Wardrobe Tour and How I Store My Handbag Collection

No outfit for today's post! Instead I'm sharing something that's frequently requested, what my walk in wardrobe looks like, and how I store all my bags!

This will be a short post as it's mostly a video that you can see here:

Having a walk in wardrobe was a dream nice-to-have for our new house, and while I was annoyed that the company our builder used to make the wardrobes refused to work with me on a custom one, I did have a lot of fun planning out my own without their help!

To keep things simple I went with Ikea pieces - the Pax and Brimnes wardrobes. Although I manged to both: create the room wrong on the Ikea tool so that none of the pieces I wanted would fit; and then create the room correctly, and still pick the wrong sized pieces. Thankfully both things noticed before purchasing the pieces but sadly in the second case not noticed until after mum and I had loaded up the trolley with about 40% of the incorrectly sized wardrobe in the warehouse section of the store...

With my uncle kindly installing the wardrobes though once I bought the right pieces it was smooth sailing from there, and I had a lot of fun putting everything in its place once the wardrobes were up! When we turned the spare room in our old townhouse into a nursery I had to split all my things across multiple wardrobes and storage boxes, and put all my bags in boxes under our bed, so having all my clothes and accessories for all seasons in one room is so exciting for me! Definitely one of my favourite rooms in our new house.

This room has a place for everything and it's so easy to keep it tidy and organised, I've even used this room to film a few more videos for my Youtube channel too. I'd like to make a few changes to it, like a plant or something colourful to fill that space, and simplify how I store my necklaces a little. It would be good to do another wardrobe inventory too now I can see everything at a glance.

Of course I love that I can just open up the wardrobe and see all my beautiful bags in one place - handbag lover heaven!

(My bag collection has expanded a little since this video was filmed too 🙊)

Note: I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home and so isolate at home with my family and my admittedly large handbag collection. 2. Oh my goodness, I cannot imagine having all those pieces loaded up and then realizing you had the wrong sizes! At least you realized it BEFORE you bought them! I wish I had space for this kind of storage, I love how you store your bags, looks like a shop!

    1. Oh the Ikea issues were all on me, haha! But the wardrobe builder was a bit annoying! I'm glad I got the dream wardrobe in the end!

  4. It must have been so frustrating having those issues but in the end it all worked out ok. I have an Ikea wardrobe too although I did not have to buy the pieces for it or fit it together. It's handy it has all the different compartments.

  12. Oh my goodness! I am so glad you got it all set up. This wardrobe is AMAZING. I love how you have everything organized and set up. Also, the idea to stack bracelets on a Coke bottle is pretty much the most genius thing I have ever heard. I am ABSOLUTELY going to do that!!

  27. Love you and your sweet heart, providing links for those who need help. Beautiful wardrobe. Glad you were able to create the perfect space you needed. We begged our builder to make the window in the master bathroom an opening window and he wouldn't. So we did it ourselves.

    1. That's frustrating you had to do it yourself! I'm glad I was able to get the wardrobe I wanted in the end. I loved our house builder, but the company they used for the rest of the walk in wardrobes (each room has it's own walk in robe) is not one I'd recommend as they refused to work with me on this.

  33. This is something I've just been putting off for so long - reorganizing my closet. I love that wardrobe you got and it's perfect for your things (but I think you're going to need a second one once we're released to go shopping again :P I have a nice tall shelving unit and a set of drawers in my walk-in closet (which I share with my husband) but it's still a real mess. That's got to be my next project. Thanks so much for the inspiration and your organizational skills are amazing!

  35. Having a walk in wardrobe is a wonderful thing. I feel like everyone should do it if they have the space for it. I don't have it, but maybe some day. Anyhow, it was nice seeing this. Your wardrobe looks great. So great your uncle helped you to realize your ideas and a walk in wardrobe thing. I bet the wrong size was a nuisance but great you all worked it out in the end. I like how you organized your necklaces, they look very neat stored like that. I also like how you stored your scarves- again, good organization. It's fun to see your handbag collection. Your closet space looks very organized. Have a fab day!

  40. Love your bag collection, Mica! I'm surprised you don't use dust bags for your bags? What do you do with all the boxes? I have such a hard time let those go. I'd love to see how you care for all these different types of bags and what kind of stuff you use to keep them looking sharp! Hope you guys are doing well, Mica. Take care!

    1. Boxes are all on top of the wardrobe (my short self didn't get them in the video sorry!) and the dustbags are inside the bags :) Like I said in the video, the cupboard doors keep the light and dust out, and stuffing the bags with the dustbags helps them keep their shape :)
