What I wore:
Knit: SES fashions mustard marle knit jumper
Shorts: Kmart culotte short in navy lemon print
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bag: Chloe periwinkle small Paraty
Why I wore it:
What a day this was! It was set to be a pretty relaxed day, with sports for the little one after dropping his eldest off at school, and then a little playdate before lunch and picking his brother up in the evening. However none of the kids wanted to leave the playdate! The other mums had prepared and brought lunch, we ended up having to buy some overpriced snacks as I had nothing - usually the lure of going home for lunch is enough to end the playdate. It made sense though, they had just come out of an unusually long for Brisbane 8 day lockdown the other week and had been missing their friends - so I was happy to let him keep on playing. He was not so happy though when we had to hurry up and leave after 4 hours to get to school in time to pick up his brother though, ha!I really like this mustard knit and it layers so well for winter. Although this is the first time I've worn it on its own and I'm realising it's maybe not the best colour for me (at least it looks like it in the photos) I loved this outfit. I liked the mustard with the lemon yellow print on the navy culottes and it was the perfect warmth for the day with just a little breeze. Kept all the accessories blue to pair nicely with the navy shorts, even though the Converse and the Chloe small periwinkle Paraty bag are different shades of blue.

Shorts: Jeanswest Parker printed shirred short
Shoes: New Balance Coast women's running shoe in black

Why I wore it:
Again, I loved this outfit. It was a bit of a windy day so I appreciated the knit when we were in the shade as we scooted around our local park. Headed to the shops after for a bulk birthday present buying - the lifting of lockdown back in August brought with it a flurry of birthday party invites for the kids and we had a lot of fun wandering around Kmart picking out gifts.
Since I liked the mustard knit and navy culotte combo in the outfit above, I'd actually thought of my navy striped culottes with this cobalt knit. I just couldn't make it work though, the paper bag waist didn't look good with the slouchy knit no matter how much or how little I tucked it in. Since it was too hot for jeans and a jumper, ended up pulling out these little black printed shorts that have not been worn in a while instead and they were perfect! Black and blue work really well together, especially when the blue is a bold shade like this jumper.
Wore my Chloe small Paraty bag again for more blue with the knit, even though it's a different shade. And because it perfectly fit in all our water bottles for our scoot around the park.
Last worn: cobalt marl knit, feather necklace, black printed shorts, New Balance sneakers, periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag (above).
Other ways to wear: cobalt marl knit over maxi dress, black printed shorts and cardigan, New Balance sneakers and dress, periwinkle Chloe Paraty bag and jeans.
Perfect for pregnancy: cobalt marl knit and hidden baby bump.

How You Can Wear It:
When spring weather starts to arrive you can get a few extra wears from your winter knits by pairing them with cute shorts on warmer days.
I love your Chloe bag. Sounds like a fun day with the playdate that no one wanted to end - thank goodness snacks were available for purchase or you'd have had some sad kiddos!

And me - haha! I was getting grouchy as I had a very nice lunch waiting in the fridge at home and definitely needed a snack myself!
DeleteOh WOW, I absolutely adore this gorgeous Chloe bag...and the shorts teamed with knits look wonderful! I would never have thought of wearing shorts with sweaters, but it works really well!😊😊
ReplyDeleteHave a super day, dear friend.

It works really well some days when the weather is just right!
DeleteAnother win when it comes to colour combo:) I love both knits, and I actually think that first knit looks so awesome on you! I love both the Paraty bags to boot. Imma gonna have to check Chloe next time I go out shopping!
ReplyDeleteThank you - I felt it looked a little washed out in the photos! Chloe was my first designer handbag love :)

Hello Mica, so happy to know that your kids were able to enjoy some time with their friends after the short lockdown.
ReplyDeleteI love your looks since you mixed sweaters/knits with shorts, those are my favorite combinations but here you can just wear them in the "in between" seasons that last so little. I'll try to copy some of these tips for next fall!
I loved your combinations, but the second one with the electric blue is so bold and eye catching!
Have a lovely weekend!

How wonderful to get out again after an 8-day lockdown! No wonder your little one didn't want to leave his playdate. :)
ReplyDeleteI hear you on "clothes that look good in person but not on my blog"! I have also realized that certain things just do not photograph well or 'read' correctly on monitors. I thought the first jumper was a rather bland colour until I saw a close-up of the marled wool. I think I would try to put it with something in a bolder version of orange or yellow (it's hard to see what the dominant colour is in it) to try to emphasize it. Or...it just might not last in your closet if you don't like it onscreen. I have lost count of how many clothes I've ousted after seeing them in pictures ("oh jeez!"). :)
Love the blue jumper - that colour is spectacular on you. It's great with the shorts. I totally agree on blue/black together, especially with a high-contrast pairing like this.
Lovely bags as always, Mica! Did you see my new purple leather purse? I always think of you when I buy a bag! :) Happy weekend, my dear friend!
It's a shame it fell flat on the photos as it is such a beautiful marle - it even has metallic gold thread through it. A really cute piece that didn't look as nice as I thought. As I usually layer over it and wear it in cooler weather I think it will live on! :)
DeleteI'm forever jealous at your ability to thrift such cute leather bags! All I see if faux leather here and it's usually already peeling from the heat and humidity. The MbMJ one I thrifted a few months ago was a definite exception to the usual rules!
Love the casual looks Have a wonderful day Cris

ReplyDeleteBoth outfits are so lovely, Mica! Masters and navy are great combination, and shoes and bag's colors really go well with them:) You have the great Chloe bag!

ReplyDeleteLove how versatile your wardrobe is. Especially, the bold colours :) http://www.bauchlefashion.com/2021/09/why-men-need-to-ditch-blazer-in-favour.html
ReplyDeleteYay for coming out of an 8 day lockdown to enjoy a playdate. My kids were so strange...I had to drag them to play with others. They never wanted to 'go play' but they had each other, and were only 2 years apart so I guess they had built in playmates/playdates.
ReplyDeleteLove that you are working into spring with those cute shorts and lighter weight long sleeve tees or sweaters. We are still pretty toasty over here but will be for about 3-4 more weeks. It seems like Halloween is when fall really hits.
Mine are less than 2 months apart but it's still good for them to have their own friends and get together with them outside of school :) Just so good for them to get out after a long 8 day lockdown!
DeleteLoved this post! Thanks for sharing have an amazing day
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your outfit choices. You always look so comfortable but stylish! Also glad you are able to get out of the lockdown and the kiddies can play together.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful week!
