Secondly, this is a bit of a delayed post. I usually post 3 times a week but I missed Wednesday. I have photos ready and waiting, just no time to actually write a blog post. Baby T has been a bit out of sorts lately and if your baby is having a tough time and needs extra cuddles, you give them extra cuddles and everything else can wait. I'll happily divert my attention from blogging to baby grizzles :) Hopefully I can get back into the blog groove now and type up a few posts. I'd been relying on the little stockpile of scheduled posts I had for a while. On with the outfits.
What I wore:
Shoes: Balenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
Bracelets: the usual plus Nicole by Nicole Miller bracelet
Bag: Miu Miu cammeo studded clutch bag
Why I wore it:
I was looking forward to the first wearing of my new black maxi dress! We had a BBQ dinner with family so this seemed like a nice dress to wear. The neckline has some beautiful beaded embellishment, so I didn't wear a necklace with it. I did add a bit of bling with my bracelet and the studded bag and sandals. I really like wearing the bag and sandals together, I do it often! I think the studded shoes and studded bag is a cute combination. This bag isn't hanging around in my wardrobe though - while it is a cross body bag it's not ideal for using with baby as the clasp on the front can be a little fiddly while you're trying to close the bag with one hand and prevent baby crawling into danger with the other. It drove me a little crazy through the day. It's not listed on ebay, I'm consigning it with a local store instead. They know more about Miu Miu than I do!
Leaving my wardrobe: Miu Miu studded clutch
Last worn: Balenciaga studded sandals, Miu Miu studded bag. First time I've worn the dress as it was a recent purchase.
Other ways to wear: a simple black maxi dress and a snood, pink sandals and a blue dress, Miu Miu bag worn as a clutch.
What I wore:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: House of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
Dress: French Connection Moon Moire printed top
Jeans: Emerson red skinny jeans (new purchase)
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)
Why I wore it:
Last time I wore this top I was in the third trimester of pregnancy, and pleased to find a regular non-maternity top I could wear. I wasn't too impressed with how it looked though. I wasn't really enjoying wearing it this time around either. I think it's time for it to leave my wardrobe. This outfit was really a fail all around though! As hubby had gone off to work, he commented on how odd the weather was. It was cloudy and overcast, definitely not looking like the hot day they had predicted. I took advantage of the cold weather and wore my newly purchased skinny jeans, a $5 op-shop (thrift shop) bargain. I had some errands to run with baby T, so we headed to the local Westfield. By the time we re-emerged from the air-conditioned environment in the afternoon, I realised my mistake. The clouds had cleared up and it had warmed up a lot. I changed into shorts as soon as I got home!
Leaving my wardrobe: French Connection Printed Top
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, French Connection printed top, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton speedy B. First time I've worn the jeans as they are a new purchase.
Other ways to wear: printed top in the second trimester, red skinny jeans with a blue top, Louis Vuitton Bandouliere speedy with a dress.

You've been so meticulous about clearing out your wardrobe - looks like it's going great! It's all about practicality and still loving what you wear, which is a great theme to go off of when cleaning out a closet :)

Thank you! It's slow but steady progress. I am trying to be more open to letting things go when they just aren't working, has taken me a while to get to that point!
DeleteYour maxi and clutch are gorgeous ans you had a great run with that pretty French Connection top. I am loving this series you are doing with items that are leaving your wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI love that Miu Miu bag...very cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the maxi! So effortlessly classy.
ReplyDeletewww.jeannechristinemarie.blogspot.com
Both of these are so cute! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd go you for getting rid of stuff! Just checked out your ebay page and it looks like you had a threadless thing too! One time I won a $200 gift card so I got to go crazy, haha!

I am so insanely jealous of your win, I can't even imagine that, wow! I used to check the new releases all the time waiting for my favourites to be printed...had quite a threadless addiction back in the day, haha!

Beautiful black maxi dress! Great beaded neckline. Sounds like you are doing a fabulous job of culling your wardrobe. Have a wonderful weekend, Mica!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great blog. I love all the details you provided. The blk maxi dress is very beautiful and nice pairing with the taupe purse. Wouldn't have thought that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me way back.
Daphne.
So jelly of your designer bag collection, Mica! Looking like a goddes in this long black dress! Love this look a lot!!!

JOURNAL OF STYLE
It's always good to downsize. I am in the process of downsizing my handbag collection as well. Next to go would be my OB Bal City. I have two things on consignment still but so far no bid lol. I think I will start doing that too with my shoe collection. I would love to invest in a pair of booties (Rag and bone!) but until I can score them with at least a code of some sort I refuse to pay full price for them lol. I know I have an issue... :D
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling! I refuse to pay full price when I know if I just wait a little longer it will end up on sale or I'll get a discount code, haha!
DeleteHope your handbag downsizing goes well! Are you consigning with Erica?
Your son's well being Mica definitely comes first! I hope he feels better soon. I love your embellished dress and bag. Both look gorgeous together. The dress is stunning on you. Oh gosh, I hate when you put on something and it heats up during the day. LOL I love the outfit. Color jeans look amazing on you :)

Thanks Kim! He is feeling much better, just been a tough little period for us with so many changes with me going back to work, with him being sick and teething...a lot to cope with all at once poor bubba!
DeleteFirst things first, how cute is your dog! I'm too vertically challenged (ie, short) to wear a maxi dress but that one looks great on you! I have a sack full of clothes to sell on ebay, I just don't know where to start! Have you got any tips for me?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm a shortie too (5'2!) and I just wear maxi dresses anyway! After they are hemmed up by my tailor of course, ha!
DeleteI have no tips for selling on ebay, it's really tedious and time consuming. I often just donate the things that leave my wardrobe rather than trying the ebay route, less hassle!
Your maxi is great! Would love to take some of your eBay items off your hands but alas, apart from the bags, we are not the same size. Boooo!
ReplyDeleteSucks when that happens! Plenty more fish in the ebay sea for you though :)
DeleteThe maxi dress is very cute. Always love boho styles for the summer!

