Thrifted Outfits: Printed Tees and Maxi Skirts With New Rebecca Minkoff Bags

I think these outfits sum up my style perfectly! Thrifted maxi skirts and tees, with some splurge-worthy bags. Because why spend a lot on clothes when you could put that money towards the bag budget instead? 😂

I've been thrifting a lot more in recent years - it was helped by having an opshop (thrift store) right next to the playgroup we went to weekly. Although it's now closed down it helped me see that I could maybe swing 10-15 minutes to browse if there were some toys around for the boys to play with! I've been looking further afield at different opshops to find a nice replacement store, which of course has lead to buying things as I browsed! It's meant I could pull these outfits together really cheaply (if you don't count the cost of the bags I accessorised with!)

What I wore:

Rebecca Minkoff Edie small crossbody bag in magenta | awayfromtheblue

Tee: thrifted Kmart abstract blob print tee
Skirt: thrifted Crossroads black ruffle hem maxi skirt (new purchase)
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie small crossbody bag in magenta (new purchase)

Why I wore it:

This skirt is recently purchased - both it and the tee were only $1 each. While I do already have a black drawstring waist maxi skirt, it doesn't have the ruffled hem and does have splits up each side which limits when I can wear it. I can see this working for cooler weather with some ankle boots, and being petite I wasn't going to turn down a perfect length maxi skirt for just $1. I suspect it may have been altered before to suit its previous equally short owner!

The perfect outfit for a busy day. First wearing of my new Rebecca Minkoff Edie cross body bag too. I scored this in the January sales, and while it took a few weeks to arrive it was worth the wait! Wore this to a birthday party at McDonalds in the morning and then watching church online at my friends house in the evening.

With the bold abstract print on the tee and the bright cross body bag, I didn't feel this outfit needed a necklace.

Last worn: abstract print tee, Havaianas. First time I've worn the ruffle maxi skirt and Edie bag too as they are recent purchases.

Other ways to wear abstract print tee and denim shorts.

What I Bought In January And February - Opshop Haul:

What I wore:

space dye tee and mixed print maxi skirt opshopped outfit thrift finds and rebecca minkoff bag | away from blue

mixed print thrifted maxi skirt and Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag in almond | away from the blue

Necklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Tee: thrifted Mix Apparel black marle tee
Skirt: thrifted tribal print maxi skirt
ShoesNovo Tawny rose gold sandals
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag in almond

Why I wore it:

Another completely thrifted outfit if you exclude the accessories! This tee was even cheaper than the one above, working out to just 67 cents as I got it in a 'fill a bag for $2' sale with a few other pieces. This is its sixth wear too, getting great cost per wear.

I've tried print mixing with it before, this time around I thought I'd pair it with this printed maxi skirt. Which I got in the same $2 bag of clothes. It was originally a dress, and I decided to have it altered into a skirt. It's such a fun summer piece.

I liked the way that the space dye tee worked with the mixed prints on the skirt, and I think the Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag tied the two pieces together nicely. Since the bag was a Christmas gift, that leaves the sandals to be the most expensive part of my outfit and I purchased them for $20!

Last worn: black printed tee, gold and navy beaded necklacemixed print maxi skirt, gold sandals, Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag.

Other ways to wearblack printed tee in the office, mixed print maxi skirt and denim jacket, gold sandals and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag and frill sleeve tees.

How You Can Wear It:

There is a false assumption that you need to wear a new outfit every day or you can't rewear things - in fashion in general, not just in blog land. I definitely challenge that and I enjoy showing you different ways to wear things in every post, and my 30 wears series to illustrate that you don't need new things all the time. And you certainly don't need to spend a lot when you do buy things!

You can easily find a bargain piece or two to update your wardrobe and make things feel fresh without maxing out your credit cards. Opshops, thrift stores, eBay, sale sections, all are good ways to make your fashion budget go a little further and give you the thrill of something new, so you can have a little more money to splurge on the things you care more about. That means more money for handbags for me obviously! 😂

In blogging, there is pressure to wear new things, things you can link and generate commissions on sales of. And I truly do appreciate those of you who buy things through the affiliate links I share to give me a little extra money for my hobby. But I'd much rather be a useful blog, that gives you inspiration for ways to wear pieces you already have and encourages you to rewear pieces to get more value from the things you've bought.

  2. I agree on being wise with a clothing budget. Although, I can afford splurges, I like to have a mix of high and low priced items. I enjoy thrifting and a good consignment shop. I really like the warm color of your RM camera bag.

  13. I love to re-wear pieces that are already in my closet. If I bought it, it usually means I love it so I'm always excited to find new ways to style something.

I'm always surprised by the amazing deals you find. I think my absolute cheapest item was $5 and deals like that are very difficult to find and usually only apply to t-shirts.

    You styled everything beautifully.

  15. I can't believe that you got both the top and the maxi skirt for one dollar each. Those are great thrift purchases for sure. I do agree that the first look is perfect for a busy day. Very feminine and pretty but it also looks comfy. The bag is simply the perfect pop of colour.

I really like the second outfit as well. I have a skirt very similar to yours, I bought it many years ago when I worked in Italy. Great outfits, both of them. We don't have many thrift stores here in Mostar, but I do visit second shop stores in Split occasionally.

  22. I just have to laugh when you talk about your $1 shirts and skirts and then kind of gloss over the bag :P You have an amazing bag collection! I do love that pink one but I think the camera bag might work better with more things for me. It's amazing that you've found such great deals. I need to go thrifting more often, though I did get my favorite dress at a thrift store for $8 and I wear it once or twice a year. The skirts, especially, are lovely!

I hope the heat is letting up (for your sake....I love the hot) and that you have a wonderful rest-of-the-week!

  23. I love looking around at pre-loved clothes. What's the saying? "Another man's trash is someones treasure" Something like that anyway! You really did grab a bargain with these outfits! I can't believe how cheap they sell the clothes. One item would cost around $3.96 here in the UK in some of the charity shops we have, so definitely picked up a bargain!

Love you combos, thanks for sharing! 😊

  30. I can't believe how cheap the items at your opshops are! All the ones I've gone to in the states prices start at around $3 or so. You find good deals all the time, especially the 'fill a bag' deals. I think that would be so much fun to do and get some items for my daughters, too. I like to spend money on certain things like bags or shoes, too! We all have the items we like to splurge on!

  33. I love that you share with us how to wear a piece of clothing in many different ways. I mean, in real life, that's what practical people do! Hahah, at least in my life. It's insanity to stick to a rule that each day calls for a new outfit! For both outfits you're wearing here, I just adore that bohemian twist in them! Especially the second one. It's the flowy skirt I think. Super adorable and cozy, I love it :D xoxo
