What I wore:
Necklace: layered Tai gold alphabet necklaces
Knit: Jeanswest 'Serena' ombre knit
Skirt: thrifted Billabong 'Don't Think Of It' bikini red printed maxi skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
Bag: Chloe small Ethel bag in light khaki
Why I wore it:
This was a really foggy morning after a rainy evening the day before. We had a very small (due to Covid restrictions in place at the time) birthday party in the park to attend for my son's friend. Being by the bay I didn't want to be too cold if the clouds stuck around and there was a lot of breeze off the water, but I didn't want to overheat if the sun came out either. I figured the open knit of this ombre jumper was a good compromise. The sun came out just after we left the house though and it turned into a really warm day! I kinda regretted wearing the jumper!I thought the ombre would be an interesting pairing with the print on the maxi skirt too, the neutral knit balancing it out so it didn't look too bold. Changed my mind a couple times before going ahead, but in the end even if the knit was a little warm I'm glad I tried something a little different with this skirt!
The Chloe Ethel was perfectly sized for carrying everything I needed - it fits so much inside! I also had a big green bag though for the picnic blanket, jumpers for the boys in case it was cold (that they ended up not needing at all), and a book for me to read after the party while the kids played in the playground.
Last worn: gold heart earrings, ombre knit, initial necklaces, red printed maxi skirt, black Converse, Chloe Ethel.
Other ways to wear: ombre knit worn two ways, red printed maxi skirt worn 30 ways, black Converse and shorts, Chloe Ethel and jeans.
Perfect for pregnancy: ombre knit at 40 weeks, black Converse in second trimester.

What I wore:
Knit: thrifted Valleygirl blue knit jumper
Skirt: thrifted pinstripe maxi skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Edie small crossbody bag in magenta
Why I wore it:
Much like the day before this was a foggy start to the morning and it warmed up much more than I expected! Ended up taking my jumper off as I sat in the back garden while the little one played. It was a quiet day at home really. My eldest boy had an event on most of the day so I was grateful for the jumper in the cooler morning when I dropped him off, and in the afternoon when I picked him up.As I didn't have much to do or many places to be I wore my cute little Rebecca Minkoff Edie crossbody bag again - it's a good size for the essentials like phone, wallet, mask, keys and hand sanitiser. I really like the way it pops with the cobalt knit too!
This grey pinstripe maxi skirt is an incredibly comfortable one - I knew it was overdue a wear but I was shocked to see I hadn't worn it since 2020! Definitely needs to be worn more, I love the cut, so different from all my other maxi skirts. Like the cobalt knit, it was an opshop find too and another thrift bargain.
Last worn: cobalt knit, silver heart necklace, grey stripe maxi skirt, black Converse (above), Rebecca Minkoff magenta Edie crossbody bag.
Other ways to wear: cobalt knit and jeans, grey stripe maxi skirt and striped scarf, black Converse in the office, Rebecca Minkoff magenta Edie crossbody bag and culottes.
Perfect for pregnancy: cobalt marl knit and hidden baby bump, Converse in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It
Maxi skirts and jumpers are cosy and comfortable for winter days. Try a neutral knit and a colourful skirt, or vice versa, for an easy outfit.

I really like both outfits, Mica, but the first one is very striking! I always love that orange skirt when you show it and the ombre sweater makes a really cool pattern mix of sorts. Great styling!

Thanks :) It's red but I think some screens make it look orange - definitely a true red in person and on my screen :)
DeleteI love the sweater/maxi skirt pairing and both these looks! My favorite is the first as I love the skirt colour!

