This will be a short post as it's mostly a video that you can see here:
Having a walk in wardrobe was a dream nice-to-have for our new house, and while I was annoyed that the company our builder used to make the wardrobes refused to work with me on a custom one, I did have a lot of fun planning out my own without their help!
To keep things simple I went with Ikea pieces - the Pax and Brimnes wardrobes. Although I manged to both: create the room wrong on the Ikea tool so that none of the pieces I wanted would fit; and then create the room correctly, and still pick the wrong sized pieces. Thankfully both things noticed before purchasing the pieces but sadly in the second case not noticed until after mum and I had loaded up the trolley with about 40% of the incorrectly sized wardrobe in the warehouse section of the store...
With my uncle kindly installing the wardrobes though once I bought the right pieces it was smooth sailing from there, and I had a lot of fun putting everything in its place once the wardrobes were up! When we turned the spare room in our old townhouse into a nursery I had to split all my things across multiple wardrobes and storage boxes, and put all my bags in boxes under our bed, so having all my clothes and accessories for all seasons in one room is so exciting for me! Definitely one of my favourite rooms in our new house.
This room has a place for everything and it's so easy to keep it tidy and organised, I've even used this room to film a few more videos for my Youtube channel too. I'd like to make a few changes to it, like a plant or something colourful to fill that space, and simplify how I store my necklaces a little. It would be good to do another wardrobe inventory too now I can see everything at a glance.
Of course I love that I can just open up the wardrobe and see all my beautiful bags in one place - handbag lover heaven!
(My bag collection has expanded a little since this video was filmed too 🙊)
Note: I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home and so isolate at home with my family and my admittedly large handbag collection. If you are in a similar situation and want to give back, you can find some ways to help others during the Coronavirus crisis here. If you're an Aussie who needs support, there are various services available.
Thank you for cool post and video!!
ReplyDeleteBesutiful collection!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I cannot imagine having all those pieces loaded up and then realizing you had the wrong sizes! At least you realized it BEFORE you bought them! I wish I had space for this kind of storage, I love how you store your bags, looks like a shop!
ReplyDeletexo,
Kellyann
Yes I love having the bags on display - it was good I did notice my mistake before I purchased everything!
DeleteSo sorry you had to go through unnecessary closet issues, which builder should had step up and IKEA should had right measurement. Thank god for family who help your goal get accomplished. Stay Safe
ReplyDeleteOh the Ikea issues were all on me, haha! But the wardrobe builder was a bit annoying! I'm glad I got the dream wardrobe in the end!
DeleteIt must have been so frustrating having those issues but in the end it all worked out ok. I have an Ikea wardrobe too although I did not have to buy the pieces for it or fit it together. It's handy it has all the different compartments.

Ikea does have so many cute pieces!
Delete😮 Your closet is fabulous! I love how you can see all of your things in a glance.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your charming video your custom closet is amazing and so well organized. Wish I had someone like your uncle to help me build stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm so lucky he had the time to come help build it for me! :)
DeleteIt would be so nice to have a walk in closet!
ReplyDeleteYour wardrobe is so pretty! I always wanted a walk in closet :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a fabulous Handbag Collection! Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteI can guess how much had be frustrating when you've discovered that the sizes were all wrong, but the only important thing is that at the end everything went well, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteYou've got a very lovely walk in closet, and very well organized!
Mine is a total mess all year round I definitely should take you ( and this video) as example! ^^'

DeleteI just loved this post, dear! Thanks for sharing xx
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Oh my goodness! I am so glad you got it all set up. This wardrobe is AMAZING. I love how you have everything organized and set up. Also, the idea to stack bracelets on a Coke bottle is pretty much the most genius thing I have ever heard. I am ABSOLUTELY going to do that!!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Please do! It's not my idea at all, I've done it for years, I can't remember where I saw it first! :)
DeleteHaving a walk in wardrobe is a dream for many. It's good that you were still able to customize it the way you wanted despite not getting cooperation from your builder's company and the other issues you went through. This was a fun little peek and it looks great. Thanks for sharing Mica!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the awesome tour, Mice
ReplyDeleteYou organize your jewelries in the closet very neat and beautifully, and I like your handbag storage :)
Have a lovely weekend!
Oh my gosh, how fun! I love all the fun colors of your bags! A little closet rainbow!

Oh so sorry to hear that I love your closet though.
ReplyDeleteGreat video - super annoying having those problems, I know how frustrating that can be! This has really inspired me to organise my own closet though!

I love how organized your closet looks. Your closet for the handbag collection is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend Mica.
I love the idea to store handbags! Mine are a bit everywhere and I don't like that. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLindifique
I do love having everything in one place! :)
DeleteThis is an absolute dream! I'm so happy for you that you and your family managed to put this together. My clothes are lucky enough to have their own room too but I'm still a little short on storage in there so my wardrobe setup isn't where I want it to be yet x

Everyone need your uncle in their house. Ha!! This is a well organized wardrobe, Mica. Lovely!

