First, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is on now! I'm doing #noBuyJuly15 so I'm not shopping this time around, but thought I'd share the sale with you - in case you haven't already read about it on every other blog ;)
Starting now and until July 9th, early access has started for Nordstrom cardholders. It then opens up to the public from July l7th, but it only lasts until 2nd August! If you are not a card holder, you can still browse the sale and get your wishlist together, although you can't buy anything until it's open to the public on the 17th. I'll be sure to post about it again then so you can buy something.
What I wore:
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs Stargazer scarf in aquamarine (on sale in black and white!!)
Top: Atmos&Here 3/4 sleeve stripe tee in berry white
Jeans: Jeanswest Bindi skinny 7/8 jeans in indigo luxe
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs waxed leather cream howlite beaded wrap bracelet
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey
Why I wore it:
Wore this out to playgroup some time ago - this was actually when I left my scarf behind! The photos got accidentally hidden away on my computer, so I'm quickly posting them now before I lose them again. Having posts scheduled in advance means I don't have to copy the outfit photos from my camera as much as I did pre-baby, when I was blogging what I wore that day and the day before. It means I can accidentally miss pictures when I'm trying to pull a blog post together though, as they can sit there for a few days and get hidden in all the baby and puppy pictures I take as well!Had been wanting to wear this red striped top for a while, and I thought the printed scarf was nice against it for a slight bit of print mixing. Converse were comfortable and practical for running around the playground with baby too.
Last worn: galaxy print scarf, striped top, skinny jeans, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.
Other ways to wear: colourful galaxy print scarf with a monochrome outfit, striped tee in the third trimester, skinny jeans in autumn for a day at home, Converse and denim shorts, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag with maxi dresses.
What I wore:
Scarf: Alexander McQueen red skull-print modal and cashmere-blend scarf
Knit: Warehouse grey bead front jumper
Jeans: Jeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (new purchase)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC (on sale here!)
Why I wore it:
This felt like a slightly more dressed up than usual day care drop off/pick up / work from home outfit. I think it's the red scarf with the neutral outfit. I tend to view scarves as accessories that help make something look more pulled together. A cosy and comfortable outfit too.As I was sitting at the computer working most of the day with just a little bit of driving around with baby T, I thought it would be a great time to break in my new shoes. I mentioned when I got them that I'd bought them as replacements for an old pair of black ballet flats I had. The old ones just didn't seem to be as comfortable post-pregnancy as they were before it. Maybe I stretched them out too much in pregnancy with my swollen feet, haha. I'm getting much tougher on my shoes and I only want to keep ones that are comfortable for an entire day with baby and all the running around that requires. I think these new ones will be perfect.
The only thing that wasn't ideal about this outfit was the black jeans - we had a tradie round to do some work in the morning and it was a bit dusty, black pants were not the best pick. Probably just not the best day to have the tradie over at all actually, he seemed to have a fondness for using power tools whenever I was trying to speak on a conference call!
Last worn: beaded jumper, skinny jeans, red skull scarf, silver mini MAC bag. First time I've worn the shoes as they are a new purchase.
Other ways to wear: embellished jumper with a jacquard skirt, skinny jeans and a sleeveless top, Alexander McQueen skull scarf in summer, mini MAC with a maxi dress.

Be strong, Mica! We'll get through this! (I am NOT clicking that sale link, I'm not, I'm not) I was explaining No Buy July to a workmate today and she just gave me a LOOK and said "Why are you doing it now when all the sales are on?" WHY INDEED??
ReplyDeleteIn other news, that beaded jumper is super cute.
I think your workmate has the right idea! I thought it would be clever to avoid the sales but didn't realise just how difficult it would be avoiding so many. They are everywhere!
DeleteLove your top in the second outfit. Both of these outfit are great casual outfits.

