What I wore:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Jacket: Choies red vintage pattern kimonoNecklace: Roie Designs pearl and antique gold long necklace
Tank: Cotton On red singlet
Jeans: Jeanswest Bindi skinny 7/8 jeans in indigo luxe
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe
Why I wore it:
It's not the first time I've worn this printed kimono with a bright tank. The print would look nice with a striped top too, but I'm pretty happy wearing it with some plain block-colour tops. I had such a hard time looking up last time I wore this tank. I have a deep pink tank from Jeanswest, and this berry red tank from Cotton On. They are both really similar. I noticed it after I bought the Jeanswest one, when I got it home and went to put it in my wardrobe with the rest of my tanks. I probably should have returned it, but figured they were slightly different enough that I could keep them. Of course now when I add my little details under each picture of what I was wearing, I can never tell if it was the red tank or the deep pink one as they are so similar! This time it was definitely the red one, but I'm not convinced that this was the last time I wore it, I'm sure I've worn it again after that and just not tagged it correctly on the blog!I thought the striped canvas mini MAC bag would look nice with the printed kimono, similar colours. I had been wanting to wear this bag again for a while, I seem to always pick my aquamarine mini MAC more often. I was hoping to take a video for my youtube channel with this bag after wearing it, as someone had requested one, but I ran out of time and daylight. Baby T's grandparents were over in the afternoon, but I didn't realise I should have taken advantage of the babysitting to shoot a video until after they left, ha!
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, printed kimono, red tank, prima denim skinny jeans, Havaianas, striped canvas mini MAC.
Other ways to wear: red kimono with black and gold, ombre outfit with a red tank (and third trimester baby belly!) print mixing with skinny jeans, red striped mini MAC with navy shirt dress.
What I wore:
Necklace: freshwater pearl strand necklace
Tank: MEV Britney bubble tank in mood indigo C/O ZibiboSkirt: AT by Atmos&Here Mars striped maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
Long time since I last wore this tank. It's a nursing tank I got while I was pregnant, and I wore it until the baby bump got too big for it. Then it kinda got lost in my wardrobe. I set it aside one day to wear to one of my mother's group catch-ups, but didn't make it out that day and so it got pushed to the back of my wardrobe for 'next time'. It was uncovered (along with a few other tops) during my wardrobe detox with the personal stylist. I didn't give them nearly as much love as I thought I would in the early breastfeeding days! The combo of jumper/cardigan over a breastfeeding singlet worked quite well for me. And pretty much any top becomes suitable for breastfeeding when you have one of those singlets underneath.I thought I'd wear this tank out again for a morning at playgroup with baby and then shopping and lunch in the afternoon. As the stylist said as we went through my wardrobe, you'd never know this was a nursing top unless it was pointed out. I wore it with my blue Balenciaga because I seem to be grabbing that bag a lot for playgroup recently!
Couldn't decide on a necklace to wear with this in the morning - in the end I went for this knotted stand of freshwater pearls which also hasn't been worn recently. Held up quite well when baby T tugged on it through the day too. Does anyone remember that trend a while back where everyone had long beaded necklaces and just tied a knot in them to add 'interest'? Or was that just me? I had so many at one point!
Last worn: breastfeeding tank, striped maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Balenciaga tempete day bag.
Other ways to wear: navy tank with a striped pencil skirt, print mixing with a striped maxi skirt, Balenciaga day bag in summer.

Totally had more than enough knotted necklaces back in the day. (; Though freshwater pearls are a classic. Can't go wrong there. How awesome is that stylist? I mean finding ways to work nursing tanks into your functioning wardrobe is genius! Plus I know how comfy some of those maternity tops can be. (; I actually kept one, knotted the bottom, and wear it as a night shirt.
ReplyDeleteLoving the kimono and how you paired it with a striped bag. Mixing prints is so in and it's great to work them into different seasons. (:
haha yes I'm glad someone remembers the trend too! :)
DeleteI am so pleased I got the stylist to come over, she had so many great ideas for my wardrobe! :)
You look so beautiful and casual! I love your kimono <3

I like contrast of the kimono print with the bag -
ReplyDeleteI see the kimono and want to wear mine but then when I get to it in the closet I dont know what to pair it with… I hate it when that happens!
I usually always wear mine with denim, although I have tried to wear it with maxi skirts a few times :)
DeleteLove the stripes! That striped Rebecca Minkoff bag is adorable too!

