Two Ways To Wear Bright Tanks: Denim Shorts and Kimono, Black Jersey Maxi Skirt

Wearing some of my bright tanks! Blue and green today. I'll often pick up some of the Jeanswest tanks if they go on sale - they frequently have new colours and I like to have a little collection of bright tops I can layer with or wear on their own. I think a good collection of basic tanks is essential for someone who dresses so casually like I do. I need to actually use them and wear them though! I've been pushing myself to wear them more often, and not just have them as colourful 'decorations' in my wardrobe.

Here's what I wore to go shopping with DH and baby:
Choies red vintage pattern kimono blue tank denim shorts red bag

Marc By Marc Jacobs Rock lobster Lil Ukita Bag worn on shoulder
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
JacketChoies red vintage pattern kimono
NecklaceRoie Designs long freshwater pearl necklace with tassel
TankJeanswest 'Jenni' singlet in indigo blue (on sale here!)
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Casual weekend outfit, enjoying the the summer heat that's sticking around well into autumn in Brisbane. I actually wondered if the kimono might make me too warm for a while, it did get quite hot. I originally was going to wear a grey tank with this, and then I thought I'd try be a little different and pick a colourful one instead. I thought the blue tank worked nicely as there is blue in the print on the kimono. Worked well with the red bag too.

After going shopping in the morning, we ended going for a swim in the afternoon to cool down. Our pool is outdoors, so I tend to wait for really hot days to take baby T for a swim as he gets grouchy if the water is too cold! He's starting to get more enjoyment out of being in the water though, it's so good to see.

Last worn: Rayban Wayfarers, red kimono, blue tank, denim shortsHavaianas, Marc By Marc Jacobs Ukita bag.

Here's what I wore to go to playgroup with baby T today:

TankJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Emerald green
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs pretty nylon Eliz-A-Baby bag

Although I posted it a day late, this totally counts as a green outfit for St Patrick's day right? ha! I don't really have a lot of green in my wardrobe, it isn't one of my favourite colours and I don't really know what to wear it with (I tend to just wear it with black). I decided to give this green tank a wear as it's been a long time since I last wore it, I was (hugely!) pregnant last time. Although I don't reach for this green tank as much as the other ones that I own, it's still staying in my wardrobe because it's good to have another colour to wear now and then.

Really casual outfit as I was just going out to playgroup with baby. I didn't take the stroller this time, just the baby carrier, so I put all of my things in the baby bag again.

Last worn: green tank, black maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Marc by Marc Jacobs baby bag.

Summer Casual Denim Shorts and Printed Tops Outfits. Rebecca Minkoff Love and Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere

Here's what I wore to go out with baby T:

ShortsJeanswest black denim cuff shorts
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey

The style challenge for the day was to 'explore your wardrobe and wear a long lost friend'. I thought of this top right away! I discovered it during my big wardrobe clear out as we turned my wardrobe room into baby's nursery, and happily wore it during pregnancy as it accommodated the bump. I haven't worn it for a little while since, so I am hoping to keep wearing it and not let it get lost in my wardrobe again. It is one of those pieces that is quite limited by how you can wear it, as it really only looks good with skinny jeans. But I have so many fond memories with this top, it's a real oldie and I am not ready to let it leave my wardrobe yet.

Although it does look best with jeans, it looked like it was going to be a hot day that morning, so I put on some shorts as baby and I headed out to the books and rhymes session at the local library. On our way home after getting the groceries, it started to rain. It actually felt quite cold in the afternoon, I wished I had worn jeans!

Here's what I wore to catch up with my mother's group:

Had a busy morning! Baby T and I had some appointments to get to, and my mother's group was having their first catch-up of the new year. The style challenge for the day was to 'wear something that best represents your personality'. I'll admit, I had no idea what to do for that prompt! So I snapped a pic of my bracelet stack. My wrist was layered with a variety of bracelets, some small and dainty, some big and bold, some inspirational, the same ones I wear every day and that have sentimental value....I felt that mixed bag summed up my personality!

I'm trying to review all of my new purchases after I wear them, to be more thoughtful with what I'm buying and how it works with my current lifestyle and wardrobe. You can read more about why I'm doing this here.

This is the second wear of my new printed tank too, so my purchase review:
I'm glad I bought this. I love the print, and even though it's not my usual size I think it looks okay oversized. It works with maxi skirts, although does look better with denim. Still something I can see myself wearing in a few ways, maybe even with pencil skirts when I go back to work this year. I'm pleased I bought it. Not something I needed to buy, just something I wanted to buy, but still something that will get worn often.

