What I wore:
Scarf: Louis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
Earrings: Ana Luisa 'Olivia' tassel earrings in pink
Dress: Jeanswest Gigi printed maxi dress in shorter length (C/O)
Shoes: NineWest "Quicken" wedges in natural
Bracelets: the usual plus vintage silver charm bracelet
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC
Why I wore it:
This is what I wore for the wedding. It is my usual wedding guest outfit, a pretty maxi dress and a comfortable pair of wedges. However I also had a tank layered underneath and full length leggings! ๐ It was only 10 degrees Celsius / 50 Fahrenheit so winter temps for this Aussie! The Louis Vuitton shawl is wool blend so I tied it in the back to keep it on my shoulders and keep me warm. The venue was perfectly heated though, and aside from feeling a little cold when we stepped out into the stunning gardens to take photos, I didn't miss not having a jacket.
I picked the Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC as my bag for the night - while the boys were invited, I didn't carry anything for them as our room was so close by. The bride and groom also made sure the boys were catered for as well, with a giant bag full of multiple activities and toy cars and lollies waiting for each of them when we sat down for dinner. Such a sweet surprise. The ladies bathroom had a hamper full of all the little essentials 'just in case' from the bride too - hair spray, hair ties, bandaids, mints, perfume...etc! So thoughtful! It was an amazing wedding, beautiful venue and such a cute couple!

Last worn: Louis Vuitton shawl, blush tassel earrings, printed halterneck maxi dress, nude wedges, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag.
Other ways to wear: Louis Vuitton shawl for international flight, printed halterneck maxi dress and flats, nude wedges and little black dress, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag and green pants.
Perfect for pregnancy: printed halterneck maxi dress in second trimester, nude wedges in first trimester, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag in third trimester.
What's In My Bag & Review: Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC
What I wore:
Necklace: Tiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
Dress: Zaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC
Why I wore it:
The morning after the wedding (as another indication of how thoughtful the bride and groom were) we were all invited to celebrate with them in a post-wedding breakfast, going over the best parts of the day before and enjoying some yummy food. I wanted to be a little dressed up for this, so I wore my mustard floral print ruffle dress. Perfect for easy post-wedding dressing (hubby took the boys to bed early as I partied on until the end!) and the long sleeves helped keep me cosy, especially with the camel trench coat over the top.I mentioned to hubby I wish I'd had more time at the castle - there were so many great spots for photos! I figured this spot from out the front before we hopped into the car and went to church was the easiest though, it's nice to be able to show you the other side of the castle.
I packed lightly for our castle stay, leaving everything else at our main accommodation, so I wore the same earrings and bag as the night before (although we also had the baby bag with us this time).
Last worn: camel trench, statement earrings (above), Tiffany necklace, mustard floral dress, ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff silver mini MAC (above).
Other ways to wear: camel trench in the office, mustard floral dress in summer, ankle boots and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff silver mini MAC and maxi skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: camel trench in first trimester, ankle boots in second trimester, Rebecca Minkoff silver mini MAC in second trimester.
Another outfit from the wedding! Photo taken out the front of Melville castle. If you are ever in Scotland and have the chance to visit I highly recommend staying here! ๐ #melvillecastle— Mica (@AwayFromTheBlue) June 6, 2019

Printed Dresses Under $50:
How You Can Wear It:
A printed dress is such an easy outfit, you can glam it up with a pair of wedges or dress it down with ankle boots and a trench coat. A wonderful outfit choice for a weekend away in a Scottish castle!Linking up with Lizzie In Lace, Friday Faves, Sunday Reflections, Mutton Style, On Mondays We Link Up.

What a magical place to stay - that's basically like my dream and now I have to look into it when we, hopefully, visit Scotland again in the next few years (I seriously miss it so much).

DeleteLoving both of these looks, perfect for a wedding weekend! It's so nice that the bride made sure to have all those just-in-case items. It's really something you don't think about often but is super helpful

Okay, that was actually a BRILLIANT idea to wear leggings under your maxi dress!! I am always freezing at fancy events. Next time I'm trying your trick. And you look fab in both outfits. Yellow is a really great color on you!

