What I wore:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers (on sale!)
Necklace: Diva red stone necklaceTee: Atmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
Skirt: Asos maternity graphic print pencil skirt (non-maternity version here)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey
Why I wore it:
This was the first outfit for the Fox in Flats style challenge, the theme was 'stripes' so I thought the graphic stripe print on this pencil skirt worked well, especially when worn with my favourite grey tee.I added the red necklace for a bit of colour with the otherwise fairly monochrome outfit - and also as that was one of the tips the stylist gave me. If I insisted on keeping my grey tees (I did keep most of them...) then I should try to wear colourful accessories with them.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, grey tee, graphic print pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.
Other ways to wear: grey tee for casual Friday, graphic print pencil skirt and a black tank, studded mouse flats and denim shorts, casual SAHM outfits with Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.

Maternity pencil skirts under $50:
What I wore:
Necklace: pink beaded disc necklace (maybe Diva? Really old!)
Tee: Asos new forever grey tee (on sale!)
Skirt: Asos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs two tone flats in blush and black
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes twilly Kelly en Calèche tied as bracelet
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey
Why I wore it:
Again, going with the easy option of a grey tee and a printed pencil skirt. The style challenge for the day was 'new do' and as I'd got my hair cut the day before I just fell back on this simple outfit as the summer heat usually gets me feeling pretty uninspired and looking for easy options. That's why the DAREcember style challenge is so great, at a time I want to do nothing other than sit in the pool in a bikini, I'm encouraged to explore my wardrobe, try different things and have some fun with my clothes. I've shared more before about why I love instagram style challenges.I just wouldn't go do anything as permanent as actually get a new haircut for a challenge next time, I regretted the cut pretty quickly! Thankfully I still have some unshared pics with my longer hair as I figure out how to style the new length.
Last worn: grey tee, tartan pencil skirt, Hermes twilly, cap toe flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB (above).
Other ways to wear: grey tee layered up for winter, tartan pencil skirt and a ruffled cami, two tone flats and tights, Hermes twilly bow on a bag, Rebecca Minkoff MAM and a printed dress.
Asos is a great place to pick up some bargain pencil skirts that really last - I have skirts over 5 years old that are still going strong, and this is the second pregnancy for these maternity skirts! Plus you can get up to 70% off in their outlet.

I love both of your outfits; pencil skirts look great on you! I wish I could wear them, but I'm too short for them to look really nice haha. I love the bag too, it's so casual and cute! :)
ReplyDeleteSam | http://mybeautycloud.com
I'm a shortie too! :) I find some are too long on me but these asos ones are perfect :)
DeleteYour hair looks lovely - I love the new length!
ReplyDeleteI'm not one for t-shirts (too casual for my taste), but I do love both of these pencil skirts, particularly the top one. Such a fab pattern! And I agree, pops of colour really help break up all that grey! Looking great, Mica!
You manage to find the most stylish alternatives to tees! They are definitely a frequent fall-back for me :)
DeleteI think grey is versatile, and I don't believe in sticking to colors only that I know "flatter" me, I want to wear others as well sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThe new length will take some time getting accustomed to, but the way you did your hair here looks pretty, and tbh, I wouldn't have been able to tell you cut it if you hadn't mentioned it in the text.
Linda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
Thanks Linda! I think it's just that it feels so short rather than actually being short, if that make sense! Just had regret cutting it off after it was growing so nicely.
DeleteI love the casual look, grey is such a versatile colour! I think the handbag and jewellery you picked really adds more style and vibrancy to the outfit, great job as always! :) <3

Such lovely outfits! I like both your pencil skirts and the idea of wearing them with a tee shirt.
ReplyDeleteI think gray is a great color. And these monochromatic looks are awesome :D

The graphic print on that skirt is super cute and perfect for the style challenge!

Neutrals for the win! Always a good idea!
ReplyDeleteI think grey looks great on you! I too have multiple grey tees and yet I cannot seem to part with any of them. They are all different. ;)

Straight A Style
haha yes, I tell myself they are all different too, they really are! :)
DeleteI totally dig the whole outfit, but definitely am drawn to the skirt as my favorite piece! This is actually an outfit style I sort of wish was easier to pull off for me, I guess I've never found enough tops that look appropriately fitted enough...? All of my solid tops seem to be baggy here or there and result in the outfit not looking put-together enough without a cardigan or something, which isn't the point in the heat, Australian summer or no!
ReplyDeleteI think it's hard to find the perfect tops sometimes! These two are usually rally baggy, I prefer them that way, but in pregnancy they are a lot more fitted over the bump, haha!
DeleteYou look so wonderful dear :) I really like these printed skirts, so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteARedLip&Love
You look so adorable! The grey and blue with just that little pop of red is lovely. I'm sorry that you are not liking your new hair cut, but cannot wait to see how you decide to style it. ;-) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteGreat prints they look so nice on you :) You look amazing x

