Have been wanting to try pink with this jacket since I bought it. While I was contemplating the purchase, I kept thinking if it would really work in my wardrobe. And of course I could see it with greys and blacks and cream...and then I remembered this pink top. Just had to give this a try, as I love pink and blue together. And my favourite jeans of course ;) Glad it's not too cold so I can wear a tank in the office and just a jacket over the top outdoors.
Today we have a family dinner tonight to celebrate our wedding anniversary, which was earlier this week. As it can be a little chilly in the evening, I went with a nice warm jumper and boots. Wanted to be a little more dressed up than jeans, so went with a maxi skirt.
DH and I went for a long walk today with Cooper, it was lovely. Was nice to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine for a while. Hope you had a lovely Sunday as well :)
I spent a little bit of time this weekend trying to figure out how to organise my wardrobe better. One of the things I noticed is that I have an entire clothes rack of dresses that only get worn in warmer weather. With the rainy cool day on Sunday I took the chance to try wear my maxi dress. I really liked it with the scarf and boots, what do you think?
My sister had a cleanout of her wardrobe recently - which is what inspired me to start organising my own! I inherited some new clothes from her, one of them was this really comfortable tee. Nice and casual outfit for working from home. :) I did iron these pieces, but after sitting at the computer all day it doesn't look like it, haha.
Life with two boys under 2 is busy and hectic, and a cross body bag means I've always got everything I need handy. I've been favouring my Rebecca Minkoff cross body bags lately. While I do have other cross body bags, the Rebecca Minkoff ones are small enough that they are easy to juggle with a baby bag, toddler, newborn and often a stroller.
I loved everything about this outfit! A rainy night and a cooler morning was the perfect chance to wear this grey cardi, and I really wanted to wear the red tank and bag together. Although I was just running a few errands, I was comfortable and happy in this all day.
The flowy tank is great for covering a postbaby belly and I was able to lift it up and still have plenty of coverage while breastfeeding in the afternoon when the in-laws came over.
This cardigan had been in the 'maybe donate' pile for a while, as it's been so long since I last wore it. It was last on the blog over 3 years ago! I've taken it to work a few times since then to keep cosy in the aircon but wasn't sure it was worth keeping, until loving it in this outfit. It will be staying in my wardrobe.
Since I liked the outfit combination above so much, I decided to try recreate it on another day with a different bag, tank and cardigan. I really didn't like this outfit as much though.
While the wool cardi was nice and cosy and I usually love wearing this tank, I felt it wasn't really working with my extra post-baby curves lifting it up and kept fussing with the hem of the tank trying to pull it down. A nice outfit in theory, but not so practical to wear.
I have been wearing my Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag so much since I bought it...while it might be a little repetitive seeing it pop up all the time, I haven't had a reason to swap it out for another one of my many handbags because I'm finding it really does go with everything.
Two different outfits below showing how easy it is to wear a red cross body bag.
Wore this to sit on the sidelines of toddler T's swimming lessons. Have to wait until my 6 week postpartum checkup before I can get the all clear to do any exercising other than walking and the exercises the physio gives you in hospital. I'm looking forward to getting back in the water though!
Thought the colourful floral print on this kimono would look nice with the red saddle bag. I really liked the combination. The kimono works nicely as a little nursing cover when breastfeeding too.
It's been such a long time since I've worn this skirt! It used to belong to my mum, one of the few vintage pieces of clothing I have in my wardrobe. Thought that they grey slogan tee would work nicely with it, in theory. I didn't really like the oversized top and voluminous pleated skirt when I wore it though, not my favourite outfit. I felt I was constantly tugging at this through the day - especially in the waiting room of the doctors trying to calm a cranky baby with everyone staring...
This jumper is one of my purchases from the Jeanswest 40% off sale back in May. It was a sunny but windy day so this was the perfect outfit. Thought the burgundy of the pants and the red of the clutch would go well together.
I had been considering buying this knit and then when I caught up with my sister she showed me she had bought it and told me how much she liked it. So I had to get my own when the sale came around, of course. My sister and I have very similar tastes!
Very similar outfit to yesterday's, really drawn to grey and red this weekend!
This is another one of my Church Online team tees, I've worn one previously. It's a little big on me, but makes it even more comfortable to wear! Every year they come up with a new design, I'm pleased to see my collection build with each year I spend on the team.
Apart from working in the evening, didn't do much today. Enjoyed the slightly warmer weather in the afternoon and made sure to spend lots of time with Cooper. He's healing really well, thank you for all your kind comments on my previous post.
Just a nice simple outfit to wear today in the heat. We went out when it started to shower a little to take advantage of the cooler weather. I also got to send off the last of my Christmas cards, the few I have left have to be handed out in person.
The sunnies were last worn here, dress here and bag here. This is the first time I've worn the thongs.
Just like last month, I managed to avoid the sales and stores most of the time. The continuing heatwaves meant playdates at home in the aircon and so there was no shopping temptations from meeting up in Westfield. Unsubscribing from emails from online stores has helped keep temptation at bay as well.
The biggest help in avoiding shopping has been the boys though! Their naps have gone from sometimes lining up to never lining up so it's extremely difficult to waste time online 'just browsing' shopping sites. That has been the major factor to make this month another easy month for avoiding shopping. I feel it's made me a bad blogger too as it's so hard to read other blogs but baby routines change so much, it's only temporary.
Two years ago I did a wardrobe inventory. I wanted to do one last year but never seemed to find the time. I'd like to make it an annual thing. In 2015, I had 101 accessories and 266 items of clothing.
Since then I have had many more declutter sessions, a wardrobe detox with a personal stylist and another pregnancy. I was interested to see how the count would have changed this year. The totals below doesn't include things like pieces I only wear for layering, pyjamas and loungewear.
My wardrobe had 367 items in 2015 so 294 is a step in the right direction! I do try to share my wardrobe edits on the blog when I've given something its last wear and it is leaving my wardrobe. Sometimes I never give pieces a final wear and I don't like them when I try them on or I remember I didn't like them last time I wore them and so I donate or sell them.
It's wonderful that I've managed to reduce the number of bags and scarves but I'm surprised I've increased the number of shoes I own! I'm disappointed I have so many dresses, after I got rid of a few at the end of the Frocktober challenge. It's good to see I've halved the number of grey tees though.
How Many Outfits?
Since I'm attempting the #30Wears challenge this year I thought it would be interesting to calculate how many outfits I'd have in my wardrobe if I tried to get 30 wears from everything. Keeping it simple as maths isn't my strong point, just looking at tops and dresses and not outfit combinations:
30 wears from 41 dresses is 1,230 outfits. Almost 3 and a half years of outfits.
30 wears from 97 tops is 2,910 outfits. Almost 8 years of outfits.
And I frequently think I have nothing to wear, wow...😮
If I was to just focus on getting 30 wears out of everything I currently own, I wouldn't need to buy any new clothes for around 11 years. Somehow 6 months without shopping seems like a very short time. You can be sure I'll be looking back at these numbers when I'm tempted to buy something, to help me stick to my no-shopping challenge for the next 4 months.
I really liked looking at how my wardrobe has changed in 2 years and if you enjoyed seeing it too I'll attempt another inventory next year. If you've done a similar count please leave a link to your post in the comments, I'd love to read it. Linking up with Fashion Files, Budgeting Bloggers, Fun Fashion, Fabulous Friday.
I took my camera along on my walk again but unfortunately I forgot to check how much battery it had left, so it died halfway through the walk. I did manage to get this photo of Cooper taking a rest in a shady spot though.
He's so cute :)
I've charged up my camera so hopefully I will be able to take some more scenic outfit pictures tomorrow.
I wore a purple singlet under the lace tank hoping that the colour would peek out, but you really can't see it very well. It was a nice idea, just didn't really work in practice!