Lovely dress Mica!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to stay at a castle! I would love to do that. Such great outfits too!
ReplyDeleteIt was such a unique experience!
DeleteHow romantic to have a wedding in a Scottish Castle. It is great that you decided to stay overnight there with hobby and kids. It must be a nice experience spending the night in a castle. I never stayed in a real castle, but I stayed in a five star hotel that was built as a castle and I remember it was a great experience!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful in that maxi dress. That's a great wedding guest outfit. It was smart you opted for wedges, that way you could walk more freely around the castle and I see the garden around the castle is simply perfect for strolling around. Great idea to layer with tights as well.
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the wedding. It was thoughtful of your husband to take the boys to bed so you could dance and have fun. I attended about half a dozen weddings this year and sometimes I get a bit bored of it (especially if I don't know the bride and the groom very well) but yesterday I had such a great time at the wedding I went too. I generally have a better time if I go with my husband because than I have a dancing partner, but we are invited on so many weddings that most times we have to split to attend them all.
It was such a romantic venue! I'm so glad hubby and the boys could be there :)
Deletewhat a neat place to explore! you look lovely!

Attending a wedding and staying at a Scottish castle must have been truly amazing. I absolutely adore your wedding guest outfit, Mica! Wishing you a wonderful weekend! xxx
ReplyDeleteP.S. Congratulations on your 10th wedding anniversary! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteHow romantic, Melville Castle looks heavenly! I'm so happy you and your family had a wonderful time at the wedding, and even happier you and your husband got to enjoy celebrating your anniversary somewhere so special and meaningful! Massive congratulations on your 10 years! :) Scotland must have seemed so cold in comparison to Australia, I feel the cold terribly so would probably find Scotland glacial haha. You dressed so dreamily, I love the beautiful blue tones to your first outfit and the mustard yellow of your second ♥︎
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful weekend lovely Mica! :)

It is so cool that you got to stay in a castle! This is one great way to feel like you lived in the past with modern touches. I love your LV shawl. You rock the Zaful floral print! Congratulations to the bride and groom on their marriage. Glad you had a fabulous time out there.

What a beautiful trip - I'm so glad you decided to spend a night in the castle. Congratulations on your tenth! Scotland is a huge wedding venue, apparently. I've had several friends who've gone over for weddings. I love both of your looks. I agree that 10C/50F is winter. I'm so glad we're past that here now. It's slowly coming into summer (still a little springlike here but good and sunny and warm this weekend). All it takes of winter is about 2 days for me to be ready for summer again. That yellow dress is one of my favorites and I love it paired with the leggings and ankle boots! And that metallic mini Minkoff is gorgeous! I hope you're having a super weekend!

Oh, I didn't realize you guys went to a wedding while you were in Scotland! What a gorgeous venue! And you looked beautiful! I would have been freezing in a dress and 50 degree weather, and it gets darn cold here in the wintertime haha!
ReplyDeletehaha yes it was so cold, but so beautiful too! :)
DeleteI love weddings - how awesome to get married in a castle (or at least have one nearby!). You look fabulous in both outfits!
ReplyDeleteA wedding at a castle sounds like a dream - and of course like the perfect opportunity for taking pictures. I prefer to stay as close as possible when attending celebrations with kids too, that way they can quickly be referred back to the room in case they need to be changed, which happens a lot...
ReplyDeleteYes having the room was such a good idea! :)
DeleteI did think you were probably chilly in the maxi knowing what our summer is like so far. Glad the castle was heated and you were comfortable. That was one thoughtful wedding hosts. I'm glad you had an exciting to trip to my land. Thanks for linking
ReplyDeleteThey were such a thoughtful couple! It was chilly but so beautiful :)
DeleteBoth of the outfits are cute. But I love the long dress the most x

Both of your looks are beautiful! I can see why you'd need to cover up in such cold weather and it's great that you stayed warm. It's also wonderful that you stayed in the castle. It sounds like such a wonderful experience.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week.
