Blazers, Midi Skirts and Mimco Bags

Breaking out the blazers and midi skirts for slightly cooler office days in Brisbane, just before Christmas.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted Jeanswest cobalt blue blazer
Earrings: candy cane hoop
Necklace: rose gold and turquoise beaded necklace
Tee: grey marle pocket tee
Skirt: Kmart breeze green broderie anglaise midi skirt
Shoesthrifted white leather Chuck Taylor All Star Converse sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
BagMIMCO Mim-Mazing crossbody bag in black and light gold

Why I wore it:

I love wearing this green broderie midi skirt in December, it feels like it's been on frequent repeat lately! I really liked the bright green with the cobalt blazer, it's such a nice mix of green and blue. Added the neutral grey marle tee with the bold colours, and plain white Converse and black Mimco crossbody bag for more neutrals. I wasn't sure on a necklace for this outfit so I went with the turquoise one as a mix of blue and green, but looking at the photos after I do think the navy beaded necklace I also considered may have been better.

It was a quite relaxed day in the office as we had a colleague's family come visit us for a bit in a gap between meetings which was lovely.

Last worn: cobalt blazer, turquoise beaded necklace, grey marle tee, green broderie skirt, white Converse, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag.

Other ways to wearcobalt blazer and dress, grey marle tee and mini skirt, green broderie skirt in Christmas outfit, white Converse and denim, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag and jeans.

What I wore:

Jacketthrifted Zara black blazer
Earrings: candy cane hoop earrings
Necklace: thrifted blue tone flat bead statement necklace
Tank: Kmart teal tank
Skirt: thrifted ruffle hem leopard print midi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagMIMCO vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

This was a slightly wetter day, still as cool as the one above though so a blazer was a good layer to add to this outfit. I needed the blazer over the singlet in the office as well to cover up my shoulders in this tank for meetings, but it was appreciated on the cooler morning commute as well.

Just like in the outfit above, I liked the marle top with the midi skirt. This leopard print one is an opshop fave. The blazer is an opshop find also, as is the beaded statement necklace. With the black blazer matching the black Converse, and the black in the leopard print of the skirt, this was a nice matchy-matchy outfit. I'd thought that the teal marle singlet would be a good match with the Mimco cocoon bag, but decided to wear them anyway when I put the bag on and realised it wasn't as close a match with the teal tank as I'd have liked. I still thought they looked good together.

Pink Kmart Dresses and Teal Mimco Bucket Bag

Trying a colour combination I haven't worn before, with my teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag and some pink Kmart dresses. I ended up liking this pairing so much that I had to repeat it again another day!

What I wore:

Earrings: opal reindeer stud earrings
Necklace: silver twisted chain necklace
Dressthrifted Kmart short sleeve godet skirt linen blend dress in fuchsia
Belt: came with dress
Shoes: Kmart sparkly silver glitter sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
BagMIMCO vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

On such a hot day I knew this linen dress would be perfect. It's a firm favourite of mine, especially in the warmer months in Brisbane. And while it sold out in store and I missed out on it, I snapped it up at the opshop for just $1, so I am always happy when people compliment it and I get to share the bargain find!

With the teal bag against the bright fuchsia pink dress I kept the rest of the accessories neutral and silver - although they still make a statement with the long twist chain necklace and the very fun silver glitter sneakers, which I haven't worn for a while but have been reaching for more lately.

Nice easy outfit for the school run, a day in the office, and then attending an awards ceremony for the kids in the afternoon.

Last worn: opal earrings, silver twist chain necklace, fuchsia pink linen dress, glitter sneakers, Mimco teal cocoon bucket bag.

Other ways to wearfuchsia pink linen dress and blazer, glitter sneakers and shorts, Mimco teal cocoon bucket bag and navy dress.

What I wore:

Necklace: Colette tortoise shell acrylic disc tassel necklace
Dress: Kmart short sleeve tiered jersey dress in Fuchsia
ShoesAdidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
BagMIMCO vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

Another office day, another reason to try the pink and teal combination. I think trying a new colour combination with accessories like a bag is a great idea, because most of the time in the office the bag just sits on my desk, so if I don't like it as much I don't have to wear it all day. But I really did like this unexpected combination.

