Top: Cotton On purple long sleeved top
Skirt: Vintage pencil skirt from The Thrifty Kitten
Shoes: Wittner 'Lumen' heel in patent leather
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
A very similar outfit to the last time I wore this skirt. I had planned to wear a nice warm knit jumper as the top, but it was more oversized than I remembered and didn't look good with the skirt. Really needs a more fitted top, so I dug out this old long sleeved top. The purple worked well with the skirt last time, so went with it again.
Last worn: vintage skirt, Wittner heels, LV damier azur neverfull. First time I've worn the top on the blog.

Here's what I wore to work today:
Jumper: Asos crochet shell top in cream
Dress: French Connection 'Woodblock wonder' panache dress in white/geranium rose
Shoes: Acne pistol boots in "skin"
Bracelets: the usual plus Edenborough Evans 'Ivy' silver cuff
Bag: Marc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown
Last year I saw a few bloggers trying the "jumper over dress" look and looking great doing so. So I was excited to give it a try now it's cooler. I don't seem to have the perfect top for it though - it's a tricky thing to master! It's not as simple as just picking one I've found, you have to think about length and fit of the top. Still not sure if I like this look on me, but it did keep me cosy all day. If you have any tips for layering a jumper over a dress, please share! :)
Last worn: crochet jumper, printed dress, Acne pistol boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran.

hehe thanks Kim! Just trying to think up new ways of using what I already own rather than buying new stuff all the time! :)
DeleteI like how you really planned your workwear everyday! Sometimes I'm so lazy and feeling very "in attractive" all I do was throw on some good old cotton t and a pair of dark denim and off I go lol
ReplyDeletehaha I prefer to sleep in as long as possible in the mornings, so always pick what I'm wearing the night before. Means I can be as relaxed as I want when finding something to wear :) And dresses are my go to on those kind of days - easy! :)
DeleteYou look fab in both outfits!! But the 1st one is WOW!!!

p.s. I like to add a belt if going for a knit over a dress - like this http://www.thankfifi.com/2012/08/camouflage-matchy-matchy/ or if you have pockets in your dress, tuck a bit of the jumper into one of them.x
Oh thank you so much! I am definitely going to try replicate that look, its perfect :) you layer so well!
DeleteI love your skirt and dress!! They're both such gorgeous prints. I think the jumper over dress look works well the way you did it - I totally thought that was a skirt. And of course, your bags are fabulous as always :)
ReplyDeleteLove the orange and white dress. Looks great and with the white jumper over the top! Great look Mica!

ReplyDeleteLove your look!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in both. Love the orange dress. Just thought maybe the first outfit could have used a belt :)

A belt would be really nice! I'd love to pair it with a skinny navy belt but I don't have one, an item on my shopping list definitely :)
DeleteI think these 2 looks are some of my FAVORITES for you. So pretty!! Also, the first look goes together so well it looks like a dress :) Very chic.

second outfit is super chic! just wanted to say :)
ReplyDeletesteph / absolutely-fuzzy.com
looking fabulous Mica! love the first look with that cute pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteI think the number one thing for me when picking a jumper for a skirt is that because it's usually baggy I feel I look like a giant potato sack lol
but that's why I always make sure to cinch my waist in with a belt ;)
Thanks for the tip, I think I definitely need to try a belt next time! :)
DeleteThat skirt in your first outfit has such a pretty pattern and I LOVE the ankle booties in your second outfit. Gorgeous! I think the jumper over dress thing really worked in your outfit :)