Last worn: Wayfarers (see above), printed tank, denim shorts, Balenciaga studded sandals, Louis Vuitton Speedy B.

Peplum Tank, Lace Pencil Skirt, MbMJ Bags, Myer Giftorium

Just one outfit today as it's a bit of a wordy post! Sharing what I wore to a blogger event at Myer Brisbane:
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
NecklaceRoie Designs pearl and antique gold long necklace
TopZalora basics ruffle hem tank in black (on sale)
SkirtLiving Doll Wednesday black lace skirt
Shoes: Wittner 'Bolla' black bow detail flats
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster and Marc by Marc Jacobs pretty nylon Eliz-A-Baby bag

You might have seen on instagram or twitter that I was invited along to view the Myer Giftorium last week. The best part was that baby T was invited along too! Although too young to appreciate the magicians or the jugglers, he did enjoy seeing his first live band we were treated to some Christmas carols. I also indulged in a little bit of Christmas shopping. I have so little time to shop now, as I want to spend all my time with baby T, so I figure getting a head start on gifts is a good idea! Even though it is only October....

I wasn't sure what to wear to such an event - I knew I'd have baby T in his stroller for the majority of the time (although I did bring his baby carrier just in case!) so I was rather free to pick what I wanted to wear. I'd wanted to pair this ruffle detail tank top with my maxi skirts when I bought it, but it's just not a flattering look. I thought with a pencil skirt, it looked a lot better!

This pretty lace skirt is one of the skirts I'd put away into a box of "for after baby" clothes that I'd been adding to as I outgrew things in my wardrobe during pregnancy. While there are some things I still don't fit into, I'd put aside a lot of skirts that do fit me again now, and it's perfect weather to start wearing them! Worked out really well! Added the red bag for some colour, and also as it allowed me easy access to my camera even while cuddling baby T.

As it's the second time I've blogged this tank since I purchased it, my purchase review:
While it is something that's fairly limited in what I can pair it with due to the length on my petite frame, I like this tank enough to be glad I purchased it. It's just a little different from a plain black tank with the ruffle hem detail, so it's sure to get lots of wear. I'm pleased I had so many useful items in my monthly purchases this time around, I'm getting closer to my shopping goals.

Now a little bit about the Giftorium!

The Myer Giftorium is set up so that you can do lots of Christmas shopping in one place - they have the area organised into "12 themes of Christmas" to cover everyone on your list. I took some photos of my favourite themes below. Fashionista, Glmaour Gran, Dapper Dad, Miracle Mum....There was even a 'Paws Corner' for shopping for Cooper! They have 'Gifticians' who will help you find the perfect gift if you're stuck for ideas, and 'Producticians' to demonstrate some of the gifts.

Myer have public launch celebrations for the Giftorium on Saturday the 8th November in all stores, with the biggest range and events lined up for the stores in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Definitely worth checking out, even if it's only for soaking up the Christmas spirit!

39 Weeks Pregnant. Tank and Maxi Skirt, RM Mini MAC | Evening Wear: Zara Blazer, Printed Dress, Vintage Chanel Bag

Here's what I wore on Thursday:

Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC with python embossed leather in aquamarine

Don't think I've ever worn this necklace on the blog before! Another find from my wardrobe clear-outs. I found a lot of neglected jewellery hiding away. Thought that the detail would be nice with the plain tank.

Just a comfortable casual outfit as I had to run a few errands on Thursday morning. I'm using my maternity leave to tick off all of my to-do list before baby arrives, but I'm taking it slowly and spreading it all out over the week so I'm still finding plenty of time to relax too. Thought the green of the top and the blue of the aqua bag paired nicely.

After spending the day shopping with my sister today, I went out with DH to celebrate our wedding anniversary this evening. We had dinner and a movie, celebrating our last anniversary where we don't have to arrange a baby sitter ;)

You can see a little peek of what I wore during the day out shopping on instagram if you're interested. Just a plain grey tank, and black jersey maxi skirt with a striped cardi for warmth. We came across a Priceline event and got free makeovers which was nice as it meant I was really dolled up for the evening.

Took these photos before the makeover sadly! Wanted to show you what I wore out for dinner instead of just another maxi skirt and tank combo, to show that it is possible to get dressed up even at 39 weeks pregnant! Although it did take me quite some time to find something to wear this morning... Thanks to baby dropping, I had just enough breathing room to wear this empire waist non-maternity maxi dress. I had to stick with a maxi dress as my feet were too swollen to fit into any shoes, and the dress hides the thongs (flip flops) I have on underneath. As relaxed as we are in Queensland, most restaurants require you to wear something a little more substantial on your feet!

