Cotton On "The One" Tees and Soft Shorts With Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag

Last Christmas my mum got me a pink "The One" tee from Cotton On. Since then I've added quite a few more to my wardrobe! I love the range of colours, the fact that they are often on sale, soft, made with 20% recycled cotton and wash and wear well. With working from home and no longer needing to go into an office I'm embracing tees almost every day so these have been good purchases for me! I picked up these two clay coloured ones in the Cotton On sale for boxing day, reduced to $7.99 each. Plus I had a $10 rewards voucher so I ended up getting both together for just $5.98! Bargain! With the summer heat, I wore them for the first time with some cute soft pull-on shorts.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a working from home day, a rather stressful first day back after 4 weeks of leave over Christmas and new years. I don't usually dress up for a work from home day, sticking with loungewear or pyjamas but I was also spending time with my mum and sister in the afternoon, since our 3 day lockdown was thankfully lifted at the end of the 3 days! Simple shorts and tee for a busy day full off meetings while trying to get my brain back into work gear and catch up on everything I missed while I was away.

I really like colour of this tee. "Washed red clay" is a good description and it went so nicely with the black printed shorts, another summer staple for me. I wasn't sure the almond colour of the Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag would work with this at first, but when I tried it I thought it was a good neutral with the reddish tee. I didn't need to carry much so it was a good bag choice!

Why I wore it:

I wore this outfit during Brisbane's 3 day lockdown, before the outfit above. While I was mostly at home, we were allowed to leave the house for exercise, so after watching the premier's morning update on restrictions and case numbers I took the chance to be the one to take the kids and Cooper out for a walk along a neighbourhood trail, and give hubby a bit of quiet at home. With the new mask guidelines I did have to wear a mask the entire time I was out the house, which was not the most comfortable thing on a walk on a humid day, but we weren't out long. We saw so many other masked dog walkers trying to get out before the day heated up too much too. Thankfully the boys understood the need to not pat all the dogs and try keep our distance. Cooper of course was too excited to see other dogs, but we have a pretty long leash to let them do their little doggy meet and greet 😂

With the terracotta stripes on this tee I wasn't sure if it would bee too Christmas-y with the olive shorts, but I think the stripes are small enough and on the terracotta side enough that it was a nice pairing together. I may repeat this around December though and make it more festive with more red! As I didn't need to carry much, just my phone and hand sanitiser with me on the walk, this little Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag was perfect, and everything was comfortable enough to wear when relaxing with the kids back at home too. Simple and comfortable for a very quiet Sunday at home.

How You Can Wear It:

Shorts and tee is the most basic of wardrobe staples. For something a little different you can try adding a print, like I have with the printed shorts in the first outfit or the striped tee in the second outfit. So easy to do but changes up a staple outfit a little.

  4. I seem to always be looking for t-shirts that fit right and are made from good material/fabric so I clearly need to check these ones out - having a good supply of them seems pretty critical while working from home.

  7. I love the colour of that tee on you, Mica! Considering how much you wear tees, it's definitely worth it to buy really good quality ones. Love the bag - I notice you often show them unzipped. Do you carry them that way, or is there a reason you show then open? Just curious. :)

Glad you were able to get out with the boys and Cooper. We're on a semi-lockdown (no socializing outside your household at all) and lining up a vaccine schedule soon, likely in the next couple of months. I'm about to head out to get groceries, followed by a 7K walk, and I'll be wearing a mask the whole time (over 2.5 hours). I've gotten used to it, but my mask is soaked by the time I get home!

    1. I rarely if ever zip up my bags. I know I should be more careful and zip them up, but I'm not in a lot of crowded places and when they are crossbody they are worn right next to me so no-one could get in without me noticing anyway!
I'm impressed you can still exercise in your mask! It's hard work walking with one on!

  8. I love the print on your shorts in the first photo! Glad your 3-day lockdown is up, and I hope you don't have to go through another one, friend! I am hoping that things will get so much better this year.

    1. Yes I'm hoping we don't have any more this year and things are safer - but whatever it takes to keep our case rate at zero is a good thing!

  9. Great outfits. Have a tab open for the link to the clay tee. My favorite clay colored tee bit the dust. Need a replacement and really like the way yours fits. That is a darling camera bag. I like the color and the size. And the fun tassel. Your stripes and olive shorts don't read Christmas at all to me. Really cute.

  10. Hello Mica, I hope you're having a good start of the year!

I used to have a lot of pieces by Cotton On, but the brand is difficult to find in Europe, but this is the best for basic pieces that can survive in your wardrobe for many seasons!

I love both options and the best part is that you got them for a reduced price! I bet they are your best allies during spring / summer.

Oooh and that bag is lovely, you have a great collection!

Hope you're staying safe, even if we are lockdown is crucial to stay stylish but comfortable, but good to know you're able to take a walk :)

  12. I love soft t-shirt, and the fact that the company uses recycled cotton is amazing because I love sustainability. I feel you because while I haven't bought these shirts, I have been buying a few more comfortable clothes for being home in. That also seems like such a great deal. I really liked the outfit, I like how the shirt looks classy and worn but new at the same time, which is probably where the name of it came from. It sucks that yall have to wear mask now but at least you weren't out long, because it's so hot in sun when you have to wear a mask.

  21. Washed red clay is a very apt description of that tee's colour indeed, and I think it's absolutely gorgeous! Your first outfit, therefore, is my favourite. Celebrating Christmas in Summer is such an alien concept for me that I'm not really associating your second outfit with Christmas!
I'm glad to hear you were able to take the boys and Cooper out for a walk. I'm hearing you on the mask wearing though. We only have to wear them in shops, shopping streets and whenever it's busy! Wishing you a great weekend, Mica! xxx