I added a little more interest with the tortoise shell print tassel necklace, but kept the rest of my outfit simple just like in the outfit above, with another pair of sneakers. So comfortable for the commute, and running around between different meeting rooms on different floors of the office.

This Kmart fuchsia tiered midi dress is also one of my favourites, although as a full price buy it's not quite the bargain the dress above was. I'm getting the cost per wear down on it though, always surprised I haven't hit 30 wears with it yet as I feel I reach for it a lot, it works for both office days and casual days.

Last worn: tassel necklace, fuchsia pink tiered dress, Adidas Superstar sneakers, teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag (above).

Other ways to wearfuchsia pink tiered dress and denim jacket, Adidas Superstar sneakers and jeans, teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag and skirt.

What I Bought In 2024, And Wardrobe Goals For 2025

Continuing on with my blog tradition I started 8 years ago, and kicking off the new year by looking back on what I've bought this year, as well as how much I've worn it. Looking at if I've stuck to my fashion budget and setting my fashion shopping / wardrobe goals are for 2025.

What I Bought in 2024 (And How Often I've Worn It)

In what is becoming a trend, just like the previous few years, most of the additions to my wardrobe this year have been preloved. Only 2 of the 27 things I've purchased were bought new in retail stores. I'm trying to buy preloved first so this is a great result.

I focused mostly on accessories in my opshopping trips, not feeling the need to add too much clothing to my wardrobe this year as I'm enjoying rewearing the pieces I already own for the most part.

Accessories:

  • thrifted Colette gold metal flower stud statement earrings - 4 wears
  • thrifted cream resin bangle duo set - 4 wears
  • thrifted Vinnies green glitter resin bangle - 2 wears
  • thrifted Vinnies blue and natural wooden bead bracelet stack - 2 wears
  • thrifted burgundy and cream beaded statement necklace - 6 wears
  • thrifted Belle Folie multi colour tassel necklace - 8 wears
  • thrifted mint silicone statement necklace - 4 wears
  • thrifted bronze foil statement necklace - 8 wears
  • thrifted neutral silicone and wood bead necklace - 5 wears
  • thrifted blue tone flat bead statement necklace - 8 wears

Shoes:

Handbags:

Clothing:

  • thrifted &Me blue linen button up midi skirt with pockets - 5 wears
  • thrifted Kmart black and white boho print maxi skirt - 3 wears
  • thrifted NWT Beginning Boutique Sahara red-orange maxi skirt - 5 wears
  • thrifted Salvos Nobody Denim grey distressed denim skirt - 2 wears
  • thrifted Cotton On The One crew tee in green - 7 wears
  • Just Jeans metallic gold linen tee - 4 wears
  • thrifted blue checked babydoll sundress - 3 wears
  • thrifted Jeanswest cobalt blue blazer - 8 wears
  • thrifted purple and red Paisley print duster - 3 wears

No surprise that my most worn item this year was the white Converse shoes I found at the opshop! Converse are my shoe of choice for everything from school run to working in the office. Although I do swap over to mostly sandals in summer, I still wear sneakers often and these Converse being white go with everything. Definitely got my money's worth for these, and they have a lot of wear left!

The pink Zara frayed hem jeans were my most worn item of clothing that I bought this year, at 11 wears. That has a lot to do with the perfect timing of finding them at the opshop 50% off sale day in the middle of autumn, when the weather was perfect to wear them over the colder months on frequent repeat!

Sticking To My Fashion Budget:

2024 is not my lowest purchase year as I only added 18 things to my wardrobe back in 2023, and I bought 27 items this year but it's my lowest spend year since I've been tracking on the blog, at $199. A large part of that is due to the credit card rewards I used for the Mimco Mim-Mazing bag purchase, otherwise the total would have been $399. Still my lowest spend year since I started tracking on the blog in 2016 even if you include the full cost of the bag.

Once again getting an under $1,000 spend on fashion was easy this year, as the majority of things I bought were thrifted or preloved. Second hand shopping is much kinder to the budget than constantly buying new. Better for the environment too.

