What I wore:
Necklace: Tai gold alphabet necklaces
Dress: Atmos&Here Betsy jersey wrap dress in watercolour print (on sale!)Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots (on sale!)
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather
Why I wore it:
This dress was perfect for the 'it's a wrap' style challenge prompt, although I didn't wear it on the same day. I wore this for toddler T's second birthday! It's hard to believe he's 2 already, he's growing so fast. For his first birthday party, we kept things simple and did everything ourselves. Despite thinking I wouldn't be able to do the same this time with a baby as well, we managed to pull it off. It did mean a busy week as I did some baking in advance, but it was worth it as both boys enjoyed the party.I knew I wanted to wear this dress for toddler T's party. It's strange seeing it without a baby bump though, after buying it in the third trimester. As I hoped when I bought it, it will still get lots of wear post-baby. A wrap dress is a classic!
Last worn: printed wrap dress, ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff aquamarine mini MAC.
Other ways to wear: printed wrap dress in the third trimester, ankle boots and red jeans, Rebecca Minkoff aquamarine mini MAC and skinny jeans.
What I wore:
Dress: Jeanswest Nikki printed shirt dress
Shoes: Asos Cleo leather boots in tan
Bag: Mulberry regular Alexa bag in foggy grey
Why I wore it:
This dress is another one I bought when I was pregnant. However, this is it's first wear despite having the 'wear everything twice in a month after buying it' rule. In the 2 years I've had that rule, this is the only piece that's sat there new with tags in my wardrobe after a month. Since I bought it in November I really should have worn it before now... I'd bought it in the second trimester, tried it on and while it was snug, I could still fit into it, so set it aside to wear in a few days. By the tine I got around to wearing it though the bump didn't fit into it! A baby belly grows so quickly in the second trimester, I really should have sized up.Every pregnancy is different, and every experience post-baby is different too. While with toddler T I was back into normal clothes and button up shirts quite quickly, with baby boy things are a little bigger in the chest area! It means that while in theory this button up shirt dress is perfect for breastfeeding, I had to wait until things calmed down a little before I was able to squeeze myself into it! Glad I've been able to wear it now at least - it's easy to layer up for winter despite being from the Jeanswest spring range.
Last worn: yellow scarf, tall boots, Mulberry Alexa bag. First time I've worn the dress as it's the first time I've fit into it!
Other ways to wear: yellow scarf and a red dress, tall boots and skinny jeans, Mulberry Alexa bag and a maxi dress.

Yes they were good purchases :)
DeleteI really like that second dress on you, it such a lovely winter piece (with layering lol, though in Brisbane you probably won't need to do much!). And paired with those boots, just stunning. BTW I can't believe toddler T is 2! What! My friends son turned 2 two months back now. It's crazy how time flies!

The second look is my favorite. I tried to only buy things Id be able to wear after the pregnancy as well, and they really come in handy in those transitioning times before you are back to pre-pregnancy weight.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
Yes the postpartum days can be tricky coming up with things to wear - it's nice to have things that accommodated the belly well to rely on! :)
DeleteLove the wrap dress. A good wrap dress puts me in a good mood haha!

Both pieces look fab on you:) Wrap dresses are so versatile and stylish, eh? So cool you can wear it before and after pregnancies.I wish I invested in pieces like this when I was pregnant. I think by the time our third child came, I was just living in leggings and loose tops...oh wait, I still wear these!:D
ReplyDeleteYep, wrap dresses are classics! It's nice to get a little dressed up in them too :)
DeleteI love both of these fun dresses, especially the wrap dresses. I love seeing that the wrap dress is just as cute post-baby--maybe I need to pick up one like that to wear now and later! Now that I'm over halfway done with this pregnancy I really need to focus on buying things that will work after the baby comes as well. Thanks for all the inspiration for both maternity and post-maternity style!!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could give you some inspiration - I think you're having a very stylish pregnancy! :) Pieces that work in pregnancy and after are good purchases for sure! :)

Thank you Mili. He had a wonderful birthday :)
DeleteLove both dress on you, Mica. I had a trouble with clothes when I was pregnant with Little Tyke, I couldn't fit into any pregnancy clothes because most were too big on me, even the smallest size so I stick to purchasing normal clothes but in size M or L. Wish I've thought of a wrap dress, that would suits many body shapes and sizes.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
Yes I found regular clothes fit me well in pregnancy too, didn't need too many maternity pieces :) And buying my normal size means I can enjoy them post-baby too! :)
DeleteGlad to kept that dress/tunic - because it made possible that look :)
ReplyDeleteJust like my houndstooth dress, sometimes you got to wait until the time is right.
Yes, very true! Sometimes you can't wear it right away!
DeleteBirthday parties are work LOL But I bet you did a fabulous job Mica. How time flies! I can't believe he's 2 already! I love both outfits. So smart to purchase clothes that would work for you after your pregnancy. Smart :D

DeleteFrom a reader stand point, I feel like you got your body back quite fast after baby number 2. I think you have a very practical way of shopping. I've learned a lot from you in the almost two years I've been following your blog. Need to get on the wrap dress train though, I feel like those would work so well for the office!
ReplyDeleteYes wrap dresses are great for the office :) I'm definitely not back to my pre-baby body but I'm happy with the slow and steady progress to my new 'normal', whatever that will look like in the end :)

It sounds like you did some smart shopping whilst pregnant! I love the wrap dress! When I was pregnant I bought some maternity items in my third semester because nothing else fitted anymore (I was pregnant with twins) but they totally didn't suit post pregnancy, so they were rather a waste of money unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI bought a few maternity specific pieces near the end too! I wore them so much I definitely got my money's worth, and my friend is really happy with them now :)
DeleteI never considered wearing maternity clothes post-pregnancy too! What a great idea, especially for a piece you love, and you can't even tell. You look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVia Sora || instagram · twitter · pinterest · bloglovin
These are non-maternity pieces which is probably why they don't look like maternity ones :)
DeleteLove both looks with perfectly teamed bags. Like the look of those brown boots too, I'm still on the hunt for a good long (but not too long) pair in the right shade of brown.
ReplyDeleteThese were a great sale buy a few years ago! Long boots are tricky being petite, I'm glad I stumbled across these :)
DeleteLove the watercolour print of the first dress! Very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteBoth great outfits and really loving the yellow scarf.

The boobs are so changeable throughout the day aren't they? You start off fitting perfectly and end the day busting out of your tops. I do really like the dress.
ReplyDeletehaha I find them at their largest in the morning after baby boy's longer stretch of sleep overnight. They do seem to change a lot though, especially in the early days! :)
