I've always liked maxi skirts, but have definitely started to favour them over jeans now. I have more denim than maxi skirts, but for some reason I can never stop thinking of ways to wear the few maxi skirts I do have, while I find myself getting bored with jeans.
Here's what I wore to catch up with some ladies in my mother's group:
Scarf: Alexander McQueen modal skull scarf in white/pink
Dress: Jeanswest 'Jenni' basic singlet in festival fuchsia
Skirt: Target black and white striped maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs pretty nylon Eliz-A-Baby bag
A quickly put together outfit that I really liked! As per usual, we were in a bit of a rush to get out the door for a little catch-up with some of the mums and bubs from our mother's group. I hurriedly put on something comfortable and cool, as the weather is certainly heating up here.
When I'd threw the tank and skirt together in the morning I'd thought it needed something else, and as I didn't have time to try on a few necklaces, I just picked a trusty scarf! The neon pink in the scarf and the berry pink of the singlet actually worked rather nicely together I think. I wasn't sure at first but didn't have time to change, something I grew to like the longer I had it on.
I wore this outfit combination a lot during pregnancy, the tank and maxi skirt are just both such comfortable pieces. The stretchy tank does emphasise a baby belly, and it kinda draws attention to the post-baby belly bulge too, so I haven't worn it too much post-baby. Going to have that little left-over belly for a while though, so may as well embrace it :)
Last worn: Alexander McQueen skull scarf, pink singlet, striped maxi skirt, Havaianas, Marc by Marc Jacobs baby bag.
Here's what I wore to spend time and home and go out for lunch:
Skirt: Target grey marle maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Another maxi skirt outfit. And stripes again! I still get a kick out of seeing that one of the previous times I wore this tee, I was posting about baby being overdue...the very next day, baby made his arrival into the world!
This outfit is really similar to the first one, just a striped top instead of a striped skirt. I find that the loose tee shirt hides the post-baby belly better than a tight stretchy tank though, so it's a good option if you're feeling self-conscious about the leftover bump.
Wore this to spend most of the day at home, and to take baby T out for lunch with his grandparents. Didn't dress this up with any accessories as I was inside mostly. A good stay at home mum outfit, but something I still felt comfortable enough going out in public in. This is never going to be one of those editorial, immaculately planned and executed outfit blogs, just what I actually wear every day, and I'm happy with that. I'm glad you're happy to be reading along too! Always happy for suggestions and feedback.
Last worn: striped tee, grey marle maxi skirt, Havaianas (above).