I am really happy with everything I have in my wardrobe at the moment and can't think of any gaps I need to fill in 2025. Plus I got a lot of wardrobe additions as Christmas presents I'm looking forward to wearing with thins I already own. So my goals for the upcoming year, will again be similar to the previous years. Buy less and buy preloved!

Green And Leopard Print Skirt Outfits With Mimco Bags

I like to repeat outfit formulas when I've enjoyed wearing them. Green and leopard is a combination I tried and liked so much I had to wear it twice! In both of these outfits I've accessorised with Mimco bags too.

What I wore:

Earrings: Avocado Santa hat earrings
Necklace: thrifted Belle Folie multi colour tassel necklace
Tee: thrifted Cotton On The one crew tee in green
Skirt: Target animal print ruffle hem mini skirt
Shoes: thrifted Seed Heritage tan braided sandals
Bracelets: the usual
BagMimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

We had a video call this afternoon while I was working from home that was a themed event so I knew this outfit would be perfect for it! Surprisingly I haven't tried wearing green with this leopard print skirt before, it's such a nice combination! I added a little more colour with the fun tassel necklace, but went a little matchy-matchy with the green avocado Santa hat earrings matching the green of the tee, even though they are slightly different shades.

I picked the braided sandals to match the brown in the print of the skirt too, and although the teal Mimco Cocoon bag doesn't match anything in the outfit, I really liked it against the green tee. This bag has been getting a lot of love recently since I scored it on eBay.

Last worn: avocado earrings, green tee, tassel necklace, leopard print skirt, braided sandals, Mimco teal cocoon bucket bag.

Other ways to weargreen tee and midi skirt, leopard print skirt and leather jacket, braided sandals and dress, Mimco teal cocoon bucket bag and pencil skirt.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted no label leopard print cover up with waist tie
Earrings: candy cane hoop earrings
Necklace: thrifted mint silicone statement necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Emerald green
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
Shoes: thrifted Anko Kmart black strappy sandals
Bracelets: the usual
BagMIMCO Mim-Mazing crossbody bag in black and light gold

Why I wore it:

Another day with the school run and working from home, and another green and leopard print outfit. This time I wore a leopard print cover up over a green tank and black denim skirt. I felt even when working from home that the green tank was a bit casual for having my video on in some meetings, the leopard print cover up dressed it up a little bit more, and covered up my shoulders for physical sunblock on the school run too.

With the black denim skirt, the black strappy sandals and the black Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag seemed like obvious accessories. I added a little more green to this outfit too with the mint beads in the silicone necklace.

Last worn: leopard cover up, silicone necklace, green tank, black denim skirt, strappy sandals, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag. First time I've worn the earrings, a Christmas gift last year.

Other ways to wearleopard cover up and shorts, green tank and jeans, black denim skirt with orange, strappy sandals and shorts, Mimco Mim-Mazing crossbody bag and blazer.

Perfect for pregnancy: green tank at 39 weeks.

Colourful Tees Black and White Maxi Skirts

Adding some colour to two different black and white printed maxi skirts with these simple tees. I've been reaching for maxi skirts quite often lately when the summer days are not too hot and humid.

What I wore:

Earrings: mini glitter gingerbread earrings
Necklace: thrifted neutral silicone and wood bead necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in azalea pink
Skirt: thrifted Kmart black and white boho print maxi skirt
Shoes: thrifted Seed Heritage tan braided sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Marc by Marc Jacobs enamel turnlock stripey hinge black and white bangle and Hermes pink clic clac
Bag:  Chloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

I struggled a bit for what to wear on this day! I was working from home, but we had a themed event I'd be joining via video call so I wanted to be comfortable but also wearing something pink to meet the theme. After work I wanted to be a bit covered up for sports in the evening to provide a physical barrier against the mozzies. Ended up settling on this bright pink tee with the black and white maxi skirt. I love plain block colour tees like this as they go with all the prints in my wardrobe!

With the school run, working from home and sports in the evening, I didn't need to carry much and certainly not as much as this large bag can hold. I  still wore my Chloe Marcie bag though as it's been a while since I've worn it and it was overdue a wear.

Last worn: gingerbread man earrings, pink tee, wood and silicone necklace, black printed maxi skirt, braided sandals, Chloe Marcie bag.

