What I wore:
Necklace: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklace
Top: Jeanswest Maya gather back tank in chartreuse
Jeans: Nobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (C/O, on sale!)
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather
Why I wore it:
Florals aren't just for spring! Wearing them to welcome the first day of winter with this cosy kimono. The navy kimono and mustard tank aren't a new combination, I wore it before here in summer, but it's a combination I love so much I was eager to wear again! This time with jeans instead of shorts, as it is still winter.Had a busy day, with daycare drop off and pick up, working from home and baby boy's specialist appointment in the afternoon, so I wanted something easy and comfortable. By picking classic black jeans that go with everything and a top and kimono I've worn together before, I knew this outfit would work. Anything that makes getting dressed in the morning quicker and easier is good as a mum!
It was a chilly morning, but the warmer cotton of this kimono and the cocoon style enveloping my arms made this perfect for tackling the chill.
Last worn: floral cocoon kimono, mustard tank, nobody denim skinny jeans, Walnut Melbourne ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag.
Other ways to wear: floral cocoon kimono and shorts, mustard tank in summer, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and Converse, Walnut Melbourne ballet flats in the office, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag and boho dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: floral cocoon kimono in third trimester, Walnut Melbourne ballet flats in third trimester, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag in third trimester.
Rebecca Minkoff Handbag Collection:
I have a LOT of mini MAC bags (I actually have more I got since filming that video!)
What I wore:
Necklace: Silk beaded baby-friendly necklace
Tank: Asos satin singlet in pink
Jeans: Jeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black
Shoes: Asos leather Chelsea boots in tan
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather
Why I wore it:
Unlike the kimono above, this kimono wasn't as cosy. I did regret it a little in the morning as we had an early start, with some errands before our ABA mother's group, and it took awhile for the weather to warm up. I wore this in the first week of winter though, when I wasn't quite ready to retire my kimonos for the season! The ankle boots were an effort to make me feel warmer, but really they just annoyed me. I forgot that the zips on the hems of these Jeanswest skinny jeans make them difficult to wear with ankle boots, they just aren't a comfortable combo.
Despite these minor annoyances, I did like this outfit. I love blue and pink together, and this was a fun way to wear the combination, even if this kimono will be set aside to wait for warmer weather!
Last worn: Jamie print kimono, pink satin tank, Jeanswest prima jeans, Chelsea ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC (above).
Other ways to wear: Jamie print kimono and shorts, pink satin tank and double denim, Jeanswest prima jeans and denim jacket, Chelsea ankle boots and dress, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC and maxi dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: pink satin tank hiding second trimester bump, Jeanswest prima jeans in second trimester, Chelsea ankle boots in second trimester, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in second trimester.
Printed Kimonos Under $50:
How You Can Wear It:
Black jeans go with everything and are a great wardrobe staple and alternative to the traditional blue. Wearing a pair of neutral black jeans lets you be a little more colourful with the rest of your outfit too. A printed kimono adds more interest to your outfit, making a bold but easy to wear colour combination when paired with a bright tank.Linking up with Style On The Daily, Fashion Files, Fun Fashion, Weekend Wear, Fabulous Friday, Flashback Fashion, Modest Monday.

stai benissimo con il top giallo :)
ReplyDeleteYou look fab in both of these outfits, Mica! Those black skinny jeans really do go with everything and I agree they are a great alternative to blue jeans. I love the blue and pink combo in the second outfit :) XXX
ReplyDeleteI too am all about the kimono's lately! It's been super hot here in the UK (I am sure it's nothing compared to the Australian summer, but for us, even 23 degrees is too much, haha!), and I find that kimonos are perfect for this kind of weather. They are super versatile, in general! I love both outfits, the first one especially is super lovely and I like how you combined the colours. <3 Thanks for sharing, lovely! xoxo

haha 23 degrees is a mild winter for us, but I understand when you frequently have snow it can feel like a lot!
DeleteI love how you wore florals and colourful combos, Mica:) I think they should be worn year-round and not just for the warm months. And so hear yah about the ankle boots-and-zippered jeans....I've worn something like that before and they are uncomfortable! You do look great in them though:)
ReplyDeleteYes, I only wish the combination felt as good as it looked ha! Such an annoying placement of boots and zipper!
DeleteIt's funny how an outfit can look great in the photos, but there's some details that make it hard or annoying to wear!!
ReplyDeleteBut I always love that you enjoy bright colors, Mica!!
XOXO

Thank you Jodie! I've really been making more of an effort to wear more colour lately and be bodler with my outfit choices!
DeleteOh I love how you pair these pretty kimonos with complementary bright camis! And sorry about the jeans/ankle boots not working as well as you hoped. That happens to me with certain pants...the ankle part just doesn't "go" with the shoe as easily as Pinterest makes me think it should!
ReplyDeleteGina || On the Daily Express
yes! Jeans and ankle boots can be tricky, especially if the jeans have zippers!
DeleteThis kimono is so pretty! I love that!
ReplyDeleteHope you're well! It's SO hot here!
Raindrops of Sapphire
Hope you are enjoying your heatwave!
DeleteLoving both of these outfits! I really like the introduction of more kimonos, matched with bright tanks makes it such a lovely rendition!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

I wouldn't want to retire the kimonos in the winter either - they're so light, lovely and versatile. They're perfect with jeans!
ReplyDeleteThey are so nice with jeans! It's a shame I can't wear them year-round here!
DeleteLove the color of your handbag! So chic and this whole look is just perfect for this summer!

