2 Ways To Wear Cotton On's The One Stripe Tee & Weekday Wear Linkup

When the cold winter weather arrived in Brisbane the other week I was a little surprised to see that many of the clothes that had fit the boys so well last winter had been outgrown this year! Since I wasn't up to facing the crowds at the stores with so many people not following social distancing guidelines, I put an order in online at Cotton On for them. I had a discount voucher too and given how many tees I've been wearing of late, I used it to snap up this striped "The One" tee for myself. "The One" tee is from the Better Tees range: so it supports sustainably sourced cotton, and includes 20% recycled cotton!

My mum got me a pink tee in this same style for Christmas. I love it, so when I saw it was available in a stripe and on sale I just had to get that too. Not bad for $13.99 ($3.99 if you don't count the $10 rewards voucher I used on it!). It's the first fashion purchase I've made in a couple months and so I was eager to wear it right away. Plus with the schools reopen now I have a reason to leave the house and wear my new tee!

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted black Emerson drawstring waist utility jacket
Necklace: navy and silver circle pendant tassel necklace
TeeCotton On "The One" fitted v tee in Cole stripe white moonlight (new purchase)
Jeans: thrifted Emerson red skinny jeans
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

This was a very simple outfit, really an autumn version of this one I wore to a picnic a couple of weeks before, with the extra jacket. I like wearing these thrifted red skinny jeans with stripes, it's a good combo so this was the first outfit that came to mind when I thought about buying this striped tee.

The black drawstring waist jacket I put over the top was an opshopfind too. It was just $1 and so I had to have it! Like the red skinny jeans it's originally from the Emerson brand at Big W too before it was donated.

The only thing I didn't like about this outfit was that the buttons keeping the cuffed sleeves up kept coming undone, but I put that down to me being in a rush that morning to get out the door on time and not taking care to button the sleeves up properly. I hope that wasn't why it was donated! I didn't seem to have those issues the other time I wore the jacket though thankfully.

Perfect for pregnancyLouis Vuitton speedy bandouliere in third trimester.

Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt

Why I wore it:

This black maxi skirt, yet another $1 opshop find, was overdue a wear and I knew the plain black would work with this Cotton On striped tee so well. As it was a colder day I added the denim moto jacket, but even with the added colour from the blue Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag and jacket this outfit felt like it was missing a little something.

The green necklace was the perfect solution for a little extra touch of colour, and just like the first time I wore this tee I thought it was perfect. Definitely glad I added this to my admittedly large tee collection, I can see why they call it "The One". I'm hoping it's a regular product so I can buy it when it comes out in more colours!

I did think this outfit (like the one above) would have been much better with ankle boots rather than my daggy sneakers, but with the school drop off and then spending time walking around the neighbourhood with my youngest I needed something to support my injured knee.

Last worn: moto denim jacket, green statement necklace, striped tee (above), black maxi skirt, New Balance sneakers (above), Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC.

Other ways to wearmoto denim jacket and tee dress, black maxi skirt at Disneyland, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in monochrome outfit.

Where To Buy Cotton On The One Tee:

You can pickup this tee in v neck or crew neck style.

How To Wear It:

A Striped tee is a wardrobe staple and pairs well with both jeans and maxi skirts. With the neutral black and white stripes, it's easy to add a little more colour to your outfit with colourful accessories or a bright pair of jeans.

  9. Both looks are gorgeous - and I adore that jean jacket. It looks so stunning! Also, it is scary to hear that people aren't really social distancing. I'm seeing that where I live as well. People have really started to slack on taking personal responsibility and it's terrifying. Sigh! Anyway, I hope that you have a wonderful week.

  34. These are both solid outfits, Mica, but my heart belongs to the red skinny pants with the striped. The jacket is great, as is the denim one. If the buttonholes are too big, you could tighten them up slightly with a quick couple of stitches - it's not hard.

Isn't it funny how fast kids outgrown clothes? My brother told me there was a big line for a kids' clothing store in front of their apartment once the shops reopened after the quarantine. I think shops are never completely safe as many people forget about social isolating- so buying online makes perfect sense.
