Here's what I wore to go out with my sister in law:
Tank: Just Jeans black lace trim singlet
Jeans: Sass and Bide 'The Archetype' feather print zippora skinnies
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs metallic mouse flats
Bag: Balenciaga envelope clutch in 2012 mangue with giant 12 RGGH
As everyone was feeling better I decided to go to a Coach event I'd RSVP'd for before we all got sick. It was a good excuse to get some time out of the house, have dinner and look at some pretty bags while spending time with my sister in law. I did want to wear heels with this, but when I tried them on earlier in the day I realised after 5 minutes they wouldn't be the best for an evening of standing and chatting. So wore my comfy flats instead, and was happy I'd made that choice by the end of the night.
I've worn this tank 4 times since I've been blogging (1, 2, 3 and now). There's nothing wrong with it, it's really a very pretty tank. The lace detail at the neckline makes it feel a little more dressed up than a plain black tank. But I so rarely wear it! I have a similar black tank (gathered waist, detailed neckline) that I love more than this one. When I last wore that tank, I commented that I'd hardly worn it and it was a shame as it was a top I loved. This top, I just like. And as it's so similar to my other black top...I'm going to get rid of it. I don't need things I just like in my wardrobe when I have the perfect alternatives that I love! Trying to be much stricter with what stays in my wardrobe this year!
Leaving my wardrobe: black lace detail tank
Last worn: black tank, printed skinny jeans, gold mouse flats, Balenciaga envelope clutch.
Here's what I wore to go to dinner with friends:
Dress: Jeanswest 'Gisele' contrast lace dress
Shoes: NineWest "Quicken" wedges in natural
Bag: Balenciaga flat clutch GSH in 2010 Sang
This is what I wore for a Valentine's dinner with friends. First, let me comment on my hair! It is very curly. My sister found this amazing trick on Pinterest (she loves Pinterest!) where you get curls overnight without using any heat. We have similar hair, so I decided to try and replicate her curly hair style. I couldn't find the exact tutorial, but after texting back and forth before bed I think I got it right. I woke up, and instead of letting my hair down, I spent the morning tidying and looking after baby T. So I had my hair up for a little longer than you were supposed too...I actually took it out after lunch. To find that my hair was super curly. I tried running my fingers through it, I even tried brushing it - twice! - and well, it looked like it does above. I made the decision just to go with it and wear it that way anyway, hoping the curls would relax a little more through the afternoon and evening. They didn't of course! It's funny, I've tried the same trick again, leaving my hair in just overnight and I can never get the curls to stay....so I really did something wrong this time around!
My nail art was a DIY I tried that I liked a lot better - turned out not too bad, for a first attempt! I followed this tutorial from Marie, so easy to fit in during baby T's nap time! I'm also trying a new blush, one I won from Kim's giveaway on A Very Sweet Blog. That was another new thing that went well, I really like this blush. So it wasn't all bad :)
I liked the outfit (despite the hair). It was nice to dress up a little and wear some heels. And with baby T being baby sat again, I could wear another of my cute but mostly neglected clutches.
Last worn: black lace dress, wedges, red Balenciaga clutch.

ReplyDeleteWow your hair is absolutely stunning and perfect like that. You totally have to do it like that every single day!! Love the lace dress and those amazing Marc Jacobs flats. I adore the impressive bag collection of course.
ReplyDeletehaha thank you! My hair just felt much too 'big' and unruly in person!
DeleteReally love those clutches, you have such an amazing collection of bags!! That lace dress is so lovely on you & your hair looks great!

PS. Its the last week to enter my Daniel Wellington Giveaway and would love if you would enter ;)
I've been toying with an idea of getting a Bal clutch but not sure if it would be worth it as I hardly use some clutches I have. I really like the flat clutch, I think it fits more? The Mangue is a nice color. I should have gone for it instead of Curry. Curry is just too bright. Love all your ensembles :)
ReplyDeleteThe envelope clutch has more compartments, but it's harder to button up if you overstuff it. I think the flat clutch does hold a bit more :) Mangue is the perfect Bal yellow IMHO :)
DeleteI love that yellow clutch with the print on your pants. You look so pretty dressed up for your dinner! I like the curl in your hair.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the print of those Sass & Bide jeans! And of course the mouse flats, I need to wear mine soon but it's so snowy and gross out I don't want to ruin them!
ReplyDeleteAnd you look so pretty in that Jeanswest dress, love the hair!

Definitely better to save your shoes for a non-snowy day! They are cute, but I wouldn't want to wear them in the snow either! :)
DeleteI love the color of that yellow clutch!

I love your statement jeans and that pop of color clutch. Mustard is seriously one of my favorites right now. I've sort of convinced myself it goes with everything. (;
ReplyDeleteI love how you did a small segment about leaving your closet. And hey, that top got some serious love over the years and I love how you shared all the ways you styled it.
I know you mentioned you weren't too found of your hair on your Valentine's Day dinner with friends, however, before I read the posting below, I was like "omg look at those curls!" Your hair is beautiful both straight and curly, but the curls really added a sweetness to your look. Totally Valentine's Day, am I right? (; I haven't much room to talk though, I feel the same when I attempt to straighten my hair.
I think a nice pop of yellow does go with everything! :)
DeleteI've been realising I have so many photos of all my old outfits - may as well use them and pull them out again when I can show how I've worn something! :)
thank you for your kind comments on my hair - it didn't turn out as relaxed as I expected, I thought it was a bit much and a bit unruly in the end!
Hey Mica I love seeing your curled your locks! it's gorgeous! Love your Bal clutches too!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful in your lace dress and your hair is stunning. You look completely different and of course your Balenciaga clutches are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Love these looks so much and the curly hair!! You look so stunning.
ReplyDeleteYou look pretty in lace Mica! That top and those printed pants look amazing together. I love the color of your clutch. You have such straight hair, I wouldn't have thought it would curl so! That is amazing! Well you looked pretty!

You know I am LOVE your Balenciaga bag collection right!?! You have the best ones, and this clutch is no different. The first outfit is so sweet with the black tank, and the red Valentines look is sassy and pretty. The nails are too cute as well. :) Pinterest tutorials are the best- yayy for curls without heat. I feel like I am damaging mine so much with it. Gorgeous all over. XOXO, Elif
ReplyDeleteYes it's good to take a break from using heated things in your hair, especially in summer, I don't like straightening my hair much as it's too hot to even think about using hot tools on my hair, haha!
DeleteThose patterned pants are fabulous, and I love how you brought out the yellow tones by using the clutch to accessorise.
ReplyDeleteLove both clutches!

Mica! Your hair looks PHENOMENAL for that Valentines dinner you went to! Love the waves :D
ReplyDeleteAnd good logic with getting rid of the tank top...there's no point in keeping something you just like when you have a good option like it that you love!
The Dragonfruit Diaries
thank you! I wish it was more like waves and less like curls...I think I kept it in much too long!
DeleteAnd yes, I'm trying to get better at buying so I only buy things I really love, and trying to use that same logic to de-clutter my wardrobe too. Why have two things when I only love one of them? :)
Your hair looks amazeballs - super pretty! And I'm totes jealous of your gorgeous bag collection. #seewhatIdidthere
ReplyDeletehaha! yes I saw it, and it gave me a giggle! :)
DeleteThank you all for your kind comments - and lovely compliments on the different hair style! :)
