Christmas Outfits: Casual and Dressy | Weekday Wear Linkup

A bit of a bumper post for the Weekday Wear Linkup today, showing you three outfits I wore over Christmas. We were very lucky to be able to spend time with our families over Christmas, with few restrictions in place here in Queensland. We haven't had any cases of coronavirus in the community in our state for over 100 days so our Christmas celebrations went on as normal, even if we had a quieter December and skipped a few other events to ensure we would all be healthy and well for the most important days! I definitely didn't take it for granted this year, with virus outbreaks in NSW state making me wonder if our plans may have had to change, and my son in hospital for an operation the week before. We were very blessed to be able to celebrate as planned.

So today I'm sharing what I wore for Christmas Day and Christmas Eve with my side of the family, as well as what I wore to spend Boxing Day at hubby's family's delayed Christmas celebration. All wardrobe oldies, with the exception of a couple new bags I got for Christmas!

What I wore for Christmas day:

Jeanswest Heather textured maxi dress in eggshell grecian column style Christmas Day Outfit with gold leo envelope clutch champagne | awayfromblue

mint dress and mixed metal bracelet stack with Rebecca Minkoff Leo envelope clutch in champagne gold | away from blue

Earrings: gold pendant chandelier earrings
Dress: Jeanswest Heather textured maxi dress in eggshell (c/o)
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus vintage silver charm bracelet and Disney Couture Winnie the Pooh bangle

Why I wore it:

This was my outfit for Christmas day itself. I was extremely excited to be able to wear my new bag, the Rebecca Minkoff Leo envelope clutch in champagne. It was massively reduced in the stocktake sales in June, so I bought one for myself and a few others as gifts, thinking as things were starting to get safer we would be back to regular and frequent parties for Christmas and New Year, ha! At over $100 off, I figured it was worth getting. Of course, with no big festive parties this will be the only time I wear it this year but it was fun to wear for Christmas day and I hope I have more chance to go out and use this clutch next year.

I knew I was going to wear an existing dress from my wardrobe for Christmas, I've had new ones the past few years so it was time to give one I already owned some love. Couldn't decide between this eggshell one or another purple printed one, but went with this dress in the end as I thought it matched my red glitter Christmas manicure better. Although I've had it a while I've never worn it for Christmas day before! Paired it with some gold accessories to compliment the champagne gold of the clutch. It was good to get all dressed up, we usually all get dressed up for church on Christmas day and although we didn't go to church this year we continued the tradition of dressing up.

Last worngold chandelier earrings, Grecian maxi dress, studded sandals. First time I've worn the Rebecca Minkoff Leo envelope clutch.

Other ways to wearGrecian maxi dress for a birthday party, studded sandals and shorts.

What I wore for Christmas Eve:

Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl burgundy foil reindeer and tree print Christmas scarf (tied on bag)
Earrings: Colette Ciao Bella glitter ball drop earrings
Tee: festive glitter Santa tee
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual plus Christmas ribbon bracelet and Polka Luka resin bangles in red and teal
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC

Why I wore it:

I wore this the day before, on Christmas eve. Every year, my family get together for a relaxed catch up before the big day. We do crafts, eat lots of snacks, listen to Christmas music, make and decorate cookies, and watch a festive movie. Which by popular demand from the kids has been the Polar Express for the past few years 😂 It's so fun to spend time together and enjoy some quiet time before the present madness of Christmas day!

Had to wear my traditional Santa tee of course, and a comfortable maxi skirt for lounging around. It was a really humid day so added the burgundy and silver foil scarf on my metallic mini MAC bag instead of wearing it round my neck. Mum got me this scarf so I was eager to wear it and figure out a way to make it work for the humid day. Thought it was a fun festive touch with the outfit.

What I wore for Boxing Day Christmas celebration:

Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus rose gold and faux pearl bracelet stack
Bag: Chloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

And on the third day of Christmas...the in-laws decided to do Christmas on boxing day instead. It was nice to not have to try travel around on Christmas day itself and the kids loved another day of presents! Christmas at the in laws is a lot more casual than in my family, and a much shorter gathering, but again I went with a maxi dress. This is an old favourite and I've hit 30 wears with it so I'll need to so a ways to wear post with it soon.