Last worn: snake print maxi dress, Havaianas (see above), vintage Chanel flap. First time I've worn the blazer as it's a recent op-shop find.

Bit of a rush to take photos Monday morning as it started to shower as soon as I stepped out the door. Cooper wasn't having any of it and wanted to run back inside when he got rained on, so he's missing from the photos. Although I did snap one pic of his grumpy little face that I shared on instagram.

When I bought this shirt last year, it was labelled as both a regular shirt and a maternity shirt, something I missed when I bought it. Grateful for it now with the growing baby bump! :) The longer sleeves were nice for the cooler morning too, had even considered a scarf.

This is one of the tops I found in one of my wardrobe clear outs. After moving it to the front of my wardrobe for a while, it still remained unworn so I was about to add it to the donate pile when DH mentioned he liked it too much for me to give it away. I used to wear it a lot when we were dating. I remember buying it on our first trip to Melbourne together, after I went shopping for the afternoon while DH caught up with one of his mates. It looks great with jeans, but after changing jobs to an office where I don't wear denim every day it's gotten no wear for years. Found an old photo of me wearing it to work in 2007!

Figured I'd at least wear the top one more time before deciding if I should donate it or not. Glad I decided to keep it, I had 3 people come up to me today to tell me how beautiful it looked. And one lady who refused to believe I'd bought it from Cotton On and not somewhere more expensive, haha! Might have to keep it in the wardrobe a little longer.

Last worn: Jeanswest maternity black jeans, MbMJ metallic mouse flats, Balenciaga red velo (see above). First time I've worn this top on the blog.

Stood in front of my wardrobe trying to find something to wear for quite a while, in the end decided to go simple and wear a dress. Haven't worn this one for a couple months, and figured I should wear it before the fitted waist gets too restrictive to wear. Ended up adding a lot of pink accessories too, just seemed like the easiest choice. Had to facilitate a big meeting Tuesday afternoon so simple and comfortable was a winner.

I really like this beautiful statement necklace paired with stripes, I've worn it that way a lot. My bestie always gets me incredible gifts! :)

Thank you for all of your advice and suggestions in my last post when I asked about wearing pencil skirts in pregnancy! Today I decided to try the skirt with the top tucked in, next time I'll have to try some of the other suggestions like shorter tops and belts.

Had wanted to try and recreate this outfit pairing today, but although the skirt has an elasticated waistband, it's just not got enough give in it to accommodate the belly. I changed it for this asos maternity skirt instead. The combination of the print on the skirt and the tucked in top really seemed to emphasise the bump. It generated a lot of attention today and every now and then made me think I might have been better off wearing the tee untucked. It's fun being able to try different things and learning different ways to dress during pregnancy though. I'm grateful for every day as I know it will be no time at all until the bump is gone and I'm cradling baby in my arms :)

Red Printed Top, Black Skinny Jeans, Balenciaga Coquelicot Velo | Stripe Tank, Maxi Skirt, Bal Sorbet City Bag

Here's what I wore to work on Monday:
black skinny pants printed tank for the office red balenciaga bag

NecklaceDogeared 3 Wishes stardust bead necklace layered with Dogeared silver wishbone necklace
Tank: gifted Emerson crochet lace bib print top

BagBalenciaga Coquelicot Velo

Bought these jeans a while back with my last Jeanswest sale purchase. I had tried them on in store early on after outgrowing my previous jeans, and knew that they would easily pass for plain black pants at work throughout the pregnancy. A stressful Monday full of meetings seemed like the best time to wear them!

This top is a new arrival too, my mum kindly bought it for me on our recent shopping trip. It has plenty of wiggle room for the bump. Had originally kept it as a new red top for our Chinese New Year dinner, but as I didn't wear it then I thought I'd wear it Monday.

Last worn: black flats, Balenciaga coquelicot velo bag. First time I've worn the top and pants.

Here's what I wore today:

Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
BagBalenciaga RH classic city in 2010 sorbet

Worked from home today as I had a check up with the doctor to monitor baby T's progress. Picked a simple casual outfit to wear. Elastic waist maxi skirts are incredibly comfortable for the bump, a tip I picked up from a colleague a while back. Expect to see a lot more maxi skirts over the coming months!

I haven't yet figured out how to wear the rest of my non-elasticated skirts though, they either have to sit above or below the bump, making them too short or in danger of falling down, haha. Do I need to put all of my fixed waist skirts in the "after baby arrives" storage box, or is there some trick I'm missing to be able to wear them with a bump? Let me know if you have any experience or tips! :)

Spent a lot of time on Thursday evening trying to plan my Friday outfit. We had a team event on Friday afternoon and had the option to dress up, but I decided to just wear normal bump-disguising clothes instead. It took a long time to find something!