Other ways to wearpink tee and shorts, black printed maxi skirt in neutral outfit, braided sandals and dress, Chloe Marcie bag and jeans.

What I wore:

Earrings: gold gingerbread house earrings
Necklace: terrazzo and wood rose gold bead necklace
Tee: thrifted Target crew neck tee coral red
Skirt: thrifted SES Fashions vertical stripe maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagMimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

This was a subtle way to try red and green. very subtle with the teal Mimco crossbody bag and the pale coral tee. I felt it was a nice themed combination along with the little gingerbread house earrings! I've been enjoying wearing all my Christmas themed earrings this year. Both the coral tee and the vertical striped maxi skirt, like the necklace, are all opshop finds. I really like this skirt as it's nice and light for a warm day - it was perfect as the kids had a sport event on and the rain had cleared up turning it into a very humid day.

Wore my comfortable black Converse as I had a bit of driving to do, to and from the kids event, and needed to support my knee.

Last worn: gingerbread house earrings, coral tee, terrazzo necklace, vertical stripe maxi skirt, black Converse, teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag.

Other ways to wearcoral tee and shorts, vertical stripe maxi skirt and denim jacket, black Converse and jeans, teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag and blazer.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

Printed Dresses, Bright Blazers and Mimco Teal Cocoon Bucket Bag

Wearing two pretty floral print dresses that I tried to make a little more formal for office days by adding bright blazers on top.

What I wore:

Jacket: Glassons orange jersey blazer
Necklace: Tiffany & Co silver 5th Avenue notes heart pendant necklace
DressJaase Celine autumn leaves mini dress
Shoesthrifted white leather Chuck Taylor All Star Converse sneakers
BagMimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

I've worn this Jaase Celine dress into the office before. It's my go-to dress for special events, but I think with a blazer it looks a little more formal for a day at work. We had a lunch event on so I ended up taking the blazer off, the long sleeves on this dress kept me warm enough.

I really liked the orange blazer with the autumn leaves print on the dress, it was a great combination. I added the teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag as I've been loving wearing it lately, even though it doesn't match any of the colours in this print I liked the teal with the orange blazer and navy dress. The orange blazer just pops with everything I've worn it with.

Last worn: Tiffany necklace, orange blazer, Jaase Celine autumn leaves dress, white Converse, Mimco cocoon bucket bag.

Other ways to wearorange blazer and jeans, Jaase Celine autumn leaves dress and leather jacket, white Converse and skirt, Mimco cocoon bucket bag with pink.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted Jeanswest cobalt blue blazer
Earrings: gold Christmas present bow hoops
NecklaceSilhoupette gold plated Shih Tzu necklace
Dress: Boho Luxe floral print maxi dress (from my sister's wardrobe)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual
BagMimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

My sister recently brought over a bunch of pieces she didn't want any more, and when I saw this dress I knew I had to have it! I always love a maxi dress. Wore it for another wet but humid day, again as I did with the dress above by adding the blazer to make it a little more office appropriate.

There were a few of us in the office on this day and we smiled when we realised most of us were wearing maxi dresses - I love unexpected coordinating like that! It was a day full of meetings so I kept the blazer on as we rushed between meeting rooms, but at least I was colourful and comfortable. The teal Mimco bag was a good match to the blues and turquoises in the print of the dress too I thought.

Last worn: gold silhouette necklace, cobalt blazer, blue Converse, Mimco cocoon bag (above). First time I've worn this dress as it's from my sister's wardrobe, and first time I've worn the earrings as they were a gift last Christmas.

Other ways to wearcobalt blazer and jeans, blue Converse and shorts, Mimco cocoon bag and skirt.

Green and Blue Tee and Midi Skirt Outfits With Mimco Teal Bag

Wearing some midi skirts into the office with blue tees and my little teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag. I like the teal bag with these green and blue outfits, despite the different shades in both.

What I wore:

Earrings: Avocado Santa hat earrings
Necklace: thrifted flat navy statement bead necklace
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in washed poolside blue
Skirt: Kmart breeze green broderie anglaise midi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual plus jade bracelet
BagMimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

This pale blue tee feels a littler more casual than a darker navy one, so I did consider adding a blazer to this. Despite the overcast start to the day it was still very humid though, so I decided not to add the extra layer. It was a quiet day in the office anyway.