Obsessed with how pretty your dress is! You look fantastic
ReplyDeleteYou black maxi is gorgeous! I love the beading! Sounds like you are doing great clearing things out your closet!

The Real Arnolds
Both look so cute, especially the black dress.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day.
What a beautiful dress, Mica! It's so elegant. Also, good for you for cleaning out! I've read somewhere at one point that the average person only wears 20% of her wardrobe 80% of the time. I hope I'm a little better than that haha, but I know there are definitely pieces that don't see the sunshine often.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really loved your bold striped maxi skirt from your previous post. I also completely resonate with the public speaking nerves--I love doing it, but that doesn't mean that I don't get anxiety! I think the best way to conquer public speaking is just to practice so it's a little bit less intimidating each time.
Wishing you and Baby T the best!
imperfect idealist
I've heard of that rule too! And I'm really trying to wear 100% of my wardrobe...and get rid of those pieces that don't get worn often or that I don't enjoy wearing, so that it's a wardrobe full of things I love!
DeleteLove that black dress! So pretty

First of all that black maxi dress is so gorgeous on you. Love it!! This is such a fun post reading about your closet clean-up. I used to be so on schedule with the same, lately I either got busy or lazy whichever lens you look at it from haha- need some organizing ASAP. :-)) You absolutely have the best bags. The Miu Miu you are consigning is really cool, though I totally get what you mean by it being difficult to use with a baby. Have a great Sunday dear, XOXO, Elif
ReplyDeleteI am so lazy with my wardrobe clear outs too, that's why I just do it bit by bit instead of all at once. More achievable that way ;)
DeleteThat black dress is simply beautiful. I like the simple details and the slit. Classy! :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to see more of your posts. Do you have an instagram account? Maybe we could follow each other. Let me know by leaving a comment on my blog or sending me a request. I'll follow back :) Thanks!

Thanks Corinne! Always loving the extra hugs, hate that he's upset and that's why he needs them though :( He's feeling much better now though thank you :)

Wow, I really like both looks. I would keep the top, its flowy and looks so good with skinny jeans, but if you dont feel good in it then it should go, Btw, attend away to baby T:) I've been in a similar boat. Sometimes mamas have different priorities and they are much cuter and need us more than other things on our to do list anyway:)
ReplyDeleteAesthetic Lounge
Very true, the to-do-list can wait, babies can't! :)
Deleteoh wow can't believe you're parting with the miu miu, i've always really loved it! totally understand why though, with a baby you'll have to prioritise function over form.. the maxi dress looks amazing on you!
ReplyDeletesteph / absolutely-fuzzy.com
I love it too - it's very pretty! But after a day of fiddling around with the clasp....I don't wanna wear it again it was frustrating me haha!
DeleteBoth of these are so great
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the guts to clear out my wardrobe, so many things sitting there untouched but I always reason that someday I may wear it xx
Garland Girl
I do that too! The blog is good, I can see exactly when I last wore something to help gauge if there is really any point in keeping it!
DeleteYou look gorgeous! Swooning over that maxi! It looks amazing on you!

Thank you all for your kind comments!
ReplyDeleteNo one blames you for wanting more baby time over blogging! He totally deserves all your attention. (; That dress is so flattering on you! I'm really building my dress collection up for the warmer months. I love having the effortless options and taking them from casual to work looks. I've definitely been looking at lots of your stylings for inspiration! Especially in the accessories department!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I could help inspire you! I love dresses in the warmer months, just grab and go, great instant outfits! :)
DeleteGorgeous black dress and red pants! Love your outfits :)

I actually just went through my wardrobe myself and took pics of everything to sell...and that is as far as I got.
ReplyDeleteGive those extra cuddles. Babes always come first.
That's a great start! It takes me months to get around to listing on ebay, haha!
Deletelove that dress!
ReplyDelete<3 rhea @ rheaetcetera.com
Mica you look fab in the new dress- I looked through the bags you're selling on ebay yesterday and did not see this MiuMiu - did you already sell it ?
ReplyDeleteIt was an impulse buy and I don't really know anything about Miu Miu, so I've taken it to a consignment store to sell instead for trying on ebay :) I'd never be able to answer any questions about it, I don't know what year it was from or anything! Hopefully the store can figure it out :)
DeleteYour new maxi looks fantastic on you! Great find! I was looking through your ebay store and I would definitely put in a few bids if shipping wouldn't cost $50 to ship to the US! Ebay is great for selling your old items. I hope you're able to sell them!
ReplyDeleteI know, it's a shame shipping is so expensive! I do combine shipping, but unless you win a lot of auctions probably doesn't make a big saving.
