Weekday Wear Linkup! Ombre Knit Worn 2 Ways

For today's weekday wear linkup I'm sharing two ways to wear this fun ombre knit I bought a few years ago from Jeanswest. It worked perfectly for a busy day in the office and then dinner out with some mum friends in the evening.

What I wore:

ombre knit in office with star print scarf tench coat pencil skirt magenta rebecca minkoff edie bag | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff Edie small crossbody bag in magenta | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
Scarf: star print pashmina
JumperJeanswest 'Serena' ombre knit
SkirtJeanswest black ponte pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie small crossbody bag in magenta

Why I wore it:

On a cold winter day, a nice knit jumper, black pencil skirt and fleece-lined tights is such an easy choice for the office, especially if you're in a casual work environment like I am. The ombre knit kept me so warm I only needed the fun star print scarf on the commute. The neutral stars pair perfectly with the camel trench coat. With all of the neutrals, even silver ballet flats, I felt this outfit needed a little pop so I wore my Rebecca Minkoff small Edie bag in magenta, such a great touch of colour.

It was a little bit of a hectic day at work, ending with a big presentation that I was quite nervous about! Thankfully I had my colleague there too helping me present, and I was relieved to get good feedback about our session afterwards, as well as some compliments on my knit! A forever classic I think.

Last worn: camel trench coat, star print scarf, ombre knit, black pencil skirt, silver ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff small Edie bag.

Other ways to wearcamel trench coat and mustard dress, star print scarf and warp dress, ombre knit and leopard print jeans, black pencil skirt and printed tank in summer, silver ballet flats and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff small Edie bag and shorts.

Perfect for pregnancycamel trench coat in first trimester, star print scarf in second trimester, ombre knit in third trimester, black pencil skirt in second trimester, silver ballet flats in third trimester.

Jeans: thrifted Emerson red skinny jeans

Why I wore it:

After the day at work above, I quickly dashed home to get changed and get a photo before the sun set! I kept the same knit, as I love it so much, and just made a few extra changes to make a more cheerful outfit for an evening out with some mum friends trying a new restaurant.

I've worn this ombre knit with my burgundy pants before, but this is the first time I've worn it with my red jeans. I really liked the combination, and wanted to continue the red theme with the fun skull scarf. A black leather jacket seemed a more casual option than a trench coat, but still cosy, and I added some ankle boots to keep me warm. I did look at the photos afterwards and think I should have worn black ankle boots with this instead of my nude Acne pistol boots, but with these having a bit of a heel there aren't many opportunities in mum life to wear them and I jumped at the opportunity to wear them to dinner!

The coral mini MAC bag was a completely different colour, it really seems more peach than coral to me despite the official colour name,so I thought the orange and red would look nice together. I really liked this and had a wonderful night out!

Last worn: black leather jacket, navy tassel earrings, skull scarf, ombre knit (above), red skinny jeans, Acne pistol boots, Rebecca Minkoff small love bag.

Other ways to wearblack leather jacket at Disneyland, skull scarf and striped coatigan, ombre knit and purple jeans, red skinny jeans and printed tank, Acne pistol boots and maxi dress, Rebecca Minkoff small love bag and navy blouse.

Perfect for pregnancyskull scarf in third trimester, ombre knit at 40 weeks, Acne pistol boots in third trimester.

Ombre Knits Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

It's great to have pieces that do double duty in the office and outside of work too! A classic neutral knit is something you will find easy to wear for so many occasions. An ombre knit looks great with other neutral pieces or can be made more fun with brighter and colourful pieces.

  17. I love both looks. I love that you paired the grays and blacks and whites with the beige coat - I love that color combination! And the bag is a perfect pop of color. And I really love those red jeans on you. I think the black ankle boots would have been more of a great contrast but I definitely do understand wanting to wear heels. Time to find some black ankle boots with heels!

  18. I do agree that that trench is simply perfect with the neutral styling you wore for work. The skirt is lovely and the knit is truly a classic. What is more, I really liked how you added a pop of colour with a magenta Rebecca M bag. This was such a cute styling! It's great that the presentation at work went well and that you got positive feedback for it and compliments for your knit. Presentations can always be a bit nerve- racking but one always feel better after doing them.
The second styling is so fabulous. I love the combo of red jeans (this pair looks great on you btw) with a leather jacket and a statement scarf. You look fantastic in both outfits.