Such a warm summery Saturday, a bright outfit was called for. This tank the brightest thing I own so it seemed fitting! Kept everything else really simple as the top doesn't need competition ;)

My sister kindly took these outfit pics as we walked Cooper together. I'm wearing maroon (or burgundy, very similar!) to support my state for the State of Origin match tonight ;) I don't watch the footy but most people wear a bit of maroon to support the Reds.

Shopbop.com are currently having a "big event" sale, and I'm very tempted by these shoes. I've been eyeing them for a while and now seems like a good time to buy.... Although I am trying to reduce the amount of shopping I do, the sale is making it difficult! haha!
I haven't bought anything yet. Have you grabbed something at Shopbop with the discount code "BIGEVENT"?
It was a warm weekend so wanted to wear a maxi skirt to keep my legs covered for the carols in the evening and yet stay cool during the day. The dress worked well, didn't get any bug bites on my legs as we sat and watched the carol service.
The sunnies were last worn here, shoes here and bag here. This is the first time I've worn this dress on the blog.
And here's what I wore for a relaxing Sunday and attending Church Online in the evening:
Sunnies: Pink leopard print sunglasses from Paddy's Markets in Sydney Bracelets: the usual trio Top: Just Jeans ribbed button detail singlet Shorts: Jeanswest denim cuff shorts Shoes: Cotton On thin strap thongs in black Bag: Chloe paddington cross body clutch
Close up of accessories and bag:
Today was so warm! Simple singlet and shorts combination again to keep cool, and casual outfit as we didn't have many places to go.