That Edie is such a great bag for everyday use:) And of course, love the knits. The ombre one looked so good paired with that skirt (even though it did get too hot later on:D) And that shade of blue looks so awesome on you:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead!
Yes I'm glad I tried it for something different even if the day was much warmer than expected!
DeleteThat ombre knit is SO beautiful. I love it paired with that gorgeous maxi skirt! I'm sorry it ended up being a warm day when you had it on...but at least you looked great :D
ReplyDeleteThe knits/maxi skirt combo looks really cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
Love both the outfits, but my fav is the 1st, just because I like a lot the color contrast!^^

Love your cozy knit pieces, and the creative pattern mix and color combination in your first outfit. Dressing through the seasonal transitions can sure be tricky with unpredictable weather. Have a good week and thanks for the link up!
ReplyDeleteYes the weather has been a little unpredictable between autumn and spring but I'm loving needing less layers! :)
DeleteVery comfortable outfits.
ReplyDeleteKisses
Your ombre knit in the first picture is very much to my liking. Its neutral color goes well with any skirt.
ReplyDeleteThe silver heart pendant in the next set of pictures is the very right thing on the very right spot, the blue knit.
Every time I see one of your maxi skirt outfits I feel the need to go shopping! Love the red one in particular, such a gorgeous vibrant piece for any occasion.
ReplyDeleteI love that red printed skirt, so pretty! It has a pretty fallish vibe to it too. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Happy belated birthday to your son. I am glad his little party turned out well. I love how you paired the dress and sweater up, such an easy to ware and reuse favorite pieces. Both combos work, but you were right with the ombre and pattern combo. I really like that. Have a fantastic week ahead.

Thank you, it wasn't my son's party, just one for one of his friends :)
DeleteI love the combo of your great sweaters with maxi skirts - they look really great.

Such a great sense of style. Especially for the fall and winter season. No matter the time of year. It is always one of my favourites :) http://www.bauchlefashion.com/2021/09/the-toastiest-faux-fur-coats-to-wear.html
ReplyDeleteThe first sweater looks very good.
ReplyDeleteThe grey maxi skirt does look comfortable. Fabulous outfits, both of them. I like how you pair your sweaters with maxis, such a great outfit formula. Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a comfortable outfit formula! Good for colder days!
DeleteI'm in love with your fashion sense! My favourite item is definitely the red skirt, it looks gorgeous with the sweater. Also, the Rebecca Minkoff's bag is so cool, I have never heard of that brand before.
ReplyDeleteNice post :)

I did! It's a very open knit! But I didn't bring extra sunscreen as we applied it before we left the house, so I suffered with it on as I'd rather be too warm than get sunburn from taking it off.
DeletePretty outfits!
ReplyDeleteLove maxi skirts!

You sure know how to rock a maxi skirt. Have a great week.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amysfashionblog.com/blog-home
I really like the ombre sweater with the maxi. I love that type of open knit as it feels more versatile for warmer climates. I actually don't have anything of that type.
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
Most of my knits are open knits or light knits - it just doesn't get that cold for thicker chunky knits!
DeleteI really like the colours of the serena ombre knit top. Sometimes it is difficult with ombre if the colours do not merge well. The colours in your grey-fawn knit top merged well. The subtle colours went well with the brighter red skirt too. Yes, sometimes it is impossible to know what to wear as the weather can change like traffic lights!
ReplyDeleteYou are rocking those looks. Again.
ReplyDeleteLove this sweater and skirt combo! The first look is my favorite!

Hello Mica, I hope you're having a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteHonestly I miss sweaters so much and I can't wait to wear cozy looks like this! Good to know you had a little birthday party, despite the covid restrictions. I think the first look is perfect for a casual day at the park or hanging out with friends, is cozy but it feels functional too. The Chloe bag is the perfect ally to carry all the necessary stuff of course ;)
And I liked the second one too! Probably the first is my favorite for the fall-winter colors, but I liked that the second one has that burgundy chic bag!

A sweater paired with a maxi skirt is such a foolproof outfit combination that is appropriate for so many occasions. Sometimes thing that we don't necessarily think will work out together turn out to be a nice surprise. That neutral ombre jumper looks lovely paired with that vibrant tomato red skirt.
ReplyDeleteBoth outfits are fabulous, but I really love the ombre print mix in the first one. Have a great week!

I love this jumper with the red maxi skirt - it has a lovely autumnal vibe for the Northern Hemisphere! These "shoulder" seasons are so tricky for dressing - layers, always layers! The bag with the first outfit is the PERFECT colour. Great outfit.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, that cobalt with the magenta bag is so awesome! I love those colours together.
Happy week ahead, my friend!
Oh, duh, and thank you so much for the link party!
