Olive and Grey Worn Two Ways: Skinny Jeans and Marle Knit

I thrifted this grey knit for $1 before our trip and thought it would be wonderful to bring along to keep me warm - it was certainly much too hot for the synthetic fibres in Brisbane's hot start to autumn. The time I did wear it, I wore it with my trusty olive skinny jeans. Despite having the same outfit base, olive jeans, grey knit and Converse, I changed up the scarves and outerwear to try keep the outfits different.

What I wore:

Hike up Swanston pentland Hills outfit spring trench coat olive jeans Converse gorse Whin bushes | awayfromblue

Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
Scarf: Mickey Mouse printed scarf from Disneyland Paris
Knit: Thrifted Spirit grey marle jumper
JeansJeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Wore this for our hike in the Pentlands. We were on a mission to see a Highland Cow or two but I had to stop and take a photo with the beautiful gorse / Whin bushes halfway up the hill. Despite it threatening rain and taking two toddlers along on a 'quiet' hike to see some wild cows, we did it! I was so thrilled to find some of the herd over another crest, just after the toddlers had given up. I came back to where they were sitting having a rest and we all walked up to see these beautiful cows in person.

While the boys I kept at a safer distance, I inched closer and closer for a quick pic. My confidence levels helped greatly by the fact that the cow had seem completely disinterested in us since we saw her, and her lack of horns!

After admiring the herd and the views a bit more we headed back down the hill before the rain, to enjoy lunch at Swanston Brasserie, another place I recommend if you're in Edinburgh. The hike up the hills works up an appetite!

What's In My Bag: Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere

Why I wore it:

No wild animals this time - although we did see some statues of them! 😂 We went for a drive out to the Kelpies at Falkirk. These beautiful statues are so very large and beautiful to see in person. We had a little ice cream then headed to the large playground to have a picnic. Which had seemed like a lovely idea the day before but I admit it was a bit windy out there in the open! Thankfully the boys were running around and having so much fun they didn't notice the cold, and I was grateful I'd packed this slightly larger leather jacket to wear as even with the grey knit underneath I was able to zip this up and stay a little warmer.

My cobalt blue Louis Vuitton scarf was a nice pop of colour with the neutral grey and olive, and helped keep me warm too being a wool blend!

Olive Jeans Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

Even if you're not living out of a suitcase, you can easily repeat an outfit combo you love and change it up slightly next time by picking different accessories or outerwear. Two neutrals like grey and olive work well together and you can add colourful scarves, different jackets, or even different necklaces or bags to change the outfit up each time you wear it.

  3. Olive and grey is such a great colour combo. I always love how you also add the scarves to add a little bit of pop. That cow....can't get over how it's just sitting there. And the statues at Kelpies look awesome.
PS I have the 30 Speedy in the classic monogram canvas. You are so right. It's perfect for running around and such. Haven't used in awhile so thanks for reminding me!:D

  15. Both of these outfits are fabulous. I like the patterned scarf you styled those skinny jeans for in the first post. Lovely coat and top as well. That cow is so adorable btw. I haven't see a cow like that one, it must be a Scottish breed? So great you took that photo up close with her, and she doesn't seem bothered. I think cows typically enjoy human society, and the same seems to be the case with wild cows as well. I didn't know there was a herd of wild cows in Scotland, how interesting!

The second outfit is very stylish as well. Those statues are truly beautiful btw.
