Here's what I wore to go to a first aid course:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Tank: Jeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
Shorts: Jeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts (on sale, 40% off!)
Shoes: Balenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
Bracelets: the usual plus old Diva purple, blue and pink bracelet stack
First official day of summer called for a nice and colourful outfit. The style prompt for the day was "stacked up", easy to do by adding some bright bangles.
Wore shorts as the ladies in my mothers group had organised a baby and kid first aid course. There was lots of participation trying different things, so shorts were good to ensure coverage as I alternated between cuddling and feeding baby T and practising on the first aid dummies. It was really good to learn how to give first aid for a baby, but it's something that - like my adult first aid skills - I hope I'll never have to use.
Second wearing of these shorts since I bought them in November, so my purchase review:
I'm so glad I picked these up! I do have a few pairs of shorts, but they are all denim ones and so these add a little variety to my wardrobe. Like my other shorts, they will only be worn in the warmer weather, which I'm happy with as I got them on sale and didn't spend much. With the extremely hot summers we have in Queensland not everything can be a year-round piece, and I'm okay with that for some of my wardrobe items. I just don't want to make a habit of buying pieces I can only wear in limited ways.
So far the shorts have only been worn with tank tops, but that's exactly how I envisaged wearing them and I figure I have so many different tanks that it's not going to get repetitive. It doesn't sound like a winner (can only wear a few ways, season-specific, something I already own a lot of) but something that I still like and will get wear out of regardless, as I bought it after considering the downsides.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, purple tank, printed shorts, studded Balenciaga sandals.
Here's what I wore to go shopping with my mum and sister:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Diva long red heart necklace
Cami: Jeanswest 'Mia' cami in black
Skirt: AT by Atmos&Here Mars striped maxi skirt
Shoes: Asos metallic Freestyle leather sandals
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster
The challenge for the day was "to the max" so of course I had to wear a maxi skirt! Added in a bit of print mixing too with the stripes and polka dots. I ended up having to swap out these sandals for thongs instead in the morning. I noticed while walking Cooper that they don't fit any more. They have an elasticated strap around the heel and when I last wore them (while heavily pregnant!), I didn't put them away properly and I've stretched out the strap. When I hobbled home I quickly grabbed my thongs instead before heading out. The sandals have left my wardrobe!
Baby T and I stopped off for a check-up with the Child Health Nurse and then we met up with my mum and sister to do some Christmas shopping at the outlets. Of course we stopped by the Jeanswest outlet....they had a special on, jeans for only $10! I wasn't in love with any of the fits from the few I tried on though so I left them behind. Gave myself a little pat on the back for being sensible. Before, I'd have snapped up the jeans even though I didn't love them, just because they were such a good bargain.
Last worn: polka dot cami, striped maxi skirt, gold sandals, Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag.

Thank you! It is a fun challenge to participate in :)
DeleteI like your printed shorts! I can imagine these with a white button down and flats or even heels.
ReplyDeleteI think its a great idea to take a first aid course wether for children or grown ups, you just never know when you`ll need these.
Very true - I hope I'll never have to use it, but it is good to know it just in case! These shorts will go with so much! :)
DeleteLove the second cami!

ReplyDeleteThanks! It's fun to participate in! :)
DeleteYou look really lovely in that maxi and top - love the pattern mixing!
ReplyDeleteBoth great outfits and perfect for the occasions. I know how you feel about these deals that are so good that are too good to pass up. I would've gone crazy just trying to find a pair of jeans to fit for that price which is crazy but that's how my mind works.

haha yes I had to restrain myself from trying on loads! I only took 3 I really liked into the fitting room and left them there when they weren't perfect. I would normally buy them anyway, or try on every pair in my size! Having baby helps as I have to be quick so he doesn't get cranky ;)
DeleteLove this look! (: You have such effortless style.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely in love with the second outfit!! Gorgeous flutter top and the mix of prints and pattern are so summery. I wish I was in the southern hemisphere now..gah!
ReplyDeleteThe first aid course sounds like a great idea. Love both looks.

Love the ruffles in your second outfit! And I think it's great that you're practicing first aid. Although I hope you'll never have to use it, it's always so good to be prepared no matter what.
ReplyDeleteGreat looks!

Two fab stylings! That rock lobster bag is awesome, Mica! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI've taken a first aid course. It's something else. I'm like you. I hope I never need it. I think it's so cool they have one tailored to babies. Love that purple and print together. Love the fullness of the top in the second outfit over the maxi skirt. Very cool look.

I'm really grateful they had one for babies, as it's so different from adult first aid! Hopefully we will never need to use our first aid skills :)
DeleteThat heart necklace was the perfect addition to that last outfit.