Something not too formal but not too casual, a maxi dress is just right! Wore my new bag with it - a massive thank you to my friend who texted me about this bag after I'd been telling her I was thinking of a Chloe Paraty for Christmas, she stumbled across it and knew it would be perfect. My husband was very pleased to see that this one was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the other Paraty bag I'd had my eye on too 😂 so it was my Christmas gift from him and the boys. I just love the colour and it pairs so nicely with the navy printed maxi dress. The earrings are new, a Christmas present from my mum and although they are a different shade of blue I thought it complimented the navy dress well and the gold works with the necklace, sandals and hardware on the Chloe Paraty bag.

Last wornnavy printed maxi dress, heart necklace, studded sandals (above). First time I've worn the Chloe Paraty bag and the tassel earrings as they were both Christmas presents.

Other ways to wearnavy printed maxi dress layered for winter, studded sandals and little black dress.

Subtle Red and Green Festive Summer Floral Duster Outfits

Hope you have a very merry Christmas tomorrow! Getting in one final post with more red and green outfits for you. I've had fun wearing this colour combo on a few days in December and this Christmas week has been a good time to share them.

What I wore:

Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono with black and white peplum tank bermuda shorts outfit subtle red and green festive style | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag with navy floral duster kimono | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | black and white peplum tee Bermuda shorts outfit with red printed floral kimono and green crossbody bag

Jacket: Jeanswest Melanie floral kimono
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Tank: Kmart black sleeveless frill hem peplum tank
Shorts: thrifted Emerson white Bermuda shorts
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs pearl, howlite and hematite beaded bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag

Why I wore it:

When I thought about trying out some red and green outfits for December I wanted to ease into it as it's a very Christmassy combo and I wasn't sure I could pull it off! Picking a printed kimono full of a few different colours, one of which is red, and accessorising with a little green bag, seemed like a good way to try it out! I also wanted to wear my newly thrifted shoes for the first time. I've shared about them before, picking them up at the opshop for just $3. I spent a little time cleaning them up as they were very worn and yellowed, but I was pleased to have got them looking a bit more presentable and being able to take them out for a spin on this day.

While the red and green combination is really subtle here the kimono is quite colourful and statement making, so I picked a simple black and white outfit to wear underneath with the peplum tank and white Bermuda shorts. They were also a thrift find! While the rose gold heart isn't an exact match with the gold hardware on the Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag I thought it was a close enough combination to go nicely together.

Was a nice quiet day - a little opshopping in the morning after the school run, and then sports in the evening after school pick up.

(Hoping for another handbag shaped present under the tree this year... 😉)

What I wore:

Jeanswest Delilah Long Line Kimono in Green Floral with peplum tee denim shorts Adidas superstar and burgundy bag subtle festive outfit | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag in burgundy with green floral duster | away from the blue

Jacket: Jeanswest Delilah Long Line Kimono in Green Floral
Necklace: Lovisa silver love knitted heart pendant necklace
Tee: thrifted black and white space dye peplum tee
Shorts: Jeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag in burgundy

Why I wore it:

I'm not entirely sure this combination worked with the green duster kimono and the burgundy bag. I didn't want to go too bright with one of my more cherry red bags. I thought this burgundy Rebecca Minkoff Avery crossbody bag would be a more subtle pairing but it wasn't as Christmassy as I hoped. Worked out nicely for the day though! Had an extremely busy day at work as I tried to wrap things up as much as possible to allow myself the opportunity to leave a little earlier and take my son out after school pickup to celebrate completing the year of school. Unfortunately, we realised that my plan to go grab ice creams was a fairly common one and we had to wait in a massive line as it seemed quite a few different parents had the same idea! 😂 The ice creams were definitely worth it though!

