Floral Swing Dresses and Autumn Layers With Red Rebecca Minkoff Micro Avery Bag

It's always so nice when cooler weather arrives in Brisbane and I can start to layer. Sometimes in autumn you need an extra layer when wearing a dress, and I've worn two floral dresses below slightly layered for the colder mornings.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

This dress is one that I love but so rarely wear! The statement sleeves look so pretty but they don't make mum life easy as they frequently get in the way. Decided to wear this out to church in the morning, after everyone had breakfast as I didn't feel like making porridge making and attempting to clean up the breakfast bowls after with the long bell sleeves! 😂

I had considered ankle boots with this but decided on ballet flats instead - the black flats go nicely with the black leggings and I felt quite cosy on a cold morning. As well as matching the shoes and leggings together, I picked my mustard tassel earrings to match the dress. The bag was a bit of a different choice - the floral print is more burgundy - but I really liked the autumnal combination of mustard and cherry red together.

Last worn: mustard tassel earrings, mustard floral swing dress, coin necklace, black leggings, black ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery tote bag.

Why I wore it:

Another floral swing dress! Again, I stuck with the Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery bag, although this time it perfectly matched the floral print on the dress. It's not the first time I've worn this dress with a denim jacket, it's a nice layer for autumn and it turned into such a nice day I took the jacket off in the middle of it.

This was a pretty outfit for the busy day. The grandparents watched the boys for a little bit while I popped to the doctors for an uncomfortable but necessary appointment (get your pap smear regularly!).

Wile the bag matched the floral print, the blush necklace was a last minute addition. Although I wasn't sure about the pink and red together, I really liked the rose gold on the necklace matching the gold hardware on the micro Avery bag. Ended up loving the combination!

How You Can Wear It:

A floral swing dress isn't just for spring or summer! You can make them work into autumn too with a few extra layers for cooler mornings - a denim jacket and ankle boots, or a cosy pair of leggings.

  3. Mica, I love that second dress from Shein - it is so pretty! It's funny how little things like sleeves get in the way when we're busy moms. I love that first dress too and I'm glad you were able to wear it.

  4. Statement sleeves are definitely hard to work with (although I have a great fondness for them) - I just love that mustard printed dress so much and the sleeves definitely add a lot to it. It's also just an insanely lovely colour.

  5. I just love the color of the yellow dress. I have that same issue with some statement sleeves. You might be able to shorten those and take off that ruffle on the bottom to make it more functional!!!
Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend, Mica,

I love how versatile it is with different outfits and you don't need to wear a specific color. I like that the floral swing dresses are super affordable! I need to buy some for the spring!!