My new Jeanswest maternity jeans arrived and are perfect in every way, so wore them and this printed cami as the flowing style hides the baby bump quite well I thought. Well, hides it better than any of my other tops could, haha. I tried on most of them!

Last worn: blue sunnies, polka dot cami, MbMJ mouse flats, Balenciaga tempete day bag. First time I've worn the jeans as they are a new purchase.

We were supposed to have a BBQ today, but sadly had to postpone it because the rain for the past few days had drenched the back yard. There was a lot more rain today too. Ended up spending more time with my mum and sister, we took the chance to go shopping before our afternoon movie.

Wanted something nice and comfortable suitable for trying on clothes, and my new singlet works well with the black maxi skirt. I picked up a few singlets in the Jeanswest sale along with the maternity jeans :)

On Wednesday I worked from home. I wore a simple dress to keep cool, although I did end up needing the air conditioning quite early on in the morning! It was easily the hottest day of the week! Managed to take Cooper a walk before the big storm came by, although it didn't tire him out a lot and he was still a bit scared by the loud thunder.

I am beginning to conclude that empire waist tops are not helping me hide the baby bump, haha. My friend sent me a message at work asking if anyone had approached me as the bump looked particularly large today! Don't think I'll be hiding baby for much longer from my colleagues.

This top is another wardrobe find, from the small pile of clothes I spoke about on Monday. It used to be one of my favourite tops. Had a look and there are a couple of photos of me wearing it in 2009 so I'm guessing I got it around then, 5 years ago! It's going to be great over the coming months as it's very comfy.

Striped Maxi Dress, Louis Vuitton Neverfull | Black Top, Asos Graphic Pencil Skirt, Balenciaga Sorbet City Bag

If you haven't seen it already, you might want to watch my latest short video or this post may raise a few questions, haha! Thank you for all of your kind words and congratulations on the reveal post!

Here's what I wore on Sunday:
three dots striped maxi dress second trimester baby bump non maternity dress

BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Simple maxi dress for the weekend. Although I've worn this bag and dress together before, repeated the combo again on Sunday as I had to cart some paperwork around. The neverfull is a great bag for that!

This dress highlights the bump a little. I'm really glad I don't have to hide it now that I've spilled the beans! :) We wanted to keep the secret to ourselves for a while, and to have the joy of surprising our families on Christmas day. It was a really wonderful Christmas! Telling all of our friends and family was so exciting, and we were so pleased to share our happiness with them. I also thought it best to tell my boss before I posted anything online about it.

Last worn: Rayban, stripe maxi dress, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton damier Neverfull.

While I've told my boss and the relevant managers know for planning reasons, I haven't shared the news with everyone else at work yet, for a handful of reasons that I won't go into. As a result, I'm minimising the bump as much as possible in my office wear, despite how pleased and happy I am to see it progress! My latest Asos sale purchases were maternity work wear like today's pencil skirt, to help with appropriate office dressing.

I'm also throwing a waterfall cardi on top while I'm in the office, instead of my usual straight line cardi. I think the drape makes a difference. When I did quietly share the news with one of my friends in the office, she confessed that she had noticed one afternoon and just thought I'd gained a little weight, so hopefully everyone who notices anything is thinking that and I can keep things under wraps for a little longer. ;)

For the immediate future, the blog will be a mix of minimising the bump for the office, and dressing as I please on the weekends. Baby will be mentioned from time to time, as it is at the point where the bump influences what I can wear, but I don't intend to turn this blog into anything other than a daily outfit blog. You can always email me or leave a comment if you want to know anything baby-specific! :)

As it was a little rainy on Friday morning I added the denim jacket to keep warm on the way to work.
It's been over a year since I last wore this dress, I didn't realise it had been so long! I mainly wear it in summer, but I think I'm going to get more use out of it this year, so I'm keeping it in my wardrobe for now. Maybe I can even try layering it for winter. If I don't get more wear out of it though, it will definitely be leaving my wardrobe. Need to be a lot stricter with what I keep in my wardrobe.

Last worn: Raybans, denim jacket, French Connection stripe dress, Wittner black flats, Alexander Wang Rocco bag.

Here's what I wore today:
DressAsos drape tank in space dye fabric (on sale, extra 10% off with code 'JAN10')
Skirt: Vintage black pleated midi skirt from my Mum's closet
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC

Something a little different today, a video OOTD instead of a photo. I kept it short, so it's just over a minute long. And I added a little surprise at the end too! Hope you enjoy, leave me a comment and let me know what you think :)

Last worn: pleated maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC. First time I've worn the top as it's a recent purchase.
