Olive and Mustard Outfits With Blue Bags

I really like olive and mustard together! For Monday's post I shared some yellow and blue outfits, this time around it's yellow and olive green, with a little touch of blue.

What I wore:

mustard tee, olive embroidered shorts and sneakers, blue Julian nylon backpack mum style | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue | awayfromtheblue

Necklace: Colette tortoise shell acrylic disc tassel necklace
Tee: Big W mustard v-neck tee
Shorts: Jeanswest Tessa olive embroidered shorts
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagRebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack in bright blue

Why I wore it:

This was a fun day! After the school run I took my youngest out to a messy play day. Something we used to do and enjoy regularly before Covid last year. It was so good to attend again. They've been running them for a while as life returned to normal quickly here after the first lockdown in March 2020 when we reached no cases, but we've always had something else on so couldn't make it before. It was an Easter theme so lots of eggs and bunnies and my son really enjoyed it. I just wanted a simple outfit as I know from experience there can be a little bit of mess that makes its way onto me!

So I wore simple soft shorts (these olive ones are a staple this summer) and a bright tee. This mustard one hasn't been worn in a while and surprisingly I've never worn it with these shorts before! I really like yellow with these olive shorts so it was interesting to see I hadn't put these two pieces together before. Added the tortoiseshell tassel necklace to try dress this up just a little.

The blue Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack is another touch of colour with the outfit but I just picked it as it's easy to clean with a baby wipe, in anticipation of it getting dirty during messy play!

Last worn: mustard tee, tortoiseshell necklace, olive shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack.

Other ways to wearmustard tee and maxi skirt, olive shorts with navy, Rebecca Minkoff Julian nylon backpack and midi dress.

What I wore:

marigold mustard ribbed batwing top with olive green skinny jeans teal rebecca minkoff love too bag | away from blue

Rebecca Minkoff Love Too in deep teal croc embossed leather | away from the blue

Kmart short sleeve textured dolman top in marigold with olive green skinny jeans and teal love too bag | awayfromblue

Necklace: thrifted cream and navy statement flat bead necklace
Top: Kmart short sleeve textured dolman top in marigold
Jeans: Jeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff Love Too in deep teal croc embossed leather

Why I wore it:

I'd planned to wear this (almost more orange than mustard top) with the olive shorts above, but a cooler and rainy autumn day meant I went with jeans instead. Luckily I have these olive green skinny jeans so I could still wear the colour combo I had planned.

This was such a comfortable outfit for working from home and then spending some time with my mum in the afternoon. This marigold ribbed batwing sleeve top is so perfectly slouchy and such a cheerful colour, and these jeans are so comfortable. I wore them when we flew to Europe a couple years ago. The statement necklace helped dress it up a little too.

I thought the teal Rebecca Minkoff Love Too bag would be a nice touch with the olive jeans, teal and olive are a surprisingly good combination.

How You Can Wear It

Mustard and olive looks so good together! You can even introduce a third colour to your outfit with an accessory like a bag too, for an even more colourful and cheerful outfit.

  1. I don't think I own any bottoms in that colour and I need to change that ASAP, they both look great! I hope your son enjoyed his messy play, it sounds really fun with the Easter theme. It's great they can do stuff like that again post covid too x

  34. I love olive green! I have lots of bottoms in that color, but I hav never paired them with a mustard top. Love your look. Mustard and olive green is a beautiful combination! Glad some things are getting back to normal where you are. We've been pretty much back to normal here (except we still have to wear the masks in stores here in Maryland. Some states like Florida and Texas have dropped the mask mandate making me wish I lived in one of those states!) for a while now. And glad you got in some mom time too. :)
