There are some outfit combinations that are so good you just have to repeat them. Chambray and stripes is a classic however you decide to wear it! I wore a chambray dress and striped maxi cardigan one day, and a striped tee and chambray skirt another. Both with my Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.
What I wore:
Jacket: Kmart striped maxi cardigan
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs mauve square scarfDress: Jeanswest Rachel Lyocell chambray dress (C/O)
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots (on sale!)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey (on sale in black)
Why I wore it:
At last I get to wear this dress again! I was so excited when I got it last year and I saw it being worn a lot, however the quickly growing baby bump meant it sat unworn in my wardrobe for longer than I'd like. It's been 11 months since I last wore it! I couldn't wear it right away post baby like I wanted as the buttons were impossible to fasten in the first few weeks as we established breastfeeding. Now things are a little more normal, it was so good to wear this again.I like blue and purple together so this scarf seemed like an easy choice when I wanted an extra layer to put on with the dress and cardigan. Simple outfit to run a few errands.
Last worn: striped duster, purple Marc Jacobs scarf, chambray dress, ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.
Other ways to wear: striped duster and flares, purple scarf with black and grey, chambray dress and purple cardi, ankle boots and printed jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag and a blue kimono.
More chambray skirts and dresses under $100:
What I wore:
Sunnies: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs bright blue stoleTee: Atmos&Here 3/4 sleeve stripe tee in berry white
Skirt: Noisy May long denim maxi skirt (on sale!)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats (on sale!)
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch C/O JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey (on sale in pink)
Why I wore it:
This is my favourite outfit I've ever put together with this maxi skirt. I really liked the way this looked. The cobalt scarf was a bit of an after thought. I wasn't sure what scarf to pick but I'm pleased I went with this one in the end. The outfit came about when I tried to complete two style challenges at once - #springFlingStyleFile and #TRMstyle.I wanted to wear the striped tee to meet the 'red' style challenge prompt on instagram, and I saw this skirt hanging in my wardrobe and thought the two would look great together. I picked the silver ballet flats to meet the 'sparkle and shine' theme. The only thing I didn't like about this outfit was how the chambray maxi skirt kept getting caught in the breeze. I wore it on a very windy day and it was tricky getting a photo in the morning with it flapping around! Luckily we were inside most of the day, I needed to have a super quick trim to tidy up my hair a little bit and then the in-laws came over in the afternoon.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, cobalt scarf, burgundy stripe tee, chambray maxi skirt, silver ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag (above).
Other ways to wear: cobalt scarf and graphic tee, burgundy stripe tee and skinny jeans, chambray maxi skirt worn two ways, silver ballet flats and printed jeans, Rebecca Minkoff quilted Love bag and tweed jacket.

Love the longer cardi!
ReplyDeleteI love chambray anything. Fun to see both a dress and skirt option instead of the usual top. And I love that bag! I keep thinking I might buy it in black.

ReplyDeleteI really adore the striped top with the maxi skirt. I can see why you loved it so much. I also like the addition of the cobalt scarf. Happy weekend. x/Madison

Both of these looks are so cute--and I totally agree that chambray + stripes is such a great go-to combo! I have a chambray dress that I love and can't wait to wear once I'm bump-less, so I'm saving your first look for future inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteYey, glad I could give you some inspiration! :) Won't be long until you're back in your regular wardrobe!
DeleteI really love this red and white striped long-sleeved top on you, and thumbs up to the versatile Rebecca Minkoff bag!!

It does have the Chanel Boy bag vibe if you see it from a distance :)
DeleteI love that chambray dress on you - I am kicking myself now for not buying one last weekend ($25.00! What was I thinking?). I LOVE the skirt/striped top outfit - it's fabulous. I can tell you're feeling good in it.
ReplyDeleteOh you should have gone for it! I bet it would have looked amazing on you :)
DeleteI think both of these outfits are great! I've always wanted a chambray dress like that but that particular shape never suits me. I've never seen a chambray dress in any other silhouette, which is most disappointing. I particularly like the red stripes with that skirt, it looks cheerful yet chic!
ReplyDeleteHope you find your perfect chambray dress too! I enjoy wearing mine. A chambray shirt is next on my list, but like you and the dress I haven't found the perfect one yet.
DeleteBoth outfit are beautiful! I can't believe I don't own a chambray dress yet! I bet it's perfect for transitional weeks! I love how you styled yours.
ReplyDeleteThe second outfit is indeed gorgeous, the combination of the red stripes and that maxi skirt looks very fresh and cute! <3

A chambray dress is great for the transitional months, easy to layer up :)
DeleteI like that fun second look with the stripes- oh and of course there is the RB grey bag I wanted so much :(
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame you couldn't get this bag, but you did pick up another awesome one instead :)
DeleteThat second look is so cute! Love the striped top :)
ReplyDeleteThe bag is what I want! I really love both of your look. But my favourite is definitely the second one! I love maxi skirts and best part is they look still trendy!
ReplyDeleteI would love if you check out my blog! Thanks a lot.....

You look great in both of them, the second style is what I can most relate to.

I can see why you missed wearing that denim dress. It is such an adorable item! Sometimes wearing sth we didn't wear in a while can feel like wearing something for the first time...that's the benefit that comes with shopping our own closet. I love how you styled that first outfit. You always have the cuttest bags btw.
ReplyDeleteThe second outfit with the denim maxi skirt is just my cup of tea. I love maxi skirts...and I sure do like stripes. That stripd top is gorgeous! Plus, I really like how you coordinated colours by pairing that denim maxi with a blue scarf. Red, white and blue...is there anything more classic!!!

Thanks Ivana! Yes it's good to shop our own closets and find little worn pieces we can enjoy wearing again! :)
DeleteStripes are so classic yet fun, I love them on you!
ReplyDeleteBoth outfits are gorgeous.

They do go with so much - great layering pieces before it gets too cold (or too hot as we move further into spring here!).
DeleteLoving both outfits, especially the second one! The blue scarf goes so beautifully with the skirt, the outfit has a little bit of a marine feel to it which I absolutely love! You styled it beautifully as always, and I'm loving that elegant handbag. :) <3

DeleteI absolutely love both of these outfits!! The first one looks like something I'd wear often to school when the weather gets chillier. Love the booties with it, and what a pretty cardigan! And that second- that skirt just looks dreamy. I love it with the stripes! You're right- that's a great combination.

I've also been loving chambray lately! It's such a great fabric and I love its style most of the time. :) Also, one thing I love about your posts are the fact that you wear two different outfits of the same piece or at least of the same fabric or print ♥ Hope to hear from you soon!
