it didn't smell very nice! So although it's dry clean only, I've had to wash it a few times. That's probably why it doesn't feel as comfortable and soft as my black blazer. I'm hoping it will soften up over time, as I like the colour.

This month I've added some nice things to my wardrobe, but not a lot of them have been 'must-wear' pieces. I am conscious that I'm doing a style challenge this month which dictates what I wear, and affects what I reach for in my wardrobe, but there has been a big contrast to me between the 'nice' purchases and the 'I am so in love with this' purchases.  I think I need to be stricter with my 'do I love this more than a similar item already in my wardrobe' questioning when I'm buying things. No matter how good the price may be!

Last worn: pink skull print scarf, cream blazer, cobalt blue tee, skinny jeans, Converse, RM mini MAC (above).

Other ways to wear: pink skull scarf with a chambray dress, cobalt blue tee with pencil skirt for the office, same blazer in black with pencil skirts for corporate wearskinny jeans in spring, Converse and denim shorts, aquamarine bag with orange pants.

Not long now until Baby T turns one! :O how do you feel about it? what are your plans for his birthday? I'm actually liking being back at work (I only work 5 and half hours though). Have you settled back in yet? it's hard leaving the little ones isn't it? xx

I'm glad you're enjoying being back at work! I'm still adjusting - like you said, it's hard leaving your son!

We are having a little party for his birthday - I'm really looking forward to it, I've gone a little crazy with decorations haha. Wont look as great as the party James had, but hopefully baby enjoys it!

I've started to buy stuff I REALLY love (not because of the price tag too) and which can be a part of at least 5 outfits! Enjoy your day, my dear!

  14. You look amazing with a red lip! And if a just bitten lip is more your style, go for it! I bet you would love any sort of a long lasting balm stain in the chubby stick form. They look like a giant crayon, but stain your lips that color so it's subtle.

Scarves are my favorite part about the cooler months. I know lots of people wear them in warmer ones too, but I feel weird doing it.

    I'm terrible at styling casual outfits! Like weekends, even grocery shopping. Which to most people isn't a big deal, but clothes make me feel a certain way and I want to be 100% happy in everything I wear. I blame part of my styling blocks from working in an office. Take away those dresses and cardigans and I'm lost. (;

    1. I do love my lip balms! :)

I find casual dressing easier than office dressing - less rules, haha! I like the freedom. Although my office is fairly casual anyway.

  31. Love this! You always look so happy! As for the blazer-- did you dry it in the dryer? I usually hang all my items to dry, which helps keep it soft. If your country has anything like Dryel, I'd suggest using those. It's an easy, cheap at-home solution to dry cleaning. :)

    1. I'll have to look for Dryel next time I'm at the super market! :) We don't have a dryer - we line dry everything as it's better for the environment, and with the hot days here in Queensland it never takes long in the sun! :)
