What I wore:
Earrings: Colette Joanne teal and gold multi drop disk earrings
Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacketScarf: Louis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
Tee: Atmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
Dress: Kmart Tropicana sleeveless tiered maxi dress
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
Knowing how windy it was going to be I added a grey tee over this floral maxi dress to keep me a little warmer. It was nice in the sun, but we spent the birthday party in the shade so we felt the worst of the wind and I was grateful I'd added the tee! The denim jacket wasn't as warm as I'd have liked but the big Louis Vuitton shawl is a wool blend and so was perfect for the breeze. The kids had a great time at the party, although there were definitely too much chocolate and lollies consumed ๐ Sign of a successful party though if you eat too much good food! Plenty of cake to go around too, even though the re-introduced COVID restrictions of 10 people gatherings announced the day before meant it was cut in half, to save some for the other guests who were coming in the afternoon!I wasn't sure if the tempete blue Balenciaga day bag would be too much blue with this outfit, with the light wash of the denim jacket and the cobalt blue of the scarf, but I think all the blues went really nicely with the blue in the floral print of the dress. Even if the dress was picked up quite a lot in the wind and probably not the best choice for the day!
Last worn: statement earrings, moto denim jacket, Louis Vuitton shawl, grey tee, Kmart tropical print maxi dress, black ankle boots, Balenciaga tempete Day bag.
Other ways to wear: moto denim jacket and tee dress, Louis Vuitton shawl in monochrome outfit, grey tee and jeans, Kmart tropical print maxi dress and kimono, black ankle boots worn 30 ways, Balenciaga tempete Day bag and shorts.
Perfect for pregnancy: grey tee in third trimester, black ankle boots in second trimester, Balenciaga tempete Day bag in third trimester.
Favourite Balenciaga Bag In My Handbag Collection
What I wore:
Earrings: Kmart navy tassel earrings
Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacketScarf: Fashion Scarf Girl plain crinkle scarf in hot pink (c/o)
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
Bag: Balenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet (more affordable preloved)
Why I wore it:
This was a really fun party! Our last one before the 10 people gathering restriction came into place, as we didn't know until after the party that the restriction had just been put in place that morning with immediate effect! The kids had a blast at a playground we hadn't been to before, running around with their friends and again eating lots of party food. It was nice to meet some of the parents of my kids friends I hadn't spoken too before too, as you can't really talk during the school run when you're trying to keep your distance. With the blue maxi dress, navy statement earrings and indigo denim jacket this felt a bit too monochrome, so I added some pink accessories to brighten it up a bit! It's not the first time I've worn this hot pink scarf and pink Balenciaga sorbet city bag together before, I really like the combination and pink always works so well with blue.
Despite another windy day I was pretty warm as there was plenty of running around after the kids in the playground, and helping the little one with some things he was just a bit too small for. He gave it a good go though. By the end of the party I was wishing I'd picked different shoes! These ankle boots have the tiniest heel but it was hard work with my injured knee.
Last worn: denim jacket, navy tassel earrings, pink textured scarf, blue maxi dress, black ankle boots (above), Balenciaga sorbet city bag.
Other ways to wear: denim jacket and chambray skirt, pink textured scarf and monochrome outfit, blue maxi dress in summer, black ankle boots and skinny jeans, Balenciaga sorbet city bag worn 30 ways.
Perfect for pregnancy: denim jacket in second trimester, blue maxi dress at 39 weeks, black ankle boots in second trimester, Balenciaga sorbet city bag at 37 weeks.
How You Can Wear It:
A maxi dress can easily be layered up for a cooler day with ankle boots, a denim jacket and a cosy scarf. For an event like a birthday party you can keep it colourful by picking bright layers, either complimenting the colours in the print of the dress like the first outfit, or a contrasting colour like in the second outfit.
I like so much both those outfits here- the same colors but once is more one of them and little less the second one and in the other opposite of the first mix :-) So cool :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day Mica :-)
These skirts are so pretty - I can see they would easily work for summer too! Hope you are having a great week!

ReplyDeleteLoving the bright pinks in both of these looks! Layering really is magical, isn't it. I definitely have some Summer dresses that would be winter-worthy if I wore sweaters over top

I think all the blues in your first outfit work really well together, especially with the addition of the pop of red from your maxi skirt! Glad to hear the kids had a great time in spite of the reintroduced restrictions. Your second outfit is my favourite! I love that maxi dress and it looks gorgeous with the denim jacket and pink scarf and bag! xxx
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you were celebrating safely! I love that skirt in the first outfit, but I think the bag's colour has a green-ish tinge that keeps it from being a perfect match (just me loving matchy, ha ha!). I think a more indigo blue might have worked better. However, still a lovely outfit!
ReplyDeleteYour pinks are perfect in the second outfit - not quite matching but in the right tones to complement each other.
I hope your week goes well, my dear!
Yes it was a very sudden rule change (effective immediately when they announced it!) but we met the new changes well. A strange weekend!
DeleteI just love how nice and full both of these scarves are, they look extra cozy and warm!

DeleteOh man, I can't wait for the winter season to come! It's been super hot out in California. Love the mix and match with the different accessories. I LOVE the richness of your scarf. Makes me want to buy a bougie one too hehe. I like how you make the most out of all of your outfits. You can still be a mix of economical, bougie, while still looking great!

Thanks to you I never pack my maxidresses away until it is time for the winter wardrobe, I just layer them with a jumper on top. That tip truly changed the way I look at them.

Love your outfit choices. Its a great way to change the up by learing, isn't it? I always struggle with maxi dresses being 5ft3 ๐. Wouldn't have thought to wear them as it i getting cooler, but will now!