I see your kimonos are also perfect for the winter! But I see also that your winters aren't as cold as our winters in Bavaria because such outfits like you show here today are much too cold for the in Bavaria usual winter temperatures :) I'm not surprised you have been happy with the first look and despite the minor disadvantages I see you have been also quite happy with the second beautiful look!

haha, yes I couldn't wear them now i the middle of winter, but it was nice to wear them for a little bit at the start of winter! :)
DeleteBoth the looks are so cute. I love how you have been styling Kimonos lately, you never fail to pull together a stylish look!!
ReplyDeletehttp://sugarcoatedbears.blogspot.com/
Thanks! I do love my kimonos!
DeleteI have a special place in my heart for skinny jeans haha, I swear I've been wearing them on-and-off for about a decade now! There's no going wrong with a well-fitting black pair and you've styled this pair wonderfully :) Hope you're having a wonderful week so far...
ReplyDeleteaglassofice.com x
Thanks Gabrielle :) I do think skinny jeans are such a staple!
DeleteBoth combinations/outfits look great. Your winter is definitely warmer than ours (and ours is balmy by Canadian standards)! You're really good at this bright colour mixes - well done!
ReplyDeleteYes, we are lucky it warms up quite a lot through the day! :)
Deleteyou always rock a kimono so awesome!
ReplyDeletekelseybang.com
I guess it is always the same at the start of a new season: You have to relearn all the little things you previously forgot, like the zipper don't pair with ankle boots issue.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Linda, Libra, Loca
Definitely! :) It's a wardrobe reintroduction, haha!
DeleteI always love the look of kimonos, they always add interest to an outfit! x
ReplyDeleteKate Louise Blogs
I like that yellow on you! And the chunky necklace looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love that bright bag!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean about that second outfit. Sometimes just the tiniest things about an outfit can bug you. So even if it's super cute you're like 'GAHHHH!!!' I have some jeans with zipped hems and I always think I can wear boots with them and then I remember, NOOOOPE
http://www.closet-fashionista.com/
haha yep! It's a cool feature, not so much when you're trying to wear ankle boots with it though!
DeleteHi Mica
ReplyDeleteYou and I have the same problem, I can't resist a Kimono, today I also have a look with a kimono. I also like the floral pattern even in winter like you. The looks are much more interesting than with a cardigan.
I like both looks equally.
I had a busy week with other works that I do, from tomorrow I will have more time to comment on other blogs, I hope you have a good week ahead.

Your the queen of rocking a kimono. I always hate when I put something on and the weather doesn’t work out right.

You always have the cutest outfits. I love the color of your bag
ReplyDeleteLesley Kim
I love the bright colors paired with darker blue! But I love anything paired with blue! You've inspired me to get another kimono and now I am not so patiently waiting for it to come in the mail. Thanks for the fun ideas!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could inspire you! I'm sure you'll rock your kimono over summer!
DeleteI love that mint purse. It's a cute size and you paired it with some fun bright looks!

I love how colorful both outfits are. You look wonderful in both and I hope you get to wear your kimonos at least a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteKathrin | Polar Bear Style
Thanks Kathrin! I'm looking forward to the end of winter when I can wear them more! :)
DeleteThe first kimono does look more comfortable. I do like wearing kimonos on lazy days because I can just put on a simple top and then pair it with a printed kimono and I'm good to go. :D

The dark jeans totally make these looks fall ready! I can imagine them with white denim just as easily in the spring!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.iamchiconthecheap.com/
I wish I could pull off white denim, I'm too clumsy, haha!
DeleteKimonos have become such basics, I think everyone should own one. You surely have proven these can be so diverse.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lorena! I definitely think they are wardrobe essentials!
DeleteSo pretty! Love all the color!
ReplyDeleteYou are the total dream babe of kimonos, rocking both of these oh so beautifully stylish queen! I love how you've styled both these outfits, the necklaces are so divine and work so well with the pretty prints of the kimonos. The blue and pink of the second outfit looks divine on you while the pop of yellow from the first look is super cute. Deffo loving denim and kimonos together too, such a matchmake in heaven. Heart eyed for your gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff bag too, the aquamarine hue is truly stunning <3

Thanks Sophie! I love this bag, it goes with so much!
DeleteHi Mica, I agree florals can be worn season to season. I love both looks and the colors are so flattering! I pray all is well and you are having a great week.

Love the yellow outfit! This is kinda random, but I was looking for a smaller water bottle to fit in my handbags last night and I didn't want to get a plain bottle so I went for the brightest one which was yellow with a floral print all over it and your outfit reminded me of it (in a good way!) and I love it so much. The floral cardi you chose goes so perfectly with the yellow top. Makes me want to add more yellow to my wardrobe!

That sounds like an awesome bottle! :) I have been really enjoying yellow lately too! :)
DeleteI am envious that you can wear a kimono for winter, why can't Canadian winter be the same? LOL! It's always a learning curve whenever the season change, I still struggle to dress appropriately for the season.
ReplyDeleteShireen⎜Reflection of Sanity
hehe yes I wish I could wear them all winter long!
DeleteSuch a lovely colourful look! The floral kimono is gorgeous~

Ooh I love these color combos Mica! I've gotten into a bit of a rut and have been buying mostly neutrals for layering pieces. This post is reminding me that I could use a few brights to layer under my kimono and cardigans too.
ReplyDeleteNeutrals are great for layering with, but I can't resist adding a little bright bit now and then!
DeleteLove the bright color of the bag!
ReplyDeletemichellespaige.com
this aquamarine bag is so pretty. I think it looks great with both outfits.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun and adorable summer look you have here dear. That yellow top really pops out beautifully from the kimono.