I did like the paler blue tee against the bright green of the broderie skirt though. I often wear this skirt with blue tones. The blue Converse were a good match with the tee as well, although not exactly the same shade, they are very similar. I added a little more green with the jade bracelet as well. Wore a neutral navy statement necklace to try dress this up slightly for the office, and then my Mimco cocoon bucket bag that's been a real staple lately.

Last worn: pastel blue tee, navy beaded necklace, green broderie midi skirt, blue Converse, Mimco teal cocoon bucket bag. First time I've worn the earrings as they were a gift.

Other ways to wearpastel blue tee and shorts, green broderie midi skirt and Christmas tee, blue Converse and dress, Mimco teal cocoon bucket bag and pencil skirt.

What I wore:

Earrings: DIY green clay Christmas tree earrings
NecklaceStarfish Project Hannah turquoise bead necklace
Tee: Jeanswest Sophie navy v-neck tee
Skirt: thrifted &Me blue linen button up midi skirt with pockets
Shoesthrifted white leather Chuck Taylor All Star Converse sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
BagMimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal

Why I wore it:

Again with the green and a lighter blue! This time around I wore this blue linen midi skirt, with a navy v-neck tee and my green beaded statement necklace for an extra pop of colour. I love wearing this green necklace with navy pieces in my wardrobe, I like the combination. And I really liked this linen midi skirt too. It does get creased up terribly easily, but it is also so light and perfect for a humid spring day. I like that it's also long enough to keep my legs covered up from the freezing aircon in the office.

Just like the midi skirt and tee outfit above, I wore my teal Mimco cocoon bucket bag with this outfit. I've been wearing it with almost everything lately, but I think the dark teal looks so good with blue.

Last worn: Christmas tree earrings, navy tee, green beaded necklace, linen midi skirt, white Converse, Mimco cocoon bag (above).

Other ways to wearnavy tee and jeans, linen midi skirt and printed tank, white Converse and dress, Mimco cocoon bag and blazer.

Navy Tees, Grey Pencil Skirts and Teal Bucket Bag

Wearing my new-to-me Mimco cocoon bucket bag in both these outfits. I scored it pre-loved on ebay as a treat for myself to celebrate something at work. I used to have a couple of these bags a long time ago and always missed having one in my wardrobe, so I am really enjoying having the style again! You will see it pop up a lot on the blog. The teal is a really nice shade that pairs so nicely with navy and grey, as I've worn it in both of these outfits.

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest Nadine 3/4 sleeve dusky pink blazer
Necklace: Kmart pink multi-colour beaded necklace
Tee: thrifted Marcs navy lurex detail foil tee
SkirtAtmos&Here grey marle jersey pencil skirt
Shoesthrifted white leather Chuck Taylor All Star Converse sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Mimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal (new purchase)

Why I wore it:

Even with the foil sparkle thread through this tee, the navy felt a little plain with the grey jersey pencil skirt, so I decided to dress this outfit up a bit and add more colour with the blush blazer. The blush pink is something I really like wearing with navy. I added the wooden beaded necklace for a little matchy-matchy. I wasn't sure about the teal Mimco cocoon bag against the pink but I really liked this combination, blush pink goes with so much.

This was a nice comfortable outfit for a quiet day in the office.

Last worn: blush blazer, pink wooden necklace, navy tee, grey jersey pencil skirt, white Converse. First time I've worn the bag as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearblush blazer and dress, navy tee and maxi skirt, grey jersey pencil skirt and printed tank, white Converse and jeans

Perfect for pregnancy: blush blazer in third trimestergrey jersey pencil skirt in third trimester.

Mimco Cocoon Bucket Bag Unboxing

What I wore:

Necklace: Kelly's Kloset rainbow layered necklace
Tee: Jeanswest Ruby frill sleeve Ric Rac detailed tee in deep iris
Skirt: Target textured silver pencil skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual
BagMimco vintage cocoon bucket bag in teal (new purchase)

Why I wore it:

This was a much more humid spring day, and with the statement necklace adding some colour to the navy tee and the textured pencil skirt looking a little more formal than the casual jersey one above, I skipped adding a blazer to this in the office. It also let me show off the cute frill detail on the sleeves of this tee.