Haha yes! He's highly sought after, and I'm thankful he still helps out even though he's in retirement!
DeleteThanks for sharing this:) What a lovely wardrobe. I am totally loving your storage ideas, and using that Coke bottle for your bracelets was brilliant! I am also so jealous that you have an uncle who can do all this, and a super patient mom:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Yes I'm so thankful for the help from my family!
DeleteThank you for inviting us into your closet :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the video and you have an amazing style! So vibrant :)

Love you and your sweet heart, providing links for those who need help. Beautiful wardrobe. Glad you were able to create the perfect space you needed. We begged our builder to make the window in the master bathroom an opening window and he wouldn't. So we did it ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThat's frustrating you had to do it yourself! I'm glad I was able to get the wardrobe I wanted in the end. I loved our house builder, but the company they used for the rest of the walk in wardrobes (each room has it's own walk in robe) is not one I'd recommend as they refused to work with me on this.
DeleteI love how you store and organize your clothes and everything overall! Everything has a nice home. I should maybe roll my scarves similar to how you did too. I like that you have your handbags neatly organized! You have a lot to choose from for your day to day outfits! :)
ReplyDeleteNancy ♥ exquisitely.me
it works really well having them rolled up like that! I can pull them out without upsetting the stack too much! :)
DeleteWhat a lovely tour! And your bag collection nis amazing! But I don t have to tell you that! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour closet is so dreamy. I love the way you've organized everything and there is so much color.

This is something I've just been putting off for so long - reorganizing my closet. I love that wardrobe you got and it's perfect for your things (but I think you're going to need a second one once we're released to go shopping again :P I have a nice tall shelving unit and a set of drawers in my walk-in closet (which I share with my husband) but it's still a real mess. That's got to be my next project. Thanks so much for the inspiration and your organizational skills are amazing!

Glad I could give you some inspiration! My goal is to never outgrow this wardrobe space but I do have a habit of buying lots of bags so we will see I guess, haha!
DeleteWhat a great closet, especially the purse part. How nice to have everything open and in one place where you can see it.
ReplyDeleteHaving a walk in wardrobe is a wonderful thing. I feel like everyone should do it if they have the space for it. I don't have it, but maybe some day. Anyhow, it was nice seeing this. Your wardrobe looks great. So great your uncle helped you to realize your ideas and a walk in wardrobe thing. I bet the wrong size was a nuisance but great you all worked it out in the end. I like how you organized your necklaces, they look very neat stored like that. I also like how you stored your scarves- again, good organization. It's fun to see your handbag collection. Your closet space looks very organized. Have a fab day!
ReplyDeleteYes I'm so glad we have the space for it in our new place! And I like how everything has its own place :)
DeleteWhat a lovely walk-in wardrobe! I love how organized you are. It's so nice to have your uncle helping you out with building the shelves. I can see why it is your favorite spot in the house. Such a colorful and bright space. Hope you and your family are well :D We just had heavy rain here and it's such a break from the heat and humidity we're experiencing. Take care and I look forward to see more videos from you!

Oh my Mica! I must admit to being just a wee bit envious of your fabulous dressing room which for me is the stuff of dreams! You've organized things magnificently, and your bag collection is truly impressive. I could watch your video again and again and marvel! xxx
ReplyDeleteHow organized and lovely 🌷
ReplyDeleteLove your bag collection, Mica! I'm surprised you don't use dust bags for your bags? What do you do with all the boxes? I have such a hard time let those go. I'd love to see how you care for all these different types of bags and what kind of stuff you use to keep them looking sharp! Hope you guys are doing well, Mica. Take care!
ReplyDeletex,

Boxes are all on top of the wardrobe (my short self didn't get them in the video sorry!) and the dustbags are inside the bags :) Like I said in the video, the cupboard doors keep the light and dust out, and stuffing the bags with the dustbags helps them keep their shape :)
DeleteLove seeing your closet. We plan on doing a custom closet.

You have a nice collection of bags in your closet. I have only a handful of handbags. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteNice collection of hand bags and well organized too.
ReplyDeleteLove the bag storage. I don't have nearly as many bags as you do - but still have a fair number that are just randomly stuck somewhere. Might have to think and figure out something for myself.

I would LOVE to have a walk-in closet! My bedroom closet is pretty small, so everything is smushed in there, and I have more clothes in our spare bedroom closet. And I have to swap out clothes by season. So you're really living the dream! Your wardrobe looks SO beautiful and organized!
ReplyDeleteYes, I used to have to do that! I'm loving having it all in one room!
DeleteWhat a lovely collection of bags! And I do like how you have them organized. My closet is barely large enough for clothes. This looks great.
