Jacket: Asos Black by Markus Lupfer printed leather jacket
Necklace: sterling silver monogram necklace C/O MyNameNecklace.com.au
Top: Glassons plain black long sleeve top
Skirt: French Connection green and black printed skirt
Shoes: NineWest Lovelyou studded flats in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Indigo Rose Design labradorite bracelet
Bag: Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with GSH
It's been almost a year since I last wore this skirt, which is interesting. I've had it a few years, and it used to be one of my heavy rotation work skirts. I've moved more towards pencil skirts now which is why I think it isn't worn as much. Although it's beautiful and gets compliments when I wear it, it's neglected in my wardrobe. Noticed it during my last wardrobe clearout and moved it to the front so it was more visible, hoping I'd pick it up more often. Hasn't really worked if it's been so long since the last wearing!
Should make more of an effort to wear it. Although maybe not like this again - with the printed skirt and jacket and studded shoes it was maybe a bit much. What do you think?
Last worn: Markus Lupfer jacket, Glassons black long sleeve tee, pleated print skirt, studded flats, Balenciaga part time bag.

Here's what I wore to work today:
Jacket: Warehouse cropped zip detail jacket
Scarf: Alexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarf
Necklace: gift from DH
Top: Glassons black and white stripe longsleeve top
Skirt: Cotton On 'Mica' mesh spot skirt in dusty pink
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs Logo Plaque Flats in Two Tone blush and black
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo in blush pink with silver hardware
Wore this jacket, skirt and shoes together the last time I wore the skirt, but it was such a lovely combination I enjoyed wearing it again. Was inspired to wear my MbMJ Hillier hobo bag after I spotted a lady in the post office wearing a brown one yesterday. And of course the blush pink is perfect with the shoes and skirt. :)
The scarf was a late edition as it was so cold this morning I couldn't bear going without it! Left my hair wavy and natural as I knew any attempts to straighten it would be invalidated by the rain, haha!

Final sale reductions at Matches Fashion today! I've updated the sales page.
Last worn: Warehouse Blazer, skull scarf, Glassons striped top, polka dot pencil skirt, two tone flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Hillier Hobo.

New Post! >> NOTD: Green Fields...
I don't think the first outfit is too much. The black top and tights grounds the entire look...I think it's great! Love the jacket and bag!

I don't think the first look is too much at all - I like it! And I'm dying over your handbags. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :) Also yes, I have a bit of a handbag obsession! :P
DeleteMica, you should definitely wear that skirt more often. It's gorgeous girl! tsk tsk. hahahaha I love the polka dot skirt too! Love that leather jacket in the 1st photo and the zipper details of the second one. Really cool pieces you have!

Hello lovely Mica!
ReplyDeleteI think your wavy hair is so pretty...(I have wavy/curly hair, and it has taken me many years to finally like and appreciate it ;))
The top outfit is great..I actually think that you put the textures and prints beautifully together...
And the blush! Another one of my favorite colors...LOVE!! :)
Stay warm, sweet friend!
xoxo,
- Irina
Thank you Irina! :) I always wanted really curly hair, but wavy is as close as I'll get :)
DeleteLove all that pink!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the material of the green skirt? Is it heavy? If it isn't, I reckon you can give it a go during the warmer months as well with a simple graphic t in either white or light grey. Switch your shoes to a pair of gladiator sandals or summer flats and this look should work too <3
ReplyDeleteIt is really light - it can get caught in a breeze so that's why I don't wear it much in summer, haha. Always feels a little safer with tights underneath. But I'll try this when it warms up, thank you :)
DeleteYou look gorgeous in that polka dot skirt. I want it! And I love the pink Hillier too - I have it in petrol blue and it's such a great bag.

I really love the print of that skirt, and I actually think it looks great the way you styled it. The print on the jacket is pretty subtle so I think you still have a good balance. Both looks are lovely Mica!

Thank you Theresa! I wasn't sure after looking at the photo, but there is enough black to kinda anchor it.
DeleteVery cute skirt!

Amazing the difference a bit of pink and a pencil skirt can make, haha!
DeleteLove both outfits! I am like you, always reaching more for my pencil skirts and I need to remind myself to change it up a bit.

Thanks Tara! Good to know that it looked okay :)
DeleteI love that you have posted two completely different looks. I definitely don't think you have mixed too much with the first look because even with different textures and prints, you have kept it to only two colors.
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying the soft colors of the second look. What is behind the "Mica" skirt? Where is it from?
xoxo, Teodora
It's from an Australian store called "Cotton On", I bought it last year after I saw it in a magazine and saw it shared my name. It was meant to be :P haha.
DeleteThat second outfit is absolutely amazing! such a great mix of patterns!

Thanks! It's winter here in Australia, so very cold!
DeleteBoth skirts are stunning! Love how your skirt is called Mica. I saw shoes with my name in wittner once but they were totally not my style. I adore the pink bag too.
ReplyDeleteHehe, yes I'm lucky it was a style of skirt I would wear :) Hopefully you find another pair of shoes that share your name and are more your style :)
DeleteI really like your work outfit. And i'm a huge hater of pink!!! But it look perfect with blue and with the mix of dots and stripes..oh god, i just can't help to like it. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI love the first skirt, the pattern is great. I also like how you paired the polka dot skirt with stripes and your shoes are so perfect for it!!

Love you black bag from Balenciaga and love your polkadots skirt <3

i love the leather jacket styled like this actually - and how gorgeous is that blush hillier!
ReplyDeletesteph / absolutely-fuzzy.com
the hillier is much too narrow for me and I need to use two hands to find anything in it, but it is such a gorgeous bag. I can't part with it, haha.
DeleteYou look great in both look, I love dot & stripes combo.

haha, I do have a few! :P
DeleteIsn't it funny the way clothes go through rotation like that. I love 'finding' an old favourite and putting it on rotation again. Although I sooooo love you in pencil skirts. I have some serious envy because of that pink polka dot skirt- it's amazing!! Xx
ReplyDeleteIt is a great skirt, I'm glad I bought it, it's lasted well :)
DeleteAnd yes it's fun to re-wear old favourites over again, funny how they just fall out of rotation!
Thank you all for your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteOh Mica, I can totally relate to having one year pass and having a garment, like your skirt remain unworn.
ReplyDeleteI think it's one of the reasons I always editing... i feel it's a shame to have something hanging there and not making the most of it...
Then again, the blog helps keep track so I can get that item back in rotation!
There is something girly-rocker about this look that really works well.
hehe yes I love how I can look at the blog to find out when I last wore something! :)