ReplyDeletei think grey look great on you! :)

The Color Palette
I love your hair, I think it's cute shorter! I have to disagree with the stylist here--I don't think you can go wrong with gray! But I do love how the bright necklaces pop against it. Also, I know I've said this before, but your maternity pencil skirts are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shea! I really like grey so I'm determined to 'make it work' haha! It was good to get some tips for how to do so :)
DeleteI do agree with you. Grey tops are very practical...Grey is often an underestimated colour. I personally find it to me very elegant, but I'm not sure it matches my skin tone. Maybe I need to find 'my shade'. They say everyone has a shade of every colour that is right for them.
ReplyDeleteYou look divine in both looks. I'm a big fan of pencil skirts and you wear them so well.
http://modaodaradosti.blogspot.ba/
Yes that's very true! I had my 'colours' done briefly and we could find a few pieces in my wardrobe that were perfect for my skintone.
DeleteGrey tops are a staple for me as well. Great outfits!

The new do looks great on you and both the skirts look lovely! I forgot to ask you, where are your clothes now that you have a new wardrobe?

All the clothes the baby bump has outgrown are stuffed into the wardrobe in the study, haha! I add more to it every day it seems....
DeleteI'm always regretting new haircuts afterwards as well, Mica! That's why I avoid my hairdresser, haha! I'm totally with you on grey tees, I'm the same. I have lots of white t-shirts but choose grey most of the time. Your first look is amazing, beautiful printed skirt. And look at your huge belly on #2. Are you getting a boy, dear? (If not a secret.) :) Take care!

haha yes I try not to go to the hairdresser too often as what seems like a good idea in the salon never seems right at home! :)
DeleteWill find out in March if it's a boy or a girl :)
I love the diagonal stripes on your first skirt and the splash of red. I like how you're showing off your figure! You look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I do tend to wear clingier styles when pregnant - because all my loose things become fitted over the bump, haha!
DeleteAbsolutely stunning skirts!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas!
Alena & http://garmentsspeech.blogspot.com/
Aw look at that bump! I also love grey. I don't know what it is but it really is a great color, it can be dressed up or down. Would love to see you at my linkup on Wednesday!

I haven’t worn a grey tshirt in awhile but this reminds me of a few I have and how much I used to love them. Need to again wear one! I love the monochrome with touches of colour here.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely wear your grey tees! You have such pretty skirts to pair them with! :)

You look lovely Mica! I'm still trying to figure out how to wear pencil skirts. For some reason they just aren't the most comfortable for me (well, skirts in general), but I love the way they look so I'm always on the search for the perfect pencil skirt.

Happy Holidays!
I love them for the office but I never find them comfortable or practical to wear outside of work! If you do find the perfect pencil skirt let me know!
DeleteLove both of your outfits, they're perfect for a chic on-duty look!

Grey is like black - it looks good on everyone, and is the perfect soft neutral to reach for. I'd be lost without my grey!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
I'd be lost without my grey tees too haha!
DeleteI think grey is such a perfect neutral color that is also quite underrated. Love both looks! Your skirt in the second look is my favorite!

I really like how you added some punch to these outfits with your bold print skirts and bright necklaces! Perfect for the office!
ReplyDeleteI think you could probably wear these same outfits, layered with a white button down shirt.. if you want to skip on the grey shade. I wonder what colors I would have to stay away from if I had a colour session like yours...
ReplyDeleteThe colour session was definitely interesting! I recommend it if you get a chance! :) I don't do white shirts, too clumsy, haha!
DeleteMica, I think you look awesome in grey! Especially DARKER shades of grey. Love how you paired it with black and prints.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
Thanks Kim. Darker greys are my friend, colour-wise! :)
DeleteLove the patterns of both skirts and you've paired them with such pretty necklaces too.

What are you talking about! I am loving the shorter too, especially how you've styled it with some soft waves. Plus I'm guessing the shorter length would be nice during the heat too! BTW I would die if I was told grey is not my colour. I love grey, I can't live without it plus it breaks up my usual plain white or black pieces ;o)

Yep I love grey too much to give it up either! :)
DeleteThe shorter length is nicer in the heat, but I'm definitely missing my longer hair. Hopefully it won't take long to grow back.
love the bright necklace against the gray!