First look is so cute I love stripes :) I just love your pairings with the scarves :D

You have the best scarf collection, I love it! That first look is something I find myself wearing some form of constantly - stripes, jeans, scarf, sneakers. It never fails!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great go-to outfit for cooler weather! :)
DeleteI adore the scarf of your first look! Both looks are so nice!! :)
ReplyDeleteFlorals&Smiles
I love stripes, and adore that red top, as well as the metallic bag. My sister just sent me a few things from Nordstrom for an early bday gift... So excited. <3

What a sweet sister! Hope you have a happy birthday when it arrives :)
DeleteI have been avoiding clicking on the Nordstrom sale link… so far so good :)
ReplyDeleteI like the red striped top with that printed scarf, and of course the RM bag - which I always confuse with a Chanel-.
It is very Chanel inspired! Sadly another Chanel is out of my budget right now haha! You are doing good avoiding the sale! I am trying to avoid it also, for #noBuyJuly15
DeleteLove that red striped top. I have a thing for anything stripes haha

I soooo want to click on that sale and I know every part of me will regret it. haha. You can never go wrong with a striped top. One of my go to weekend looks. I totally now what you mean about black jeans. Seems like every time I wear mine I brush against the car or something dusty and I'm covered in dust.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend Mica! (:
haha I know what I mean! I'm trying to resist the sales too!
DeleteThere's a new NARS palette I'm trying to resist. LOL It's not on sale, just being released early through the Nordstrom Sale. I think I'll skip it because it's nothing extraordinary. I'm putting a list of things I want for Sephora's November sale. LOL You have the best skinny jean collection Mica. Love that striped top you paired with your jeans above. That silver and black is always a pretty color combination.

That's a good plan Kim, to have another sale in mind to help stop you spending unnecessarily in this one! :)
Deleteyou are glowing- motherhood suits you so much! Love your grey Marc Jacobs bag too. Yes skinny jeans that are comfy and cosy are made for mommies with all the bending and running around we do :)
ReplyDeletehaha thank you Cecylia! I have really been enjoying my jeans lately, like you said perfect for days with baby!
DeleteYour philosophy about scarves is the same as mine. They just add a nice finishing touch to an outfit--a pop of color too like your red pair. I have def heard of the Nordstrom sale and already put in an order. Although I was very good. I did order yet another pair of Born booties because I'm determined to find a flat pair that comfortable enough to walk in all day on cooler days where I don't want to have to wear full boots. That and 4 bras! There are only two bras that come in my weird size and they sell at Nordstrom. They were both on sale for $20 off each so I decided to restock! I'll probably return one of the nude ones, I'm just comparing the two.
ReplyDeleteYou did well only getting the essentials in the sale! I always start looking at accessories and before I know it I have a cart full of things I didn't know I needed until I looked at the sale, haha!
DeleteThat striped red/white shirt is perfect for a comfortable day out running errands.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with Favorite Fashion Friday!

You can't go wrong with the jeans and converse combo! Looks fab. I've been eying off that Rebecca Minkoff bag for 2 years now! And it's on sale! Ahh, holding myself back as I just bought a new camera! But it's oh so pretty! Xx
ReplyDeleteIt is a great bag! I highly recommend it - maybe a little later if your budget has been stretched by the camera! :) They are frequently on sale.
DeleteThose purse options are so beautiful! I just want them all!

No buy July. Well I broke that one right o the first day of July and every day since. I've been on a bit of spree lately and while I'm bringing in the new I'm tossing out the old and unworn. I need to take a bit of a breath I think, my spending has gotten a little crazy while I search for an uber cool leather jacket. I keep finding everything but it.

DeleteJune was my shopping spree month - I went a little crazy so a break is much needed!
If you can get through No Buy July in sale season, you can get through anything! I am in the UK and the sales are ah-mazing so obviously I can't buy into No Buy July! You always look stylish whatever you wear! I love all these looks but the red stripy top is my favourite! x

I adore skinny jeans! As always, two lovely stylings and photos. Your scarf collection is beyond amazing (just like the handbags). :) T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYour handbag collection is so big, and once again you proved how awesome it is - I love both of the bags! And the outfits look so nice too, they really suit you.
ReplyDeleteI really like the color combination of the second outfit. The grey of the jumper works extremely well with the red of the scarf. The beads give the whole thing a fancy touch. Plus I love the silver bag!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