How You Can Wear It:

Red and green is a very festive combination, but doesn't have to be too bold. Try introducing one of the colours as an accessory like a bag as I have in these outfits, for a nod to December without feeling overdressed.

However you are celebrating Christmas this year, I hope you get to experience God's peace, comfort and joy. Feeling extremely blessed with no COVID cases in the community here in Queensland for 100 days that allows us to have Christmas with our family as we always do, I know others are not as lucky. This scheduled post will go live as we are spending Christmas eve laughing together, watching a Christmas movie, eating delicious food, making and decorating cookies and trying some festive crafts. Have a wonderful Christmas even if it doesn't look like you had hoped.

Weekday Wear Linkup: Festive Red and Green Maxi Skirt Outfits With Navy

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up post I'm sharing two red and green maxi skirt outfits I wore recently. In an effort to be a little more festive for December I decided to wear some red and green maxi skirt outfits this summer. Nothing too "costume-y" but both a lot of fun to wear. Even if I wore one of them on the weekend rather than on a week day!

What I wore:

red green and navy summer Christmas party outfit maxi skirt and frill sleeve tee, emerald bag | awayfromblue

red printed maxi skirt with Rebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue Instagram | red printed maxi skirt with green accessories for Christmas with navy frill sleeve tee

Earrings: Colette shadow dancer geo circle tassel drop earrings
Necklace: Ruby Olive Art series long striped pod necklace
Tee: Jeanswest Ruby frill sleeve Ric Rac detailed tee in deep iris
Skirtthrifted Billabong 'Don't Think Of It' bikini red printed maxi skirt
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers (new purchase)
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs howlite, hematite and red beaded bracelets with rose gold bead bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag

Why I wore it:

This was such a fun outfit! It's not the first time I've tired this red maxi skirt with green but I really liked the combination! It does feel so festive, with the green in the necklace and the green Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag and this red maxi skirt it was perfect for a day of Christmas parties! The kids wore some of their Christmas tees too. We had a party with some of my son's classmates in the morning after swimming lessons, and then another Christmas party in the afternoon with our neighbours. Socially distancing at them both of course, although we hadn't had any cases in over 84 days in Queensland. It was nice to have it feeling almost like normal again!

I've worn this navy frill sleeve tee with the red maxi skirt before, I thought it was a nice neutral base with the bright statement necklace and the green bag. It was also a very comfortable option for the hot and humid day, and although we got a little wet when the storm blew in under the gazebo in the afternoon and made us retreat into the neighbour's garage, we had a great day despite the weather!

Last worngold bar earringsnavy frill sleeve tee, Ruby Olive statement necklace, red printed maxi skirt, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 Zip bag. First time I've shared the shoes on the blog as they were a recent purchase.

What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 Zip Bag

Tank: Jeanswest Elissa leaf print tank
Skirt: thrifted navy viscose drawstring no label maxi skirt
ShoesNovo Tawny rose gold sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Polka Luka resin bangles in red and teal
BagRebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag

Why I wore it:

This is a more subtle green and red outfit than the one above, again with the little Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag, this time pairing it with the red in the fern print of the tank. I played up the green a bit more with the accessories, the green beaded statement necklace is such a good pairing with the green bag and the green and red resin bangles continued the colour scheme.

Again I added navy, this time a thrifted side split maxi skirt. It's such a nice light option for a hot day, even if we did spend most of it inside in the aircon. Took the kids out to the library, shopping for our last Christmas presents, and to mail off our letters to Santa. The kids had me write one too...Santa was kind enough to write back!

I thought the red and green colours would be fun, if a bit extra for a day of Christmas shopping. I dressed the kids in one of their Christmas tees too as I went overboard buying them this year and need to look for excuses to have them wear them, ha! We weren't the only ones festively attired at the shops that day though.

How You Can Wear It:

Red and green is a good festive colour combo to try in an outfit in December! To get into the mood for a Christmas party or maybe a little more subtly for a day of Christmas shopping, it's something you can have a lot of fun with!