Again I wore the teal Mimco cocoon bag, as in the outfit above I like it against navy and grey, and I felt it was a good accessory. Added the blue Converse for yet another shade of blue and because they are the best shoes for the commute to work and running up and down the stairs at the office between meeting rooms on different levels.

Last worn: navy frill sleeve tee, colourful beaded necklace, textured grey pencil skirt, blue Converse, Mimco teal cocoon bag (above).

Other ways to wearnavy frill sleeve tee and jeans, textured grey pencil skirt with green, blue Converse and dress.

What I Bought in 2023, and Fashion Resolutions For 2024

In what is becoming an annual blog tradition, kicking off another year of personal style blogging by looking back on what I bought last year and confirming if I stuck to my fashion budget.

What I Bought & How Often I've Worn It

What I bought in 2023 fashion budget and wardrobe goals style blogger awayfromblue

Just like last year, the majority of what I bought in 2023 was preloved. And unsurprisingly, after the year that was 2023, being somewhat of an emotional shopper, I find myself with a long list of purchases to share. I had a massive declutter and re-evaluation of my wardrobe that resulted in a lot of pieces leaving, as I searched for new pieces that fit into my lifestyle a bit better. I donated a lot and sold some things at local fashion markets too to make space for all these new buys. Last year I bought 18 things. This year, I added 54 things to my wardrobe. Mostly accessories, but still, a lot of shopping!

Of course, everything I bought has been worn at least twice. I set myself the goal of wearing everything I buy at least twice in the month I buy it, to make sure I'm buying things I'll actually wear and use and that work in my wardrobe. It's always interesting to look back on what I bought and see how much wear it actually all got over the year too.

Preloved Bags:

No surprises there that I focused a lot on accessories and cover ups when shopping! They are great final pieces to add to staple outfits to make them seem a little different each time.

I made the most of the special "fill a bag" sales and 50% off days at my local opshops to have a browse and quite often come away with a new purchase or two. And of course all the items I donated from my wardrobe resulted in a few more browses where I'd often pick up a necklace or accessory!

Of course I already hit over 30 wears with my thrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue. It is SUCH a good sized bag and being a neutral it goes with everything, so again, no surprise it was my most worn item of everything I bought this year. Definitely a go-to bag for me. One of the volunteers came up to me in the opshop the other day to say she remembered my excitement over my bag find when I stumbled across it and wanted to see if I'd found any other awesome finds since! I was able to share with her how much I still love and enjoy wearing the bag - even if I wasn't wearing it that day she spoke to me. Benefits of a personal style blog and a daily diary of outfit photos to look back on!

Sticking to My Fashion Budget:

The best thing is that my total spend comes up to $441, which shows that while I doubled what I bought last year, I was able to be well under budget by shopping preloved more often and searching for things second hand before buying new.

Fashion Resolutions For 2024

These fashion related goals for 2024 are very similar to last year, as I feel they worked well for me then too.

Continue to not buy any more hangers. When I set up my wardrobe room of my dreams, I replaced all my hangers with velvet ones. And I refuse to buy any more hangers. If something enters my wardrobe, something has to leave to make room. This has been working well for me so far.

Shop second hand more - there is already so much stuff in the world, I don't need to add to the demand for it by buying new when there are plenty preloved pieces out there to discover.

Buy less - this was my goal last year and I didn't meet it, buying a lot of items in 2023! But I'm hoping I can meet this goal this year as I'm very content with the state of my wardrobe at the moment.

Spend no more than $1,000 on fashion - something I've been able to do consistently the past few years, thanks to frequenting opshops rather than retail stores.

Start up my 30 wears series again - something that became tricky as I worked through my wardrobe this year and sold or donated older pieces. I'd love to hit 30 wears with more of my wardrobe this year though. I still think we should aim to wear everything we buy at least 30 times. It minimises the environmental impact that went into making clothes and it's better for the budget to rewear more often.

Have you set yourself any goals or resolutions for your spending on fashion in the year ahead?
