August Purchases

After not buying anything for #NoBuyJuly16 I didn't buy as much as I thought I would in August. I picked up the dress I'd had my eye on in July after it went on sale again, and another wrap top from Atmos&Here. With the 30% off at Jeanswest for rewards card members I filled up my cart, but never bought anything in the end. With the official start of spring later this week I thought it best to wait and see what I end up wearing a lot of and where any wardrobe gaps are before I buy any more clothes.

What I bought in August:

How I wore my purchases:

Continuing with my goal of wearing things twice in a month after buying them, I've worn both things twice. Since I only bought two things this month, it was really easy to wear them both. I think they are pieces that will get a lot more wear as the weather heats up and we move into spring. I would have liked to have found a replacement for my black maxi skirt since I returned the midi skirt but after the hassle and cost of hemming the last skirt I bought I'm happy to wait a little longer until I can get the right one for my short self. Or until I find another local tailor!

As well as making sure I can think of two ways to wear things immediately before I buy, I'm starting to add things to my cart and then come back another day to buy them only if I've still been thinking about it. Not sure how I'll carry on with this pattern when I'm back to shopping in stores, right now with two boys under 3 online shopping is my main way to shop. It seems to be working to slow my spending for the moment.

I will be attempting #noSpenderSeptember next month and seeing if I can replicate July's no buy month in September too! I got the idea from Beth at Almost Posh. Wish me luck!

  4. I love when I'm able to fill out my cart with stuff and then never actually make the purchase. It gets the shopping bug out but saves my wallet, haha! Doesn't always work out that way though

  8. I think I stopped following my purchases back in June? Ooops..... that's totally on the to-do list. Honestly I didn't buy anything the entire month of July, so really I sort of did an accidental no buy July, right? (; You've always know how to make the most of your purchases!

  15. I used to buy clothes all the time and then never wear them! I try and go for a similar approach now, I take a look at things instore and if I'm still sure on them after a while then I buy them online. I'm sure it's going to help me stop with the spontaneous purchases :)

  17. Loving your purchases! Also, that is a really smart way to go on about what you buy... I tend to impulse buy a lot (mostly makeup), although I like your idea of only purchasing something if you still want it after a day or two. :) Thanks for sharing! <3

Your purchases show exactly that, they're items that are gorgeous, versatile and stylish. Good luck with the new September challenge dear!!

  29. The dress and wrap top are gorgeous Mica, and I love the way you've styled them to create two very different looks with each item. You look stunning! Well done for sticking to your aims and avoiding impulse buys! I've been doing something similar over the past three months, and have also been listing items on Ebay, so I can sell the things I never wore or which were nearly new. By selling some of my unused items, I'll hopefully be able to put some cash towards new things for autumn!

Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog.

  30. Congrats on managing to buy only two things this month and for wearing them. We should all try to bring a little suistainable fashion in our lives by wearing the clothes we have often and avoiding shopping. Shopping our closets can be a lot of fun once we get used to it. It is great you wore your items twice this month. I didn't stop buying clothes officially, but I will probably move into a new house by the end of a year and that made me revaluate my closet...I don't think I bought anything this August! I'm sure I bought some things last July (one yellow dress and one black sandals) and one skirt in June but I'm pretty sure I didn't buy anything this month (clothes related) so good for me!

That shirt dress you bough is gorgeous, loved both ways you styled it. With that leather jacket it looks rock chic, but I also like how it looks with that long cardi. The same goes for that top, it is really lovely.

  34. I'm loving the way you've styled your wrap top, it's such a lovely, figure flattering style and convenient for breast feeding too, like you mentioned in the video! I'm sorry that skirt didn't work for you, this style can be a bit tricky, not the easiest of styles to work with. Nonetheless, 2 of 3 worked and you wear them so well! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!
