What I wore:
Jumper: Jeanswest Kara foil pullover in smoke marl and silver
Jeans: Jeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs suede flats in red
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey
Why I wore it:
You might know from reading my blog that I love a bit of matchy matchy! I was trying to follow along with Eileen's style challenge on Instagram, and the theme for the day was to wear a neutral outfit with a statement shoe. I thought of these little worn suede ballet flats right away. And of course I just had to top it off with a red scarf to match. These red suede flats aren't worn often, I tend to stick to neutral shoes and just go with colourful bags. But I keep these shoes around as while they are rarely worn they are fun and I like every time I wear them!
The red scarf is frequently worn - I always like pulling it out in the cooler weather as it really pops against neutrals, and I love how it does that here with the grey knit.
I did end up pulling the scarf off when the day heated up and we were on our way home from playgroup, but it was needed in the cold morning. I'm extremely pleased that despite it being 'making cupcakes' day at playgroup, my outfit was mess-free. All too often I've been finding these black jeans haven't lasted the full day without one of the boys spilling or smearing something on them!
Last worn: red skull scarf, foil print knit, Jeanswest prima skinny jeans, red suede ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff quilted Love bag.
Other ways to wear: red skull scarf and red jeans, foil print knit and shorts, Jeanswest prima skinny jeans and kimono, red suede ballet flats and pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff quilted Love bag and shorts.
Perfect for pregnancy: red skull scarf in second trimester, Jeanswest prima skinny jeans in second trimester, red suede ballet flats in second trimester, Rebecca Minkoff quilted Love bag in third trimester.
My Complete Scarf Collection:
It's so fun when winter comes around, as I can wear my many scarves!
What I wore:
Jumper: thrifted SES fashions mustard marle knit jumper
Jeans: Jeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold
Why I wore it:
The only downside to winter is the winter bugs that go around, and I got one bad. And lost my voice. Which made working difficult, but not impossible. I was able to work from home for the 3 days instead of going into the office to try rest up a little. After this I was eager to get out of the house again and feeling a bit better, so I pulled on this outfit I'd been wanting to try.I like grey and yellow together, so knew I wanted to wear this mustard knit and grey jeans together. Again keeping with a little matchy matchy theme I picked my mustard Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag.
As I was still recovering still and didn't fully have my voice, I wanted to wrap my throat up warmly (I always want scarves when I'm sick!) and picked this teal and blue skull scarf as a bold pop with the mustard.
While this outfit was perfect for taking the boys out to our local park for a couple of hours, it wasn't one of my favourites, and I prefered the outfit above. I might have to try this mustard knit and grey jeans combo in a different way next time. It is always interesting to me how similar outfit formulas can have such different results!
Last worn: mustard knit, blue and teal Alexander McQueen scarf, grey skinny jeans, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Micro Regan bag.
Other ways to wear: mustard knit and printed skirt, blue and teal Alexander McQueen scarf and maxi skirt, grey skinny jeans for travel, Converse and maxi dress, Rebecca Minkoff Micro Regan bag and shorts.
Perfect for pregnancy: Converse in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:
A simple outfit formula of skinny jeans and a knit is an easy stay at home mum option in the colder weather. You can easily add some brightness to your outfit through your accessories - like I have here with the Alexander McQueen skull scarves.

Hello dear Mica
ReplyDeleteI think we never agree with each other ahahah I like most the second look. Although I like red, and shoes with vibrant colors. But I like more of the sporty look. I also love wearing winter scarves, the looks are much more interesting and also protect us from the cold. You look so good with them. I hope you're better off your voice. Have a wonderful weekend.
Lots of love

DeleteWhat a huge collection Mica ! I do keep mine like yours: on the Ikea accessory. The more expensive ones lay flat in a drawer.
ReplyDeleteThe Nicole Miller is probably one of my faves. I love that YOU ACTUALLY wear yours.. unlike me.
I'd love to be able to put mine in drawers! The scarf organiser is the best for fitting a lot and not taking up too much room though :)
DeleteThis outfit with your fun red scarf looks so chic and stylish. I love the combination and the outfit looks pretty with your skin tone :)

That red scarf is so cool! :) I really like how you styled it with the red shoes, I think that works so well, very casual and chic. The second outfit is lovely too, I really like the blue colour of that scarf. Looks like it's getting proper chilly your end, whereas here in the UK we're having the biggest heatwave! Thanks for sharing, lovely. <3 xoxo

Gosh! I love your collection, Mica! You have such awesome pieces. Really love that ASOS one with the feather and the Marc by Marc Jacob galaxy print. But these Alexander McQueen ones you were wearing in both outfits are soooo cool as well. And good to hear you're feeling better. I lose my voice a lot (yelling at the kids...hahaha) and totally know how much that sucks.
ReplyDeletehaha yes it's impossible to keep toddlers in line when you have no voice! I'm glad it's back!

I love the grey and mustard combination. It's one I've worn quite a few times before! The teal is a fun addition and one I should try next time! I have some red flats too. I don't wear them that often either, but they are so much fun to have on hand for when I want that pop of color. Yours are so cute, especially with the added red scarf!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura! I'm the same, I might not wear them often, but I have fun when I do, they're a cute addition to my shoe collection :)
DeleteLove both looks on you! That scarf is perfect :) xo Jana | www.janastyleblog.com
