Floral Dresses, Denim Jackets And Knee High Boots

Layering up some pretty floral dresses for recent winter weekend birthday parties, with knee high boots and denim jackets. Accessorising with a couple of my Chloe bags too.

What I wore:

Jaase Celine autumn leaves mini dress in winter with denim jacket tan knee high boots chloe paraty | awayfromblue

Chloe periwinkle small Paraty with navy floral dress | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacket
Earrings: Piper gold and turquoise disc dangle earring
Necklace: personalised gold children's names charm necklace
DressJaase Celine autumn leaves mini dress
ShoesAsos Cleo leather boots in tan
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

Wore this pretty Jasse dress for my son's birthday party! We had a kid's party entertainer from Fly By Fun again who was awesome at sticking to the theme and had all the kids and adults giggling along - such a fun morning! It was a gloriously sunny day and I ended up taking the denim jacket off - one the day warmed up I really didn't need it. I liked the length of the dress with the knee high boots, I definitely need to wear the boots and dress together more often.

Although it was just a birthday party in the park I tried to dress up a little with the statement earrings as it was a special occasion. I did feel a little overdressed after the party when we went to the library in the afternoon though!

Because I wanted to have my camera close by I picked this Chloe Paraty bag to wear again. The pale periwinkle blue shade looks great with the navy dress and it meant I had my phone and camera close by and easy to grab through the morning.

Last worn: denim jacket, statement gold earrings, gold charm necklace, Jasse autumn leaves dress, knee high boots, Chloe periwinkle small Paraty bag.

Other ways to weardenim jacket worn 30 ways, Jasse autumn leaves dress and Converse, knee high boots worn 30 ways, Chloe periwinkle small Paraty bag and printed shorts.

Perfect for pregnancydenim jacket in second trimester.

My Chloe Handbag Collection:

What I wore:

Zaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger mustard mini dress with denim jacket knee high boots chloe marcie | awayfromblue

denim jacket, Chloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut | awayfromtheblue

Earrings: Colette Joanne teal and gold multi drop disk earrings
Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacket
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
Dress: Zaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger
ShoesAsos Cleo leather boots in tan
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe Marcie medium shoulder bag in nut

Why I wore it:

While this outfit follows the same formula as the one above, I didn't like this as much! The statement fluted sleeves of this dress kept bunching up under the sleeves of the jacket so it wasn't the most comfortable. I really liked the colours though. The tiered mustard floral dress is great with the pale blue moto denim jacket and the tan of the boots and brown of the Chloe Marcie bag. However I was expecting the day to be similar to the day above, and super warm. I decided not to add leggings, as standing in the sun the day before in the navy dress I'd had to take my denim jacket off.

We went to a back yard birthday party though and the back yard was in shade that morning - I really wished I'd worn leggings! I felt much colder in this than the outfit above, even though I had a slip on under the dress, just because I was in the shade most of the morning. Cute outfit, just not the most practical for the day. My son had such a good time at his friend's party though, they had so many things set up for the kids to play with and enjoy, I really liked how it was organised!

Last worn: denim moto jacket, statement earrings, diamond necklace, mustard floral dress, knee high boots (above), Chloe medium Marcie shoulder bag.

Other ways to weardenim moto jacket and double denimmustard floral dress and trench coat, knee high boots over jeans, Chloe medium Marcie shoulder bag and maxi skirt.

How You Can Wear It:

If it's not too cold, a denim jacket is a great layer over a cute floral dress to make it work into winter, especially when paired with knee high boots. Just maybe add some leggings if it's a very cold day, like I should have in the second outfit!

  2. I really like that first dress - the shade of blue is so pretty on you and it looks great with the denim and the boots. I know what you mean about sleeves bunching up under a denim jacket, drives me nuts!
Sounds like your son's birthday party was fun and a great success!

  3. You're making me wish it was Autumn over here and Summer only really just arrived, haha! It's a shame the second outfit was annoying because of the sleeves, it's super cute

  5. A well-organized event is the best, isn't it? You look fantastic in both of these outfits, Mica! I love the dress/boot combo myself - it shows both pieces off so well, without being too dressy. BTW, you are NOT overdressed in either of these outfits - I bet tons of people saw you and wished they were wearing something nicer!

Bummer about the sleeves on that dress! I know that feeling! A denim vest would be cute, and would solve the sleeve problem - do you have one? I think it would be useful in your wardrobe!

Wishing you a good week/weekend ahead, my dear. I have been working on the Autumn Jacket (one sleeve to go, then add the colour, which is quick), and your purse is up next. I'm so sorry it's taking so long!

    1. No rush at all for the purse Sheila! I'm loving the progress shots! I don't actually have any vests in my wardrobe! I tried them but they aren't for me!

  11. Too bad about the uncomfortable sleeves because it really is a cute pairing. I love both outfits, and especially love your boots. It's too hot to be thinking of boots here right now, but I am totally counting down the days until autumn when I can pull mine out of the closet again.
    Have a great weekend!

  19. You always look so good in that golden yellow! Yeah, a ruffly/large sleeve on a summer item often gives me pause because I’m always cold and so would need to layer a sweater or jacket over it! Ugh, I hate when you end up in the shade and it's much cooler than you thought it would be!

    1. Yes I thought the sleeves would behave but it was tricky when running around at the party with the kids, haha!

  23. You looked so beautifully boho for your son's birthday! The earrings are the perfect touch. And the party entertainment sounds like it was a blast! I also love the mustard dress. It's a shame about the sleeves bunching up under the jacket -- that's happened to me too. It's one the pitfalls of layering, I guess! Anyway, I hope you're having a happy -- and bunch free! -- week. :)

  24. I love the look of a denim jacket, floral dress and knee high boots, it's so edgy but feminine at the same time! I prefer the first outfit the most but both look fabulous on you! The sleeves in the yellow dress would have been so annoying bunching up. Your bags are beautiful Mica xx

  29. This type of outfit is great because it is so effortlessly stylish. The dress in the first outfit is really pretty. It's a bummer the sleeves of the yellow dress bunched up under the jacket but it's still a really pretty combination.
