What I Wore To Donate My Hair! Foil Tees and Maxi Skirts

In case you missed it, I donated my hair! You can see how far behind I am with blogging pics as I posted the video of the big chop at the end of March, and it's mid-April and Easter this weekend! I'll be posting short hair pics from Monday, until then come see what I wore to donate my hair (or take a peek at my Instagram to see the short hair!).

What I wore:

foil stripe tee with black drawstring waist maxi skirt with purple Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag | away from the blue

rebecca minkoff mini mab tote bag plum purple maxi skirt | away from the blue

Necklace: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklace
TeeJeanswest Anika foil stripe tee in white and silver
SkirtJeanswest Luxe jersey maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote in plum (on sale!)

Why I wore it:

I wore this a few days before I donated my hair. I had the day off to sit that big exam I've mentioned a couple of times. My day was full of studying before logging on to do the test remotely in the afternoon. It was something I needed to be fully dressed for as obviously you are monitored when taking the exam. I had to give the person who was monitoring me for the exam a webcam tour of the entire room and the table I had my computer on, twisting and turning my laptop around. It would have been funnier if I wasn't so stressed about the exam, haha! Especially when I was told my flowers and candle were not allowed on the desk, nothing but my computer and mouse.

Luckily, I passed the exam and have a new work certification to my name! Since most of the day I was home by myself I felt brave enough to wear a white tee without worrying about getting it dirty, this foil one deserves a bit more love as it was a while since it was last worn.

I added the purple mini MAB tote bag for a touch of colour with the black and white and because I didn't need much to do the daycare pick up and drop off.

Last worn: striped foil print tee, blue beaded necklace, black drawstring waist maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag.

Other ways to wearstriped foil print tee and kimono, black drawstring waist maxi skirt and graphic tee, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag worn 30 ways.

Perfect for pregnancyRebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag in second trimester.

Why I wore it:

Since I liked the foil tee and maxi skirt combo above, despite the stressful day, I decided to wear a similar outfit again when I went to donate my hair. With some colourful accessories again, including a big statement necklace.

My bestie had grown her hair for two years and donated it, so I decided to do the same! And it's funny, it was about 2 years ago I shared that's what I was going to do!

You can see more in the video - including my reactions to the first cut - but we managed to donate 38cm of hair to Variety to be made into wigs for kids with cancer. Big thanks to Steph at Snippitz hairdresser at Marsden Park for doing the big cut and styling my very short locks afterwards! A special thank you to one of Steph's loyal customers who surprised me and paid for my haircut as their donation to the cause too.

You can find out more about donating your hair (or a monetary donation) on the Variety website.

Last worn: star foil print tee, colourful necklace, black maxi skirt, rose gold sandals, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag (above).

Other ways to wearstar foil print tee worn two ways, black maxi skirt and printed tee, rose gold sandals and denim shorts, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag and purple jeans.

Foil Print Tees Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A foil print tee is a fun alternative to a plain tee, adding just a little extra sparkle and interest. Of course you can add further interest to your outfit with bold and bright accessories as well.

Hope you enjoyed the video! Looking forward to sharing my new shorter haircut on the blog next week. Have a happy Easter!

  2. I donated my hair once (maybe twice) before, such a freeing feeling! But I always feel awkward with shorter hair, its not really "me" and I can't get the hang of styling it, haha. But it always looks so good on everyone else!

  23. Dear Mica,
it is very laudable you donated your hair for the kids who have cancer. It is definitely an impressing step but you look also with the shorter hair cut fantastic. Congratulations you passed the exam! Both looks are cool and I think absolutely perfect for the exam and the day you donated your hair.
    Happy Easter!
