Here's what I wore to go out with my grandparents:
Sunnies: Rayban new Wayfarers
Top: River Island floral print sleeveless shirt
Skirt: Jeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)
The style challenge was to 'wear something you have bought in January'. I had planned to be spending a bit of time at the shops in January, taking advantage of those final reductions in the last few days of the sales and spending the gift cards I got for Christmas. However, my family had a big surprise planned, and my grandparents flew in to visit us and meet baby T. Most of January was spent out sightseeing around Brisbane and making the most of the time I had with my grandparents. As I'm still on maternity leave and being a stay at home mum, there wasn't much effort required to clear my schedule to spend time with them. It was wonderful. Since I didn't buy anything all month, I wore this pretty top I got given in January from my mum instead. Nice and cool outfit for lunch with my grandparents by the sea.
Wanted to try and be a little different from how I'd worn this top before, so I wore it with a maxi skirt this time. I know the shirt looks good with denim, but I'm trying to think of different ways to wear the things I own and not be too repetitive. That way I'm more likely to 'shop my own closet' and go shopping less when I'm looking for something 'new' to wear.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, floral shirt, jersey maxi skirt, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere.
Here's what I wore to go out for lunch and a movie:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Tank: Jeanswest 'Macy' ombre tank in 'very berry'
Skirt: Jeanswest 'Helena' black jacquard skirt
Sandals: Asos 'five star' leather sandals
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)
It's nice to share an outfit that wasn't put together because of a style challenge! Thanks for following along as I completed DAREcember and JaNEWary! Although I had fun dressing along with the style challenges I followed on instagram in December and January, at times they felt restrictive. It was sometimes a struggle to wear something that would fit the theme for the day and still be practical for life with baby. I think doing two month-long style challenges back to back was a bit too much for me, I was a bit over it near the end!
On the positive side, it was good getting to look at my wardrobe in a different way. The challenges gave me a chance to wear some little-worn pieces and to come up with combinations I wouldn't ordinarily have gone for. It is good to mix things up now and then, and a style challenge is nice way to help me achieve my goals of wearing more of what I own and making each piece in my wardrobe something that is loved and frequently worn.
I wore this outfit because as I mentioned last time I wore the tank, I haven't worn it much since I got it because it didn't fit when I was pregnant. It definitely needs worn more, I really like it! Thought this black skirt would look nice with it. However, I wasn't entirely comfortable in this outfit, I think maybe the ombre and the beading and the jacquard fabric of the skirt is all too much together? Still, wore it out anyway as I didn't have time to change. Went out for lunch, did some shopping at Ikea and then watched a movie with my mum and sister.
Last worn: wayfarers (above), Jeanswest ombre tank, jacquard skater skirt, Asos leather sandals, Louis Vuitton Bandouliere(see above).

I love the top your mom gave you. It must have been nice to spend time with your grandparents. I hope you enjoyed every second with them! I cannot imagine how it is to not have them nearby/. Mine live just 15 minutes away.
ReplyDeleteI also want to congratulate you for finishing both challenges! I always fail by day three, haha! For me its mostly the fact that I want to dress for how I feel and when you have to incorporate a certain theme into your OOTD that can get difficult sometimes. xo
I really wish I did have them closer, it has been wonderful having them here! It was so special getting to spend lots of time with them.
DeleteIt can be hard when the thing that fits the theme isn't the thing you want to wear that day!
So glad you got to enjoy some great time with your family! What a fun surprise. I love the pink on you in the second look.

Great outfits! I've never done a style challenge before but I imagine it would be little tricky!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of those challenges, I feel like I tire of them fairly quickly. But good on you for sticking out with both challenges. It was fun seeing them all here on the blog and Instagram

Great ensembles, my friend! oh Mica! I'm still here just wedging in the remodeling {getting new living room furniture} with blogging. I just forget to blog. I got used to not thinking about it and it's hard getting it all back in my noggin!!! ♥
ReplyDeleteAnd ...HAPPY VALENTINE'S!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty looks, Micah! The floral and maxi skirt are adorable. I have contemplated style challenges, but was worried I would find them restricting, so I am glad I'm not the only one. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are fun and do make you think differently, but yes they can feel restrictive if you really want to wear something that doesn't meet the theme of the day!
DeleteYou are the queen of maxi skirts! I love that first look with the blouse.

Thank you all for your comments! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat bag.
ReplyDeleteI just read your comment on what you do with the items that leave your closet.
Are you still selling your bags ? or do you have any future plans to?
I am thinking of downsizing my handbag collection! When I do I either sell myself to friends or other bag collectors I know, sometimes ebay but more often than not a consignment store :)