I love the kimono top - I will wear mine tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI have an issue with tanks: they all jumble together into a big coloured mess. I have to remind myself that they aren't tops in their own right and need to be layered. I'd rather have an actual top than a tank.
I guess with the heat here in Queensland tanks can be tops in their own right too, but you are correct they do work so well for layering! :)
DeleteYour kimono top is lovely!
I've been trying to find a kimono for so long! Yours looks so lovely on you! I love the colors on it :)

Thanks! It's a cheap and cheerful bargain from Choies! :)

That's an excellent way of incorporating tanks with your outfits Mica. Very nice layering of them with beautiful prints. Looks so pretty on you. Loving your bag in the first outfit set! Nice!

Oh that tank dilemma is all too familiar - I have to convince myself that all of my plain white shirts are different (they're not really). I actually love both looks - especially that printed kimono!

haha yes isn't it funny how we all build up little 'collections' like that?
DeleteI'm such a sucker for kimonos in the spring and summer! Love your print one, and oooooh, that second outfit is nautical perfection <3
ReplyDeleteThe Dragonfruit Diaries
You look amazing in pink, I love the patterned jacket, it is so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love these spring looks! Especially the first one because it is colourful and I love it ^^
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty and colorful kimono! It looks wonderful paired with your red tank and jeans. I really want to add a black and white striped maxi skirt to my wardrobe - they seem so flexible!
ReplyDeleteI certainly think maxi skirts are very flexible! :)
DeleteI like that printed kimono a lot, it looks cosy and original at the same time. I do like the way you've styled it! The second outfit is also nice, it's feminine and pretty! Besides, those snapshots are so cute;)
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous time!
That first tank is an EXACT match for the colors in your kimono! Such a cute outfit. We're wearing similar outfits today with our black tops and striped maxi skirts with sandals! (Unless it's navy and not black, hard to tell!) haha
ReplyDeleteIt's navy and white stripes but shhhh who has to know, we can just say we match haha! :)
DeleteThese looks are so fresh and cute.

Hard to say which look I prefer, love both of them. You suit the colours in both outfits. Your kimono is so colourful and fun, I would so wear it!
ReplyDeleteI really like the way your kimono and striped bag look together in your first outfit! That striped maxi in your second outfit is adorable! I've been searching for one like that for months!
ReplyDeleteThis was an old sale buy from quite a few seasons ago - it's been very versatile! Hope you can find a similar one! :)
DeleteAdore the cute red stripe bag in the first picture and the classy stripe skirt in the second outfit! Very lovely pieces!

I think kimonos are best for tanks because it just dresses it up and you don't have to worry about it sitting weirdly over your shoulders or anything!! Love the maxi skirt you're wearing :D
ReplyDeleteElleosophy
Yes kimonos and tanks are the perfect partners!
DeleteI've told you all about mine too hehehe! I have way too many white tanks, I feel like I should branch out to other hues. I have tried but I always end up sticking to a grey or black instead of white. Then again if I did venture out like that I wonder if I'd even wear it? Probably now ;o)

hehe yep it's a common problem to have, tanks are such a good basic so we always buy them I think! :) OR that's my reason anyway, ha!
DeleteIt might be good to try branch out but like you said if you're happy with what you've got you wouldn't get much wear out of something different.
I have the same issue with waaaaay too many plain coloured tank tops. Love your ways of wearing them. That kimono is just gorgeous and the striped maxi skirt is perfect with that tank top xox
ReplyDeleteI really need to do something about it but they are all so 'practical' and good basics...I just need to wear them more! :)
DeleteNice casual outfits! Love your kimono!
ReplyDeleteAlena & http://garmentsspeech.blogspot.com
Thank you all for your kind comments! :)
ReplyDeleteYour hair is looking super duper pretty too! I used to live in colour block tanks when I was a young mum. So handy, cheap and cheerful, perfect for feeding, and flattering too!
